- Welcome back to the channel!
We decided to DIY install the H&R sport springs on my 2022 BMW X3 (G01).
Sport springs spec
1.5” drop front
0.80” drop rear
Note; after installing and driving for a week the suspension is now fully settled and at its optimal drop height which is a lot closer to 2” in front and 1” in the back
I do recommend an alignment after the springs settle!
Must have tools to do the install
- Spindle Spreader
-Strut socket
- Pass thru wrench
- Impact drill
- Torque Wrench
- E12 socket
- Allen key
- 18 19 21 10 8 sockets/wrench
- hydraulic jack
- Time, manpower and lots of patience 😆
Thanks for watching!
excellent video, going to install them on my 2021 X3 G01 soon. already got everything but time !
You’ll need time! Make sure you have a whole Saturday or Sunday
I'm in to mods, but if you want to lower your SUV, just get the 5 series instead.
@@kendelion what’s the strange obsession with telling others how to live and what to do ?!
@@RAMONEAuto not obsessed, i'm not against it too.
Just my opinion if you're lowering an SUV which is designed to be TALL, then you should just buy a SHORT vehicle in the first place.
@@kendelion I did not want a short vehicle, I wanted practicality and a this X3 does that. Lowering the suspension just improves handling for a vehicle that will only see highway driving. Wait till you find out the x5 and x7 has factory air suspension that can lower than this
Great video as always ❤
Thank you 🤗
did you notice any additional drop after a few weeks due to the springs settleing, compared to the ride height on the day when the were first installed?
Yes! They are visually at least 1 inch lower now vs when they were first installed I’ve had them for roughly a year and a half now and they sit perfect
Hey Ramon, happy new year! Can we get an update video of ownership on your X3? I would love to know how you feel about it now after having it for 2 years. How’s the reliability (since people claim BMW’s aren’t the best) maintenance costs etc. Thanks!!
BMW was rated third, most reliable car company from consumer reports. their new B 58 and S 58 platforms are some of the most impressive engines ever built. Very reliable.
@@Mike-cz2yw I’ve read that. However I like to hear the experiences from an Owners perspective.
Coming soon!
Were you able to be at original alignment.?
@@nicholaslegat7585 camber angles were slightly different but it was merely noticeable, it got closer on the second alignment after it settled for over 6 months
How many miles did you get out of your current tires? Bridgestone Alenza?
20,500 to be exact and they were factory Michelin Latitude Sport 3
How is ride quality compared to stock? Stiffer, body roll any negatives?
a tad bit stiffer on bumpy roads, body roll is significantly less
Did the ride quality change? I have the same M Sport in 2017 and the ride is very smooth with my Continental
Control Contact Sports. I wouldn't want to ruin it
Ride quality did change keep in mind I installed H&R springs which are stiffer then the OEM but with softer compound tires, vs the OEM soft suspension and stiff run flat tires. Overall I have a sporty compliant ride but tires are really quiet soft and grippy especially in the wet
the car looks low key better now that it’s lower
Does this violate the terms of the lease?
Anything other than factory violates the lease! As long as you return the lease with everything oem you are good! In my case I’m not worried because I’m gonna buyout my lease then flip it to avoid the lease penalty
@@RAMONEAuto Cool. Glad you'll buy it out and ovoid fees.
i would have thought these models got rear airbag suspension???
X5 5er higher tier of BMW has air suspension, X3 has optional adaptive Msport dampers but it’s a steel suspension
Is this a “M” package suspension ? Trying to find lowering springs for my x3 sdrive 2023 but all the pages says that won’t fit only for xdrive and m.
Standard m sport suspension not adaptive
@@RAMONEAuto Thank you ! Looks bad ass btw !
Were you able to find springs compatible on the sdrive?
I’ve actually done a TON of research and the springs across the X3 platform are the same. For example if the springs fit the Xdrive they will fit the Sdrive. I have tested this and it worked. I have a 2022 Sdrive and part number H&R 28926-1 works for the Sdrive.
@@simplymatt_ thanks you so much
On a family SUV__hahaha: Ok_all about preference:
absolutely, as if my infant will notice a 2 inch drop in ride height
Any rubbing ?
Nope! Done about 5k miles on them now! Perfect ride
@@RAMONEAuto Car looks dope my man. I have a 2022 xDrive40i M-Sport and considering these. What's the ride like - similar to stock or better or more harsh?
@@bingohhhhhhhhhhhh a bit firmer more sporty less body roll but it doesn’t interfere with daily driving
@@bingohhhhhhhhhhhh you mean m40i right?
@@estevanperezz Yes M40i.
