WOW! I Really Wished this could of take place in my life! I really want my church to grow, but my ideas, they don't listen to me! I have been to my church 10+ years, and they have never thought of me enough to even consider a raise. That's a joke to them😂. They Don't believe in Cost of Living expenses! 😮So Shocking to them! But Yet they have No Problem asking The members to raise $30,000 for a New Church Exterior Sign!!
Depend on The Lord not church. Let God make a way for you. If its His will for you to play at anther church let Him show you. But ask for that raise. Master your craft why you ask.
I am the musician at the only church I have ever attended. I never had any formal training on the piano or organ, but the Pastor and the members supported me from the beginning. About 2 years ago the Church went through a rough time during the pandemic, so they asked me to give up my salary for 6 months. I agreed to do just that , but the six months ended up being a year. When I give them a resignation notice they said that they had overlooked the agreement, and restored the salary. A year later they asked me to give up the salary again, but this time there were areas where they could have redrawn the budget without completely cutting my salary. What should I do, I don’t think they are being far concerning me, where the only cuts they can make is to me, but want me to continue to go along. I feel like I am being used, and now I can’t play with the spirit and emotions that I used to have and it hurts. My trust in with God, but I still feel like they are using me. What should I do
@@stanleygreen1554 Man, I hear you! I can relate to your situation. My home church cut my salary during the pandemic as well. They just dragged us along for about a year or so. Attendance has never been the same since, so when the church realized some financial issues, I went from $150 a week to $100 per week to nothing. They are supposed to reinstate the salary at a business meeting in May, and if they do so, I will petition to have my salary restored to at least $200 a week. This is the problem with attending a smaller church; you are not rewarded for taking on additional responsibilities. Remember that I run my church's social media pages and website, record the services, and serve as the sound tech. I'm even the church secretary handling all of the meeting recordings and minutes. I don't know what to do. I don't want to stop going to church. I only make a little from my job as a teacher. If they don't restore my salary, I won't even make any money over the summer and will have to take on another job, which would most likely require me to give up my Sundays at church. At this point, someone can only do so much fasting and praying. Faith without works is dead.

Greetings Terrence I have a question for you, that I haven't seen addressed yet in any of your videos.
But if you've already addressed it, please just direct me to that video, and I'll go from there.
What if, you as a musician are initially hired to play keyboards for example, but they found out that you have skills, so they also want you to add a drum track to it, and a bass line, if you can?
Now, I'm sure you already know where I'm going with this...🤨
Under normal circumstances, they would have to pay a separate fee for the drummer, and a separate fee for the bass player, plus your fee, whatever you all agreed to.
How do you address this?
Is it correct, appropriate, and wise business acumen to charge them, as if they were contracting with three separate entities, doing three separate jobs, getting three separate salaries.
I can see you doing a whole video, just on this subject alone.
Of course there are many scenarios here, and I've been in many, if not all of them.
For example:
1) Hired as a keyboard player, but we want you to teach parts also, along with vocal training.
2) Hired as the keyboard player, but now we want you to be the Minister of Music, or the Chief Musician, etc. and oversee the praise team , 3 choirs, the men's chorus.
3) Hired as a keyboard player, but we need you to (notice the change, went from from want you to, now it's need you to), work with the audio/video team to get the sound right so we can stream live on several platforms.
Plus we want to put out a recording project next year, and we need someone to oversee (produce) that project, and make sure we stay on budget (finance manager), and notify all of the radio stations around the country (public relations, or A&R person)
once the project is finished.
I'm sure you get my drift by now. Of course most church Pastors want you to do all of this, and then some for one lousy low price $225/week.
But they'll pay Comcast/Xfinity $450 for business Internet service, plus a handsome cable TV package, complete with premium subscription (Christian) channels, plus a top of the line video recorder.
I rest my case...😏😑🧐😮💨
