This is my favourite stream on youtube. Ihsan, the "physician", and i use the term loosely in his case, got owned hard by Jake the Metaphysician. Kudos to the panel, and may allah bless you all. Keep fighting the good fight.
It's understandable that Ihsaan left Islam if his family was shia. They have lot of negative practices and beliefs. He found safety in science. But he needs compassion to understand real Islam. As Hamza said, he sees Islam as a caricature. I find it very interesting not only, that he is on these streams, but he engages in them so much... And he is on a lot of different Muslim streams, so inshAllah we have plenty of opportunity to introduce to real islam. May Allah guide him. I find he has a genuine Innocence to him. Allahu Alim.

Real people and their struggles, crimes, pride, arrogance, regrets, destruction or triumph are part of the whole that is Islam and human history. Eg: Generosity of spirit. Emotional intelligence. Empathy etc, are also necessary. Acknowledging what it is to be human (vulnerable) in a given circumstance "walk in their shoes". "Critical thinking" is necessary, he (the commenter) didn't deny that but Ihsaan displays cynicism and is over critical though Ignorant, he hasn't studied (he admits that) but makes claims off the top of his head like a kid lashing out. This is my favourite stream on youtube. Ihsan, the "physician", and i use the term loosely in his case, got owned hard by Jake the Metaphysician. Kudos to the panel, and may allah bless you all. Keep fighting the good fight.
It's understandable that Ihsaan left Islam if his family was shia. They have lot of negative practices and beliefs. He found safety in science. But he needs compassion to understand real Islam. As Hamza said, he sees Islam as a caricature. I find it very interesting not only, that he is on these streams, but he engages in them so much... And he is on a lot of different Muslim streams, so inshAllah we have plenty of opportunity to introduce to real islam. May Allah guide him. I find he has a genuine Innocence to him. Allahu Alim.
He reminds me of Jordan M meme on obsessive ex-wife/ex-husband. We live in the era where we can finally see these obsessive exes moving on to theologies and religions.
Why do you need compassion when reading a book? I think critical thinking is a better trait to have. Just saying.

I think the commenter means that elements of compassion (and other emotions) are needed when studying Islam. Real people and their struggles, crimes, pride, arrogance, regrets, destruction or triumph are part of the whole that is Islam and human history.
Eg: Generosity of spirit.
Emotional intelligence.
Empathy etc, are also necessary.
Acknowledging what it is to be human (vulnerable) in a given circumstance "walk in their shoes".
"Critical thinking" is necessary, he (the commenter) didn't deny that but Ihsaan displays cynicism and is over critical though Ignorant, he hasn't studied (he admits that) but makes claims off the top of his head like a kid lashing out.
From his performance its clear he left Islam for emotional rather than intellectual reasons.
He needs to face that fact, dismantle his characature of Islam and study with sincerity.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala grant him that sincerity.

Now at best, the other quote of ibn taymiyya shows that he also taught the opposite , which simply means that ibn taymiyyah contradicted himself like a hypocrite, the same as muhammad. If I say in one place that whlte people are superior, then somewhere else I say that no race is superior, that doesn't undo the fact that I taught that whlte people are superior.
In reality, if you listen to Uthman Ibn Farooq's explanation at 3:17:00, you'll see that the more likely thing is that Ibn taymiyya wasn't even contradicting the r4ci4l soopr3macist teaching. ibn taymiyya said that arabs aren't good because of their race itself, but because God made them with superior, righteous characteristics. uthman ibn farooq even said after I was kicked at 3:17:00 that "ibn taymiyya explained that allah gave different qualities to different people and he chose the best of them"

Sometimes people are embarassed of Islam because of those terrorist, and they are not knowledgeable to defend themselves or their religion...I saw a video of Muslims lady who was invited in an interfaith discussion and she has a bizzare opinion about Islam when subject of violence is brought up. She said don't look at Islam from the Prophet pbuh but from one of Muslims influencer that she know (he must be well known there). That's a very weird statement as if she didn't know our Prophet pbuh never preach violence. It's really unfortunate that many non Muslims institution will use Muslims that's uneducated in Islam to represent Islam in such discussion.
