- In this video, Harry pulls another gem from his vault of guitars. The ESP Explorer in black! This one is not Hetfieldized surprisingly, but we all know Papa Het plays 'em so Harry had to have it. Must be nice...

those ESP explorers are pretty much the holy grail of guitars in my eyes, one day I will own one, I hope
These cost about 25-30.000$..But u can still buy the ltd versions that cost about 1000-3000$
I'm planning on selling my old white ESPwith an "EET FUK" spray painted on it. I bought it back in 87 but there's only one problem. After using it so much it turned almost yellow.
L04D send pics to generationdown@yahoo.com , let’s make a deal!
@@bv2001 NO. YOU CAN BUY THIS GUITAR FROM ESP JAPAN AROUND 8K$
Just bought an old LTD version, insane guitar and way better than the 2019 Gibson Explorer.
Amazing but shoulda had a ebony fretboard
This man has spoken the upmost truth.
hetfield fanboi
My dream guitar...
@Músicas Sugeridas yeahh dream comes true.👏🏻
Love the guitar. But it rather brake than stay at this a**hole hands.
You are the only one on UA-cam that I've seen that owns both. It would be a really good interesting video to watch and learn from. If not if you could personally tell me the difference from both guitars. Much appreciate it . I am here in Southern California
Having watched these Metallica gear series gotta say that's one impressive collection and this is one is probably most wanted. I've seen these sell for 20k!
Absolutely amazing guitar, i love this channel ;D
I just love that guitar and I'm considering on getting one. Would you sell yours?? Figured I ask
thats the one they guy from green day uses, I mean metallica
do you know if I could still find it?
im about to make one of these and slap a fucking esp custom sticker on that shit, fuck they gonna do, sue me?
it shouldnt take you 6 minutes to play the damn guitar
It's wild to see one with a set neck and rosewood fingerboard. They're typically bold-on and rosewood or set and ebony. Very nice.
Though the soda can sitting on the amp is giving me anxiety.
Looks like it to me, i have the same esp & mine is rosewood. Though mine is bolt on from 95
Are you serious.?!!!!!
"I haven't pulled it out of the case in 10 years"
WTH.......... U bought an awesome guitar and yet you mock it as well as other guitarists by not playing that masterpiece. As a musician, I feel a bit insulted and I pity that poor guitar.
I think its because he cant play em!
Seeing him plays, I can understand why. This guy isn't a guitar player but just a fan collector.
I bought mine from someone who haven't played his ESP E.X.P for 15 years (!), but, he didn't play at all and didn't pretend like he love guitars. (Actually, the guitar was stocked at his mom's house).
A big waste and this kind of video bugs me.
When you have 20 guitars you keep your most expensive ones as “art”
This Wolf and Man riff he played must be the saddest version I've ever heard...
That's not very nice
It sucks that they can’t make these anymore. Its not fair 😭
DexterLlew they do but only in Japan
@@justinvoorheis9311 Yeah but as I understand it you can't order one outside of Japan. So for all intensive purposes you can't get them anymore.
@@Thirteen31Music You can still these. They are Edward's out of Japan. I'm not sure what the difference is between LTD, ESP and Edward's....
@@justinvoorheis9311 Dang.
@@maczepa edwards are esp E-II basically
he really does suck at playing the thing
Is it just me or is the Mountain Dew can just sitting on that Mesa head bothering anyone else?
Yea, don't set drinks on your gear kids
😡! Yeah man! haha
@2:52 "the quick connect does a little something to the EMGs, they kinda lose a little umph"
yeah... that's not how electricity works bud.
GrowMasterGeneral it’s not about “electricity” it’s about the connection. A solder connection is constant while a clip connection is convenient, oxidation can build up in there and the connection is never 100%
@@dtuning What do you think is going through the connection? Spoiler alert: it's electricity. If a connection is "never 100%" then that means the signal will go in and out and will be very noticeable. And the idea that it's never 100% is bullshit, the connection is just as constant. As for "oxidation can build up", it would need to be severe before it would ever disrupt the connection. Oxidation build up can occur on any connection, soldered or not. The idea that quick connects changes the tone of a guitar is nothing more that false bias.
@@dtuning Consider your computer for proof that I am correct. Your computer works off of binary code, billions of 1's and 0's (3.5v and 0v) are flowing through your computer right now. The way binary works, these 1's and 0's need to be error free. Open your computer, and you'll notice MANY quick connect connections. If it were even remotely true that these quick connect connections were "not 100%", your computer would cease to even function. Yet, it does.
GrowMasterGeneral ok well anytime you want I will bring in 2 identical guitars with the quick connect and no connect and u can tell me if u here a difference
GrowMasterGeneral you don’t play your computer for tone!!
Love these ESP Explorers but IMO, after owning many of both, my favorite one was the bolt-on neck version. To me the bolt-on neck versions just sound better? Not sure why.
Bolt on sounds snappier
You must add a close up photos!
I didn't know there is an e.x.p with set neck. Nice catch. Btw, on the back of the headstock it has "Custom Shop" or "Custom Guitar" logo?
And I think that it's a shame and a waste to keep guitars inside their cases for that long time.. It wasn't made to be locked down. Play it, enjoy it.
My 94 Esp explorer was also in someone's case for 15 years and not even at his own house but his mother's, and I'm glad I got to but it from him and let it see the outside if the case. These explorers are so goddamn good that it's a crime not to play them.
I agree wish i played mine a bit more. I bought a white one back in 87 but after years of intense playing the guitar just stopped working. I bought a custom one now but my old one is just hanging on the wall and i still have the EET FUK sticker on it.
@@l04d83wanna sell it?
@@rcadefrk was going to, but i have already sold my black mx250 and im a little bit sentimental about it.
Is it not true Esp start to do bolt on and after they do set neck... They start with the mx.220 copying the white gibson used by James...and was set neck. After they do the mx.250, first proto in 1990/1991 for Hetfield and they was all set neck.
I know this is a pretty necro'd video, but there aren't many people I can ask 🤣 How do these compare to a good Gibson Explorer?
I FINALLY scored one of these and am cautiously excited for it to arrive. It is a 1992 bolt-on model w/Floyd Rose. I'm curious what to expect, and I am trying to be realistic. I'm an owner of 3 limited-run Gibson Explorers (2011 Vampire Bloodmoon, 2014 Blackout, and 2014 Lzzy Hale white), a hand-made custom Ken Lawrence Explorer clone (made by a luthier in the Netherlands, EASILY the equal of all 3 Gibo's), and a surprisingly well made Epiphone EX 84 (playability-wise, tied for the best with the custom KL clone...tonewise, not close at all).
I don't want to expect too much, but at the same time these are ESP custom guitars which, as I understand it, are some of the finest in the world.
Just bought an ESP explorer from 93. I avoided purchasing the explorer simply because I didn't want to hear shit like you're trying to be like hetfield....same reason why avoided Dean guitars. So I stuck with flying v's since 1991.
I have a 97 ESP explorer. You can see it at Given Hatred band on UA-cam. 🤘
James had a few diamond plate explorers his signature model diamond plate one was the same as the one you could buy bolt on and all...you can see the neck plate on some live shows the one with the elk heads is a completely different guitar...
It's nice that you had this guitar for so long, but you have to give it to me now.
And I know what you mean about quick connectors. Solder is better.
"uhhhhhh and uhhhhhh the uhhhh"..... spit it out junior!
Stuff like this is why I can't support Gibson.
My dream is to get an ESP MX250 - in lefty!!! Closest I've got is an LTD EXP-200: Korean made, 1998 I think, bolt-on maple neck (alder body), upgraded to EMG 81+60. Love that thing, will never part with it - lawsuit Explorers are hard enough to find, but left handed ones are insanely rare. I've only ever found one lefty ESP MX for sale and it was crazy money
Alder body maple neck explorer??
Man, I miss 48th Street Custom. The guitars that they had there were amazing.
I have a exp 102 ltd what is that?
3:40 I actually played Hetfield’s JH-2. It was a bolt on neck, Diamond inlays, EMG 81/60, Diamond plate pick guard, brass nut, sperzel locking tuners
Uma puta guitarra e uma mão de alface dessa, é de arrepiar
desanimador né mano?! kkk
Hi Harry I wanted to ask you if you could possibly do a video on the ESP Explorer that one you have right there and the Ken Lawrence Explorer both on the save video like a comparison in detail sound weight comfort detail description.
The guitar of my dreams
I've had an Olympic white ESP explorer With an ebony fretboard that was a custom shop from Japan that I got around 2007 , And was an incredible..... instrument for sure. Just phenomenal . And kick myself in the Fuckin ass for selling it because I needed the money.
Yes man I love that black ESP Explorer. Could you let me know the wood specs on the body? Neck? And fretboard? And how the chunky neck of the neck feels
Sick a** Guitar. Didn't know they made them.. i agree with you about the EMGs, love to rip on that thing mannnnnnn! Love the videos where you show off you gear and the stories, really cool !
If you could do another video just on that particular guitar would be sooo cool like trying out clean channel and dirty
Heh... Even Metallica doesn't have that "magic Metallica tone" anymore. 😔
Im curious do you just buy every Metallica ESP they make on principal?
I didn’t know the set neck versions of these came with rosewood fingerboards just ebony
Whoa, I almost bought that exact guitar when I went to 48th St. Small world.
wow never knew sal from impractical jokers played guitar
damn i want one of those but if its only a lefty
what kind of painting has in it?
Settings on the amp?
😍😍😍😍😍😍
Lol 7:51
so badass
That guitar is AMAZING!
Harry what did you pay for it in 1997?
I bought one back in 1987 for around 1200$, which with inflation adds up to 2652.54$. The only thing i regret about it was buying the white one instead of the black one cause after years of playing it it turned yellow from ageing.
@@l04d83 thats cool man, if you ever change your mind, just add yahoo to my user name & hit me up. Have other esps as well including 95 black mx250, bolt-on with rosewood. Looks just like the one in this video, but his is neck thru
I dont know but I like the vintage yellow it look s cool for me
THIS GUY DOESN’T DESERVE TO OWN THIS GUITAR!!!!!!!!!
