I believe you mentioned that you started with 3 gallons of water and added your grains to it but you never said how much liquid you got from the straining process and also how much liquid(water) did you add to get to what final amount? You mentioned a 1085 sg but what was the volume of liquid...5 gal, 6gal,8gal wash?
Randy- I like how you experiment with a variety of ingredients to make different whiskeys. It’s very creative. I’ve made a few of your recipes already and they turned out great
Hello Randy, I've been enjoying your content for several weeks now and had to say I liked the camera angles into the bucket while mixing this one. Couple suggestions I have for your videos would be during editing is adding numbers of gallons of liquids, weights of grains etc..only a suggestion and not a demand 😉. 2nd is a video request for Pappy Van Winkle, since you like wheated whiskey. Maybe you can find an exact grain bill but if not I have a close guess I could send. Another idea would be a detailed video about slober boxes vs thumpers as i don't think anyone (I've watched) has done a video on that subject. Apologies for the long read 😂
Making mead and distilling it makes the best honey shine when you French oak and age it for a while. My goodness everyone has to try. After a few months of mellowing and ageing in glass it smells and tastes like the honey you used but with a whiskey type body
Very interesting looking recipe. Will be filing this one away for a future run. Liked that you tried to talk about what you think about the flavor the grains offer, as I am still curious as to what corn really tastes like. Look forward to the distillation and tasting.
This looks like a fun mash. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Have you ever tried kveik yeast? They say it really pumps up the fruity flavors. I'm trying that in an all molasses rum right now. It is appealing because the yeast works well up to just over 100 degrees. That is handy for me in the summer if it works. Just wondered if you had tried it.
I kind of have a question that don't deal with what your blueberry is now but I hope you can still answer for me I had 12 lb corned and I put in 4 gal of water at 192 degrees I stirred and stirred and it never did get Trek like yours does I don't know what I did wrong if I did anything wrong I'm hoping you can help me I don't know if it makes a difference or not thank you for answering me back in advance
not sure you can do a starch test to see if yo got starch in water should turn real black maybe little to much water wont hurt it after get to the point to add grains or ezyems see what sg is
I'm subscribed and smash the 👍. Very informative videos and they always make me think of new to me mash bill. I personally make a wine must/mash and season/age of fruit wood or pecan wood w tremendous good results thanks for your replies and keep on keeping on.
My brother is a truck driver he brings me cases of oatmeal lol love your videos keep up the awesome videos

@@stillworksandbrewing I agree. I do a corn, oatmeal and malted wheat that's pretty good. I even jar age some on barrel staves.

it smells great and im going to figure out about the corn thing lol
what a cool recipe randy. how many gallons went into the ferment bucket?
6 gallons
This looks really good! I’m going to try this recipe for sure.
I have done the oatmeal before and turned out great but I hope the blueberries flavor comes thru
@@stillworksandbrewing I have used oatmeal as an adjunct but never as a base. You have inspired my next brew.
Great Vid, how much sparge water, and end result in volume please
What I do is sparge till I collect my 6gallons I use cool water also
You might want to invest in a furit press. Thanks for a great video as always
I have been thinking about that or make one
What if your waited 3hrs to do the starch test wouldn't it also be thinner so it will sieve better and higher sugar content.😀
This looks like a fun mash. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I have not have to look into it cheers
Did the sparge reduce your SG? IIRC you tested before sparging.
I check my sg after the sparging is done and i have collected my 6 gallons
Randy is there somewhere we can go where we can get your recipes?
Not yet i am working on my web site and part of that will be my favorite recipes so its coming just remember im a one man band cheers
Oatmeal is a tough monkey!!!!!!!!
yes it is but good
Looking forward to see how this turns out Randy!
cheers will let you know
