No back story, no prequel, not explanation as to why he is who/what he is.....just the Joker standing there on a street corner. Brilliant.

If Heath Ledger wouldn’t have passed away, then maybe they could’ve made a prequel. I would’ve liked to have seen a prequel to this Joker honestly.

Jeremiah Carter nah Nolan is better enough to leave it as it was as a masterpiece! Look at other franchises that did add on something to it and it failed or just sucked entirely! Glad he wasn’t a Hollywood greedy bastard who was in it for the money! That’s what DTK trilogy separates from DCEU and MCU

Jose Hernandez so true, but I guess like some people say it’s best that their is no origin. In a way it’s kind of up to you to decided where this joker came from. Everyone can have their own origin story for him however they want, so I guess that’s pretty cool too

Nolan is a truly talented director. Look at the shots, the cinematography (maybe the credits of this shall be given to Wally Pfister) , the quiet but still noticeable music always blending in the background. All these details get you hooked from minute 1 till end. This is how movies should be made.

The part where it shows Joker standing with his mask by his side, just pause that and examine the mise en scene.
I could talk about that one frame for about four hours, think of all the pedestrians just glued in their own bubbles not noticing this psychopath criminal standing right on the corner. He must be standing there in full make-up as seen when he un-masks at the end... interesting how the camera zooms into his mask to show us (the viewers) that we should watch this particular clown as he's important to the scene's narrative.
Just excellent, Nolan. Some directors put so much detail and thought into the composition of their shots and effect our subconscious viewing mind without us even noticing.

The Joker was so smart he planned the perfect bank heist. He had a guy take out the alarm, open the vault and take control of the lobby. Then told all of his thugs separately to take the other guy out and in the end he didn't have to do a thing and drove out with all the money. The Joker was truly a diabolical genius, and it couldn't have been played by a better actor. RIP Heath Ledger.

Me being a naive 14yr old , didn't want to watch the dark knight because 'it had that guy from brokeback mountain' in it. At the time Hancock had just come out and i was begging my parents to go see that instead of the Dark Knight. Yes, fucking Hancock. I *absolutely* love their choice of masks. EVERY mask seems to be neutral to every scene except one, in which it shines. All the characters seem to have masks that fit what they're doing. The guy with the smiling mask when he's getting the money, the joker when he's thinking if "he's out", the guy with the zipline who is always hard at work.
Perhaps this is just a side effect of actually *seeing* the masks. Perhaps it's just my mind registering them as faces, but oh well...

I know Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger's Jokers were different versions, but I always like Ledger's a little more because he had no ties to anything. In the 89 Batman Nicholson's had ties to the mob, but Ledger's Joker was just a complete psychopath who wanted nothing more than to cause anarchy and chaos, hell he burnt a pile of money. He had no ties to anything, but just wanted to watch the world burn, but don't get me wrong both versions of The Joker were fantastic.

For people who say jokers a schemer, he’s really not he wants to “ show the schemers how pathetic they’re attempts to control things really are ” , with these goons he gives each one of them a plan for how things are going to be executed, and what the role of the other members will be, each guy is going in thinking things are going to go according to the “ plan “ the joker set for them and they feel in control because of that, but that’s what the joker wants them to feel, he gave each goon a specific plan that would go against the plan of another goon and it would become chaotic from that goons perspective. He’s creating chaos among everybody, because he wants to make sure things “ don’t go according to plan “ and make it chaotic.

The whole point of payday is to re-enact famous movie heists. I think it's more of a reference than stealing ideas. If you notice, the armored car heist uses the same method as in Heat, and you get an achievement for doing 15 of those heists while wearing hockey masks.

Here's another little Easter Egg for you. The mask that Heath Ledger wears here is nearly identical to one that Cesar Romero (while playing the Joker) wears in the 1960's Batman series. Perhaps a coincidence as Cesar's mask doesn't have the red cheeks, but I've seen a few things that could be references to West's Batman (such as somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb)

2:40 This scene is not only fantastic because of the music, pacing, and acting, but also because of the writing. The bank heist offers fantastic insight into the themes that Nolan conveys with The Dark Knight. For example:
    "Is that a problem?"
    "No, I'm Dunnhier."
A strange tale of hubris right at the beginning. Here we see a guy who's so full of himself he (perhaps constantly) boasts that he can work around any problem, because "[he's] Dunnhier", the legendary thief. However, almost immediately after his first appearance, he is nonchalantly shot in the back. It really delivers Nolan's message about escalation perfectly: the low-life criminals in Gotham have no respect, even for other criminals and their previous merits. Even Dunnhier, with all his skills, is expendable.
"Criminals in this town used to believe in things... honor... respect!"

    • @inverzional6372

    • @DerpyPotater

How the bank robbery was planned out:
      - The two clowns zipline onto the roof of the bank
      - The joker and his group run into the bank lobby to take hostages
      - All of the other clowns except for the joker and one other partner get shot by the bank manager, who is then killed by the Joker. After his remaining partner yells "Where did you learn to count?!" the joker shoots him.
      - Once the guy on the roof has his defenses down the clown behind him shoots him (jokers orders)
      - The remaining clown on the roof runs down to the vault and drills into it then gets electrified by the vault, another clown taken down
      - Two clowns approach the vault and one proceeds to open it while the other shoots him (again, jokers orders)
      - The one clown in the vault fills the money bag then brings it to the joker, he then tries to turn on the joker but the joker kills him
That's how the robbery played out.

If this was my plan. The only way a plan like this too work without getting killed yourself, is for it to be planned backwards. And compartmentalized. That way nobody but the planner knows the whole plan, thus only the master planner could fuck it up.
Keep everybody on a "know-your-part-of-the-plan" basis nothing else.
I'd hire the bus driver first. tell him when and where to be, and how to arrive. Nothing else.
Second I'd hire vault guy, and tell him too find an alarm guy. Tell em to kill alarm guy after he's finished with the alarm. Tell alarm guy nothing. Tell both to zip-line onto roof.
That is the 2 clowns from the roof down so far, with bus guy still en route too kill Smart muscle.
Lastly I'd hire 2 for the front door. This includes Smart muscle and Shot by mobster muscle. Both expendable. And finally Joker in disguise. Tell both muscle to go and kill vault guy when vault guy is finished. (same vault clown both scenes, notice he finished the lock with shoes on his hands) This way if either one of the muscle dies, the other can still carry out the plan, or if both die still got the joker himself. (that's why joker told smarty pants the mobster was out, so to get em killed for less work)
I'm sure the only kink in the plan was when smart muscle was tipped off by vault guy's explanation of where alarm guy was.
      Did I miss anything!?!?!
