I listen to alot of audiobooks on YT but as soon as I heard that voice I was locked into this one. Mark has a voice of internet nostalgia.

I appreciate the summaries in the video descriptions. I always click like cuz I like your channel but there are plenty of stories I start listening to them then figure out it's not my thing. And plenty of times I'm pleasantly surprised by some story I randomly clicked on. 😁

This dude sippio never even tells jansara he thinks she's attractive and she never expressed any love for him. She's actually kind of a snob with almost no lines in the book. Yet suddenly when she dies he starts acting like they killed his beloved wife or something.
    ...... unless i missed something

Nope, that sort of thing was typical of this genre and era.

I know Kuttner was capable of better writing than this childishly sloppy fantasy. Not until Scipio enters the story does it even begin to get halfway decent, and the retrograde tropes like hypnosis are hard to endure, even if the rest had been good enough to justify putting up with them. There's a couple fun ideas, but overall this work was not good enough to justify the 330 minutes spent on it. No shade thrown at the narrator, who read the text well enough, but his time and mine could both better have been devoted to any number of worthier manuscripts.
