I have a 1995, 1996, and a 1997 UCF20 ECU and they all have different numbers and none of them matched any of the UCF20 non VVT-i USDM numbers you mentioned in the video lol Really shows how often they changed designs.
I have been going though your videos for the past month. Your weather of knowledge is great. Im in the US so I see my ls400 than anything. And look forward to some builds. I own a shop and do a ton of Toyota work. Your awesome. Keep up the good work.
You have no idea how much valuable information you’re giving us. Here in North America there is no information or parts for 1uz engines (mainly because of american LS engine and the toyota jz engines) 1uz engines are forgotten. As per Lextreme, they say the stock ECU of 1uz engines can handle up to 7 pounds of boost, however, users in the forum claim a different number. Any input on that?
Hello Fedora. Glad you find my channel helpful. I avoid boost on stock ecu. There are several different ecus which are all mapped differently. Ive seen guys have success with boost on stock ecu but also seen heaps of guys have failures. I prefer to do it once , do it right so use aftermarket on every boosted setup I do. Cheers.

Great info! Sorry if I may have missed it but what is the difference between the 175000-411x number (pn 89661-50032)? Some end with, that I have seen, 4110 4111 or 4112. I suspect my capacitors are going bad (very random misfire, all new ignition). I want to see if it is indeed the ECU before I spend the money to have it reworked or maybe I need to keep chasing down something else. I put this engine in my 1990 4Runner about 5 years ago and had no issues at all until this.
I only use the Toyota part numbers. 89661-50032 is early LS400 ecu. I see an ecu service as maintenance so never hesitate to have the ECU gone over. I cant comment on other numbers as I never use them, only the Toyota number. Cheers Kelvin

thank you for all the info and videos. i do have a question for you is there any advantage to having a particular 1uz ecu for example one might have a little bit more power or better fuel economy.
I prefer the Gen 2 ecu on the non vvti engines , in the VVti 1uz the 170 series crown make more power and the 3uz ecu is great as it can be reflashed. All have their purpose. I try to avoid the pre 94 ecus as they are getting pretty tired these days. Cheers Kelvin
Are there any tuning capabilities on the 93' sc400 ecu? Im keeping it NA and and want to go fbo (headers, exaust, intake). Im looking for a budget friendly ecu so I can get at least some sort of gains. Thanks for all the information!😃
Early SC400 ecus were able to be tuned by TOMs however this is not really a great option these days. Best to fit a suitable aftermarket ecu. Cheers Kelvin
Hello Nicholas. Sure can. As mklllsupras said a 1uz loom can be wired like an ls swap loom. Ive got a few examples like the burnt hiace. Cheers Kelvin.

@@CartuneNZ Pretty sure the motor hasnt been worked on or had manifolds swapped over or anything like that its completely stock JDM motor. my feeling is that its a very late '94 motor and perhaps was one of the last gen 1's they made before moving to gen2 and toyota just swapped the rods over early..? pistons are the same compression ratio as gen 1.
