I would assume this can done with a c1500 also? Did you drill new holes to mount the bed?? Lastly sorry riddled with questions, what exactly needed welding?
@Wrenchingwithray ok awesome! Thanks for letting me know! Definitely want to do this to mine... and where did you get the front bracket for the leaf springs ? You have a link? Thanks!
By far the easiest method I've seen, badass job bud

If you could redo something would you do it the same way?
Change the rear shock to both rear
How did you end up mounting the passenger side shock?
I actually went off shock angle from the factory and went from there, I am however moving the right shock so both are behind the axle
What size was the box you put on your truck?
6' short bed

Yes same process on a 2wd, I drilled 2 holes at the back of the frame for bed bolts, currently only have 4 of the 6 in.
Nothing needs welded, you will need to add a cross brace if you remove the spare tire carrier.
Thank you for the help! My search for a long bed begins 😅
@@killerlopez14 lol
Hey, just wondering going to be starting my 98 shortening in about a month I was wondering, how far did you have to move the differential forward?
I used the hole under the front bed mount to locate the front spring hanger, I believe it's like 18"
Hey, thanks for answering me back. Was that a 6 foot five box or was it the smaller one?
@deancameron1456 6 ft is the short bed, 8 ft is the long bed
How many inches exactly did you have to cut off the frame? And the rear leaf spring brackets, are they new stock ones?
Was like 18 and an 1/8 I think, I used the factory rear spring hangers I just bead blasted and painted them
@Wrenchingwithray ok awesome! Thanks for letting me know! Definitely want to do this to mine... and where did you get the front bracket for the leaf springs ? You have a link? Thanks!
Nice work!
Thank you
how did you do the shock mount ?
The rear one I just moved forward, the front one I notched to fit
How far did u move it forward?
Like 18" I think
Is the drive shaft the same size as a regular short bed? Or did you get a custom one?
I used one from a 4wd Tahoe/Yukon but I believe the short bed drive shaft should work.
Does it bottom out with no c notch?
Yes I am getting ready to do that lol
You got parts numbers you used?
Which parts?
thanks much
Hopefully it helped
What drive shafts did you use?
I used the factory Yukon front and rear drive shaft not xl
@@Wrenchingwithray wait, a 99-06 Tahoe shaft, is a perfect fit for a short bed 4wd?
@@Laynbodyon6s it fits mine anyway
