A Moldavian guy from Chisinau (Moldova capital) received an invitation from his Romanian aunt (which lives in Bucharest, the Romanian capital). She asked him to bring a carpet with the king Stephen the Great. (Between 1918 and 1940 Moldova was a part of Romania. In 1940 USSR took it to became a part of USSR). So from this is ”one country-two country” that recurrently appear in the song (It is the same country but now they are two countries). The guy who broke the concert is a custom officer between Moldova and Romania. He is severe but when he see the king on the carpet he recognize them as brothers and start to dance with them. The carpet is with Stephen the Great (king of a country also called Moldova between years 1447-1504. Its territory is now split between Romania and Moldova). The king is a national hero for both countries: Romania and Moldova. At the end he have to go back to the station because he forgot the carpet. You can also see an Ukrainian youtuber talking about Zdob and Zdub (which has an English translation). ua-cam.com/video/7IfN3wfEvs4/v-deo.html
Look for the lyrics. It's a song with a strong political background. About two states that are in reality one but unfortunately separated by an unjust border. About the ideal of unity of the Romanians.
As happy as the story is, the song is quite political. It's the story of a train journey between two countries that should really be the same. Moldova and Romania. Chisinau is the capital of Moldova and Bucharest is Romania's. The carpet depicts the figure of Stefan the Greatest the King of al Moldavians. Great song, powerful unity message. Love it!!

The song has such a specific and nationalistic message, that it's impossible for foreigners to understand. Only Romanians and Moldovans can understand. The song is about the unification of Moldova with Romania.
He put him to undo the carpet because he believed the men had cigarettes in the carpet to sell them and make money ( black marcket) . România & Rep. Moldova was in the past one country( Big România) , because off the russians ocupation now Rep. Moldova & România are two diferent countrys and they sing about that. They are going to Bucharest ( capital off România) and he sings about how he is felling like he never left his country because România feels like home, we speak the same lanq ,we have the same folklor etc. The carpet is for his aunt in Bucharest. His aunt want' s that carpet because she likes the carpet. Etc. Sorry for my bad english but the song is beautiful and the mesagge is amazing ❤. România united with Rep. Moldova again ❤
I did some reserach, and one specific line of English lyrics showin in the viedo is incorrect; " HJey ho! Let's go Folklore and RocknRoll Pleaca Treanu Unde esti Chisinau - Bucharest "Pleaca Treanul Unde est" actually means "the train leaves, where is it?" NOT "The trains route is east to west" The english lyrics can only have been adjusted to rhyme. only possible excuse for incorrect lyrics.
The right translation is: "Pleaca trenul, unde esti" literally means "the train is leaving, where ARE YOU?" They adapted to "train is leaving east to west", especially for rhyme, but not only...That's the smart part. Chisinau is Moldova's capital and is not even located in the east in relation to Bucharest. Actually is in north-north-east. But from a geopolitical point of view Moldova is still much more "east" oriented (i.e. much closer to Russian influence) while Romania is seen as a western country, being in EU and NATO for quite a long time. This verse synthesize moldovans' desire to get closer to the west. The song indeed carries a political message to Europe.
I appreciate the ethnic element of it, but the train goes nowhere and live it was even worse. I'm impressed you gave it two points. All that said, I still think it's a great entry to add diversity and Moldova always know how to stage this type of thing well.

If you are Russian, yes, you are not Romanian. Otherwise, you are as Romanian as possible, and Moldova is just a historical province of Romania forcibly taken away by Russia in the second world war. Stop talking nonsense and even if you are Russian, learn a bit of real history, not from the fake Russian one! Sooner or later Soviet Moldova will reunite with motherland Romania regardless of what the Russians want or not.

The song is NOT AT ALL confusing to Romanians and Moldavians. It is very clear. It is adrressed to us.
Molitva may be an amazing song from Serbia, but I think "O Mie" from 2013 is probably one of the most amazing and memorable songs from Moldova.
