well, not exactly, at least not when i do it. when i fold my tongue like a tube, its mainly just the sides of my mouth pushing on my tongue so it curls up. i feel like if i had a split tongue, it would work the same as how i can raise one eyebrow, but then its really hard to raise the other, or something like that. its probably more of a mental thing that you kind of have to practice. but this is coming from someone who has no experience so dont pay too much attention to me.

to answer grizzys question, the tongue has two basic sides of its muscles. its just connected by the pink sliver of skin in the middle and when you get your tongue split you get control over both sides of the muscle individually
