    When MVL moves Be3, the background sound just matches the duration of the move which makes a good harmony. 0:44

    All these "women can't play chess" commentators are pathetic. Try to survive one game against her. She's renowned in the world of chess and has beat a vast majority of ex world champions and the current. Don't be sexist for no reason. Women are just as capable as men to become incredible at the sport of chess. Many just don't have the obsession factor that men have, which isn't negative. Men just tend to study one thing obsessively. Or do any one thing obsessively.
    Here's an article on obsessive behavior and how it affects men in particular:
    www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-matlack/the-addiction-habit_b_781857.html

    • @TakesTwoToTango
      @TakesTwoToTango 9 років тому +2

      +Zachary Gardner "article" - Huffpost...
      To be fair though, there are other possible factors than obsessive behaviour, like differences in IQ distributions. Basically there are a whole lot of possible reasons with currently almost no way to be sure of how much all of them contribute.
      For the rest: yeah, sexism sucks. Though there IS a nuance of Polgar being kinda WAY out of other womens' league. It's a fact that women perform worse than men on the population scale at by far most competitive events :/. Just people REALLY don't know how to interpret statistics :(

    • @medexamtoolscom
      @medexamtoolscom 6 років тому +5

      Just as capable as men? That must be why only 1 of the top 100 highest active rating chess players on Earth is a woman, and that 1 is not even in the top 50, because they're just as capable. Don't be sexist for no reason? How about you stop having faith in the dogmatic premise and your foregone conclusion of tabula rasa for no reason? No one's stopping women, on the contrary, they're given preferential treatment in almost EVERYTHING because there are so many bozos like you who want to see them live up to your fantasy about them being equal or superior. It's just that in chess, both sides start with the same pieces and there's no way to make believe women are being disadvantaged by unseen sexism and justify giving them unfair advantages to ostensibly compensate for them, so the most elite are outperformed 100 to 1 by the most elite men. Just like you'd see in everything else, if the wamans had a level playing field. Why are 10% of engineers women? Because of unfairness toward men. It should be 1%. Why are 5% of fortune 500 CEOs women? Because of unfairness toward men. It should be 1%. When things are FAIR, like they are in chess, the apex men outnumber the apex women 100 to 1.

      @roqsteady5290 6 років тому

      Whilst it is perfectly possible that men have a genetic predisposition to be better at chess, we certainly can't rule out cultural reasons either. Given that the Polgar sisters chess strength was really just a function of their father's training experiment, one has to ask what would happen if the experiment was repeated millions of times - maybe then you might find some girls who had an even greater natural predisposition than the Polgars to be able to compete in high level chess. who knows? But it may be significant that the one time the experiment was tried it did lead to a female player who was able to compete at or close to the highest level.

      Ra8+ - Rc8 ... Rg8+ - Re7 (only move) RxR - d1=D ...Rae8+ Rf7 - Rf8 + (protecting f3, and it's 1-0 because you got 4 pawns and 2 towers vs queen and knight, (and probably you got more tricks to take the queen))

    IF,IF they were smart in any of these events they would have a camera setup like you see at football games where the camera being overhead is remotely controlled along a wire on the whole field. You could get way better views of the game instead of at 25° angle or so.

  • @MegaHenningsen
    @MegaHenningsen 10 років тому

    Can anyone explain why the clock is wired to the board!?

    • @fallingsnowgirl
      @fallingsnowgirl 10 років тому +2

      inside the clock is a computer that records all the moves made during the game for the tournament administrators

    • @d0wnpour
      @d0wnpour 10 років тому +1

      Not sure what fallingsnowgirl is talking about lol. Anyway, the clock is wired to provide the actual clock times to the internet audience as all games were translated live.

    • @fallingsnowgirl
      @fallingsnowgirl 10 років тому

      WurzelAusZwei
      I don't think I can be any more clear than I was.... These DGT clock+board combos have a computer inside that reads the moves as they are made. The pieces have sensors inside them, as do each square on the board, so when a move is made, it is recorded by the computer and sent to the tournament administrators, the audience, a chess engine for live analysis, and even web sites.

    • @d0wnpour
      @d0wnpour 10 років тому

      fallingsnowgirl You said there is a "computer" inside the clock that records the moves which is not true. The clock has nothing to do with the translation of moves, it only provides the clock times obviously. Moves can be translated without a wired clock. :)

    • @Utroll

    I hate feminists, especially those whiny, irrational, unscientific, snivelling liberals consisting of both men and women that preach the anti-male, feminist nonsense.
    However, I do not hate women and I'm dismayed at the lack of respect shown toward women on this video thread. While I'm of the opinion that men have an innate biological advantage, Judit is a great player and was number 8 in the world at her peak. Women can achieve great heights in chess, it's just going to be very hard for a woman to be world champion due to the biological statistical distributions involving IQ, visuo-spatial advantage, in depth calculation ability etc together with the sheer numbers of men that get into chess relative to women.
    Respect Judit and save your vitriole for the feminists poisoning our society.

    • @sainter1
      @sainter1 9 років тому +6

      +Indra Blade What a crock of shit! Chess is a mathematical game in essence - gender is irrelevant, especially on said biological basis. And males have the same IQ as females - in fact women are now beginning to pass males in some studies because of their more diligent learning skills. The reason why women have not produced a world chess champ is simple: there aren't anywhere near as many female players as there are males, for the same reason why there are no male knitting champions lol - it's a participation thing. You sound like a typical right winger who's already made his mind up about women regardless of the facts. Men and women are different in a range of areas but mental capacity or abstract thought or logic/mathematical analysis is not one of them.

    • @sainter1
      @sainter1 8 років тому +9

      +Up Whats What are you talking about? Their chest is weaker? What does that have to do with it? As for GMS, they created two classes of GMs because chess is controlled by men lol. There is absolutely no reason why women cannot compete with men if they had the same participation rate - guaranteed. I'll give you an analogy: engineering. They used to believe women would not make good engineers because it was believed women were too impractical, that's not the case anymore as more and more women become engineers.

    • @Utroll
      @Utroll 7 років тому +2

      and Olympic games are made by men too ? That's why there's two classes ?
      Nobody disputes that women can be engineers or painters or athletes...
      Marie Curie had 2 Nobel prizes long before you came whinning about this unfair men's world, but you missed the point if you want a strict equality between women and men, you should eventually complain to Nature.
