Did the Virgin Mary give the Rosary to St. Dominic? Tim Staples answers a caller on Catholic Answers Live.
Tim Staples is Director of Apologetics and Evangelization here at Catholic Answers, but he was not always Catholic. Tim was raised a Southern Baptist. Although he fell away from the faith of his childhood, Tim came back to faith in Christ during his late teen years through the witness of Christian televangelists. Soon after, Tim joined the Marine Corps.
During his four-year tour, he became involved in ministry with various Assemblies of God communities. Immediately after his tour of duty, Tim enrolled in Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. During his final year in the Marines, however, Tim met a Marine who really knew his faith and challenged Tim to study Catholicism from Catholic and historical sources. That encounter sparked a two-year search for the truth. Tim was determined to prove Catholicism wrong, but he ended up studying his way to the last place he thought he would ever end up: the Catholic Church!
He converted to Catholicism in 1988 and spent the following six years in formation for the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, Pennsylvania. He then studied theology on a graduate level at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, for two years. Realizing that his calling was not to the priesthood, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.

"Scholars" living 800 years removed from the events deny the traditions of the Church's laity. They discount the writings of Saints and Popes living 5 or 6 centuries closer to the events as "lacking proof"". Who is really lacking proof here?
Personally I consider Chesterton to be much wiser on this subject than any "scholar' whether secular of religious.
"“It is quite easy to see why a legend is treated, and ought to be treated, more respectfully than a book of history. The legend is generally made by the majority of people in the village, who are sane. The book is generally written by the one man in the village who is mad.”

It is the Dominicans themselves that are denying this ever happened. I believe it happened. Anything is possible with God. St. Louis de Montfort wouldn't lie about our Lady like that or discredit her.

I just want to say that modernism and the "historical critical" method of scripture study have de-mythologized most of scripture to the point where some more modernist scholars question the entire bible (Jesus Seminars). Scott Hahn in his book, Covenant and Communion explains Pope Benedict understanding of the limitations of Historical Criticism and cautions against dismissing Super nature. Also, we must be sensitive not to offend those who have a faith that is strongly grounded in Supernature, Christ himself advises that our faith must be like a child, we need balance, and we need to Love our fellow Catholics regardless of how they choose to believe. Of course, when one starts to dabble into Teilhard de Chardin, and his "omega point" and "law of complexity conscientiousness" where he understands we are "evolving" toward "Christ" that is a little hard to take! Detrick Von Hildebrand wrote an excellent work "Trogen Horse in the City of God" that explains Chardin's erroneous and apostate thinking.

Nice video! I recently made a video about Mary and the rosary. I did a bit of research on the rosary and it seems to have evolved quite a bit over time. Cool and informative video. :)

why is it that you guys don't allow people to speak? why does it seem that you cut them off? is it because of time? I'm genuinely curious.

I wonder that too sometimes, I do believe is because of the limited time they have.

YOU ARE TRYING TO INTERPET SOMETHING THAT IS A STAPLE OF TRUTH AND ONE SHOULD TAKE IT AS YES THE ROSARY WAS GIVEN TO ST. DOMINIC.SUCH AS IN THE BIBLE. SAY YES WHEN YOU MEAN YES AND NO WHEN YOU MEAN NO ANYTHING IN BETWEEN IS FROM THE EVIL ONE BECAUSE IT BRINGS CONFUSION. AND THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. MAY GOD SHOW YOU LIGHT.
