Now for the Grand Finale! Turning hay into GOLD! I mean real glittery sparkling gold not cash for the hay crops!!🇨🇦🤣
WE put in a new circle pivot last here in Eastern Washington at a cost of 127.000$ , covering 127 acers . Our last circle lasted 40 years [ at a cost of aprox. 30,00$ ] , we get 4 cuttings a year of alfalfa hay . [Today hay is selling for aprox. 180 $ a ton ] . [Was selling a couple years ago for 300$ a ton ] Think about growing sweet corn & selling directly to customers . Kallstrom Sweet Corn , Ephrata , Washington . U.S.A.
Totally different over here mate
The water has to last thats the key. Near me a cattle feedlot went in using 500 megalitres a year and has sucked the neighbours bore dry so they have to go down another stream maybe 200 metres deep costing a fortune and they cant do a thing about it.
They're gambling with those large pivots. They should use 4 small pivots instead of each large pivot. That way when one pivot fails (guaranteed to happen), they still have 75% uptime.
Solar and farming in the dry tropics are a good combination: when no sun, not much water needed. No expensive batteries, at most a water tower.
Its about time you showed this 🤗
Lot of negative feedback for someone having the balls to -hav a go-,all the best to them!!
A lot of acreage, did you try running a metal detector behind your farm equipment to map out potential gold finds?
I've seen this once on the t v but wasn't on anymore.
We put in 17 quarter pivots this spring water is main line of life
Get good at what you do first. Stay safe.
Cattle prices are really low now so the feed will be worth crap now and for those that don’t know this is old and the venture didn’t work
did they go broke ???
Rhodes grass is pretty good for dry and saline conditions, you should test Buffel grass too. Better hay quality and loves sandy soils and heat.
There’s three 100 acres pivot farm just out from Stuart’s well roadhouse .
If there was money in it all farmers would be doing it!
Not everyone can get money from the bank. Most of farming these days require large bank loans.
And once the aqua is gone then
Better keep the soil fertility up🤞🏼
Peanut Country but you will need to water all 4 at the same time
Bett there broke now
And what if they are fair play for trying I wish them success in the future
Bet where leaving the dream… mate!!!
I bet those farmers still manage to make a loss and still expect Government handouts and tax breaks
The other thing is how much will the farmers demand from the govt when their "Hay" is lost to fire!!!
If they don't make any net income, they won't pay income tax.
However, they may be forclosed on. Secondly they have to wear insurance costs. It is a very risky business.
Don't say it with your mouth full of tucker ol mate
you should have a 7x19 wire on the pump ya drongo
