    Great video, well explained. My main water supply pipes go right underneath the floor boards and as far as I can see there is valves to shut the water off between the floor up to the taps, anybody any advice to fix a dripping tap without shutting off the water?

    • @bandq
      @bandq  2 роки тому

      Hi, unfortunately you will need to stop the water supply going to your tap while fixing it. If you don't have an isolation ball valve, you will need to turn it off at your stopcock. It will be located somewhere around your home. Sorry we couldn't be more helpful!

      You could try running the hot tap until it is hot. If the hot tap is leaking, it will take a long time for the drips to become cold.

    Thank you very much for your info,its funny really because I am a mechanic and I even fix hydrostatic transmissions on bobcats but still I have never had to fix a tap before my wife thinks that it was hilarious me well I was embarrassed but I went to bunnings and actually got that assembly as in the valve and washer in a five dollar kit but still the way you explain the process was super simple and if I ever get that problem again I will be able to help out thank you again.

    • @joewellfair8238
      @joewellfair8238 Рік тому

      This is exactly what was going to ask. I'm guessing you can just figure it out, by turning the pipes off once at a time underneath the tap. If the dripping stops when one is closed, that's the one leaking

    The video does not mention whether this repair is for the cold tap, hot tap or both. .?

    • @bandq
      @bandq  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Richard. Essentially, it’s the same process - where possible you should turn the isolation valve off for each tap. One will feed hot and one cold. Then drain the remaining water from tap, being careful with the hot.
      If there isn’t an isolation valve you should follow the video guidance and switch off the external water supply. Then drain the remaining water. This method requires more water to drain from the system - particularly with the hot water supply when it comes from a hot water tank. It’s important that it’s drained completely.
