This video honestly just stopped a leak overflowing overnight, thank you
Phew! That was close! Glad we could help 🙌
great vid, so well explained with the moving diagram. for people not in the industry the terms mean nothing so great to see something where everyone can understand. hats off
Thank you James 😊 We want to show that DIY is for everyone 🛠
Can't believe it was as simple as that, but it was! Thank you for sharing a great video
Thanks, SHORT and sweet! The trouble with most DIY vids is that they take forever to make their points.
Thanks for your comment! Glad you liked it 🥰
Just fixed my grandma's leaky tap with this video! Thanks a lot!
Aww that's brilliant to hear, we're happy this helped! 😊
Go B & Q!!! You tube tap fixer! Didn’t expect that
You can do it... When you B&Q it 🤭
Great thanks 😊, slightly off subject but I noticed none of the products at the store tell you what they are or how to use them - not everyone that visits B and Q is a workman. But these vidios are great thanks.
Hi Ben, thank you for your feedback!
Thanks a lot. Had not exact problem, but this really helped with understanding how this stuff works, whats may be wrong and how to disassemble this stuff.
Thank you sir .when tap water leaking.i call man to do. now i going to try .follow your video. thanks s'pore
You're welcome 😄 It's a good way to save yourself some money!
How did we survive before these videos!!?? What satisfaction! 😄
Glad you've found our videos helpful 🥰
Great video, well explained. My main water supply pipes go right underneath the floor boards and as far as I can see there is valves to shut the water off between the floor up to the taps, anybody any advice to fix a dripping tap without shutting off the water?
Your stopcock may be located outside
Hi, unfortunately you will need to stop the water supply going to your tap while fixing it. If you don't have an isolation ball valve, you will need to turn it off at your stopcock. It will be located somewhere around your home. Sorry we couldn't be more helpful!
Great video from Matt and the Lady well done BQ
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
How do you know if it’s the left or right jumper that you need to replace on a kitchen tap?
You could try running the hot tap until it is hot. If the hot tap is leaking, it will take a long time for the drips to become cold.
Thank you very much for your info, its funny really because I am a mechanic and I even fix hydrostatic transmissions on bobcats but still I have never had to fix a tap before my wife thinks that it was hilarious me well I was embarrassed but I went to bunnings and actually got that assembly as in the valve and washer in a five dollar kit but still the way you explain the process was super simple and if I ever get that problem again I will be able to help out thank you again.
There's a first time for everything 👏💪
@@bandq there most Certainly is, but in saying that I am positive that many people men and women who have not had to call out a plumber or home handyman because of your well done and insightful videos, and I am sure that I speak for many people who at the moment I think that many of us are finding it hard to feed a family and keep up with the normal bills, but people like yourself have possibly saved many families at a minimum of a $50 call out fee plus the repair again every cent matters right now as we have tax time and rising costs in absolutely everything cheers.
It looks straightforward but I won't attempt to do this myself in case I end up flooding the place! I'm generally ok with repairs and odd jobs around the house but I'm going to have to shell out for a plumber, watch what he does and take notes.
That always can be the best way to learn! You'll be a pro in no time :D
Only thing is...the tap wont come off...its on too tight...
Are u twisting it the right way
@@Keeperlit333 if its been on for months or years, it's a struggle to get it off...those taps look brand new...they would be easy to remove...
Try loosening it mate.
Because its too tight is probably why it's leaking. I had same issue
Same mine is chewed and bolt is stripped can’t get it off
Thank you
You're welcome 😊
Thanks dude!
Happy to help!
Thanks, I'm going in......!!
Your welcome! How did you get on? 😄
thanks - very useful.
Glad you liked it 🥰
How do you know which tap to replace the washer in - the cold one or the hot one or do you just replace the washer in both?
This is exactly what was going to ask. I'm guessing you can just figure it out, by turning the pipes off once at a time underneath the tap. If the dripping stops when one is closed, that's the one leaking
Usefull thanks
You're welcome 😄
If it looks like there’s 2 valves do you turn both??
Hi, Hannah. Thanks for your question. If there are two valves then yes you would turn them both so as to shut the water off fully. Hope this helps! 😄
ill try this
💪
The video does not mention whether this repair is for the cold tap, hot tap or both. .?
Hi Richard. Essentially, it’s the same process - where possible you should turn the isolation valve off for each tap. One will feed hot and one cold. Then drain the remaining water from tap, being careful with the hot.
If there isn’t an isolation valve you should follow the video guidance and switch off the external water supply. Then drain the remaining water. This method requires more water to drain from the system - particularly with the hot water supply when it comes from a hot water tank. It’s important that it’s drained completely.
My tap head was really stiff but i got it off eventually, however the tap screw would not come out at all. Probably will call a plumber now
Hope you managed to get it sorted 🙏
How did you manged to get the tap head off? I have the same exact issue
@@bandq Yes, had to spend like £300 for a plumber and new tap.
Thanks B&Q!
Hi, this is very helpful. Can you please get me the b and q link for this washer?
We're glad this was helpful 🙌 You can view our range of kitchen taps on the following link: bit.ly/3bRV3nW 😊
I can't get the tap to stop rotating :(
Hi Theo, you should be able to tighten the tap from underneath. I hope this helps!
Thank you, doing this tomorrow 👍
Brilliant! How did you get on? 😁
So how is best o figure out if it's the hot or cold mixer tap washer tap that is causing the drip?
Turn off inline supply for each one.
maybe replace both to be safe
And if you have different taps to the ones shown in the video? Would be really useful to show how these come off. I have previously fixed dripping taps myself but my new property has different taps that don't come off that way. Can't find a suitable video anywhere.
Each tap varies with the technique needed to remove them. If you purchased your taps from B&Q we'd recommend popping into your local store and they'll be able to assist further 😊
the screw doesnt even come out for me to take the tap off. the screwdriver wont even hold the screw at all, just goes round and round. i dont know what to do. my tap is not just dripping noe. its now running a minimum amount of water constantly☹
I’ve the same problem it’s limescale which has caused them to stick
Thanks a lot
Great and all but B&Q don’t sell the washers as far as I can work out.
Honestly forgot about the stop tap for the tap under the sink, id forgotten it was there, thought id have to turn of the mains.
How do I know what washer I Need the size and fit?
Hi, there. Thanks for your question. The easiest way to ensure you're picking out the right washer size for your tap is to physically remove the old one and measure it. That way, if you decide to buy tap washers online, you'll be able to sort products by the exact size you need! Hope this helps 😊
Hi I am getting hot water in the shower. But kitchen & bathroom sink the water is coming when hot tap turned on but it’s coming out cold/ luke warm -can anyone help with this what is the issue?
Off to B&Q I go. Cheers
Except the tap I bought is molded so u cant get to the nut!
Cheers pal
Good video, but if you find the headnut is stuck fast, look out for the easy tapslitter, makes it so much easier.
Already have water faucets with ceramic gasket
Hello B&Q
Good morning ☀ Is there anything we can assist with? 😊
@@bandq no I just wanted to say hi
Thanks helpful
so I need to insert a new washer to stop it from dripping?
Yes
drip drip from the tap dont slip
😂
What causes a huge groaning sound throughout the house when I use the taps/flush the loo etc? It's so loud. We have had a plumber look he changed a valve he said and it worked but the problem came back within a few days.
Air in the system
@@mick0284 Thanks people. It was a foghorn sound but is now fixed. Something to do with the main tap where you turn the main water off or on apparently.
@@JaYb97716 hiya mate, having the exact same issue. Was the fix changing the valve or was there an something else done? Trying to avoid calling a plumber
@@tobisolola3724 I think it was the main tap where you turn the water off for your house. Is there a valve there? It was definitely solved when my local plumber fixed something there. I had a look for any paperwork or a receipt but can't find it sorry mate. Hope you get it sorted.
@@JaYb97716 I might change the valve and see if that solves it. Thanks a lot
thanx..alot..really...helpfull😆
Any1 got any hints on just getting them H & C caps off so I can undo the tap please
@@bandq yea because mental Micky in store will be about as helpful as a chocolate tea pot.....
Shut up and stop being a bully bandq is just being helpful
I took the handle off my tap and it revealed a large gold nut and just under that was where the leaking was coming from so I tightened it and then it wouldn’t turn off so I kept trying then I got it to stop dripping and then I turned it on and off and then it got worse
how do you remove headgear nut when its rounded off?
Might have to drill it off, only a guess though
@@marshmellow2683 sorted some time ago now
@@andyroughyed3642 how did u get around it?
@@funhomestay1370 didn't I replaced the tap.

I used the wrong washer. I’m now under water.
Oh no! If you need any assistance, please pop by your local store and they may be able to help on how to repair this 🛠
Why is this recommended to me?
Standout explanation.
Thank you 😊
Different tap needs different washer sizes? Remind me of something else. Imagination runs wild! Ommmm...pure clean thoughts. Lol😂 Turn off!
