Sarah never looked down on Hagar all the days when she was pregnant. But if you can check the verse clearly which says.
    Genesis 16:5 (NKJV)
Then Sarai said to Abram, “My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me.”
So don't represent Sarah in the wrong way. She didn't behave cruelly to her maid servant.

Lovely short film; to focus on Hagar's suffering - to tell her story. For a bit of clarity -- this is what I learned from the Hebrew Bible/Torah in worship from Chapters 16-25 (I am a Christian). Simply quoting; no bias intended.
In Genesis 16:1-1 shows the relationship between Sarai & Hagar. Hagar was a slave/servant/bondswoman. She began to despise Sarai after being sent to sleep with Abram. They despised each other. Sarai treated her badly, so she ran away. In the desert angel of the Lord told her she was pregnant with Ishmael, go back to her mistress & submit to her. Her son would have many descendants.
When he was 13 years old, Ishmael was circumcised at the same time as all other males in Abraham's household, becoming a part of the covenant in a mass circumcision. His father Abram, was given the new name "Abraham" after he was circumcised himself with all of the household. Abraham cared about Ishmael & was not happy with Sarah’s attitude towards Ishmael; he was his son.
Abraham was blessed so his descendants would be as “numerous as the stars in the sky” (Gen 26:4). God would make of Ishmael a great nation because he was of the seed of Abraham. However, God told Hagar that her son would be living in conflict with his relatives.
God told Abraham not to worry about Ishmael & Hagar. Also the Lord told him he would make a nation of Hagar’s son too because Ishmael is your so too. (Gen 21:-12-13)
When Ishmael was 14, he was freed along with his mother.
God’s promise to make another nation from Ishmael began to be fulfilled when Ishmael had twelve sons who headed twelve tribes (Genesis 25:16).
Would have liked to seen more interaction between Hagar, Abram, & Sarai after Hagar returned.

In the wilderness, hagar and ishmael faced great hardship, including running out of water. In a moment of desperation, Hagar cried out loud to god, and he provided a well for them. this act of divine intervention is seen as a demonstration of god's care and provision for the outcast and marginalized.
The story of hagar is a powerful narrative resillience, faith, and the presence of god in times of struggle. It highlights themes of family dynamics, jealousy, mistreatment, and ultimately god's compassion & protection.

For me it is a word, that shows how deeply connected the three abrahamitic religions are.
It is a prophetic word, which can show us, how we can come togehter in a respectful brother- and sisterhood of being different and being connected.

Sorry sis but we cant have sisterhood or brotherhood with any religion besides christianity, judaism and islam reject the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins, also they rejected the deity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus, they reject the Trinity, and islam believes Ishmael is the son of promise instead of Isaac which is unbiblical, we must respect everyone but not the beliefs that go against our Lord and Saviour
So no,never believe that satanic lie of brotherhood between religions,Only Jesus is the truth the way and the life and nobody comes to the Father if not through Him,mere Christianity is the only religion that posesses the truth
If we love them we need to preach the gospel to save their lives, because "brotherhood" will condemn them and even us for not telling the truth of the Lord in His Holy Word, take care and God bless, study more about the Word and what other religions really believe to avoid those kind of beliefs

YOU need to 'read your Bible carefully.' If you did, you would clearly see that Hagar started to look down at Sarah, like she was superior, after she got pregnant. Those are the facts. All the things you have stated, she was forced to be with an old man, she was kicked out by Sarah etc., do NOT erase the fact that she started to despise Sarah, look down upon her, because she could do what Sarah couldn't do, and that is get pregnant. She PROVOKED Sarah. Period.

The truth is that both Sarah and Hajar were good to each other. Once Ismael peace be upon him was born, Sarah being childless was sad that she didn't have one of her own.
It is just natural psychology to feel envy over Hajar.
But the reason that Abraham peace be upon him, left his younger wife Hajar with his beloved infant Ismael in the desert was because God Almighty Commanded him to do so.
Hence Prophet Abraham peace be upon him was obeying God Almighty's Orders which orders were sent as a test for him.

Sarah did not just start to treat Hagar harshly for no reason. The Bible says, in Genesis 16 v. 4 "And he (Abram) went in unto Hagar (had intimate relations with her), and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress (Sarah) was despised in her eyes." Why did the makers of this film exclude this fact from the narrative, and choose to portray Sarah as just a bully? I wanted to like this short film, but I sense propaganda here, so it's a hard pass for me, thanks. It is unhelpful to portray biblical characters as tropes, like you do here in presenting Hagar as an innocent victim. The Bible time and time again shows that its characters were real people with sometimes paradoxical characters. Bye!

It is tough, sometimes, being God's servant. May any harsh and nit-picking comments wash over you, and wash away. Whilst folk argue, they miss the point. This is what Jesus told us about, and Paul pointed out. The heart of the Law is lost when the letter of the law is upheld without mercy and grace. It seems the majority of the depictions of the main characters of women in the Bible were of getting married or having babies as the main storyline. The accounts of their contact with angelic beings seem to focus on the future birth of a son (mostly males). I wonder that they did not experience these communications at many other times with so much going on.

Thank you for this short film. I love to see clearly how much we need the One who sees us. The thing that has always fascinated me about this story that the Angel of the Lord chose the name of the child.
[11] The Angel of the Lord continued, “Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall name him Ishmael (God hears), Because the Lord has heard and paid attention to your persecution (suffering).
    Gen.16.11.AMP
Dio ha visto il dolore di Sara e le ha dato God saw Sarah's pain and gave her Isaac. He saw Hagar's pain and gave her own promise with Ishmael. He saw Abraham's and gave him what he did not expect to have, children (8 children in total, Genesis 25:2) and a numerous descendants.

The rituals of islamic Hajj at Mecca are all re-enactment on the footprints of Ibraham, Ismael and Hagar. Hagar put the baby Ismael on the ground in the wilderness (where now is Mecca) and ran several times on the mountains Saffa and Marwa for seeing some signs of humans or villages around. She ran up the mountain then ran down towards the baby to see if he is ok. Then she saw that a fountain erupted on the ground at the foot marks of the baby. She called it Zam-Zam. Hajj performers walk on these mountains to commemorate Hagar. Similarly when Ismael grew up Abraham saw a dream in which he was slaughtering his son. Seeing it as order from Allah Abraham took his son to jungle to sacrifice his son. When they were going Satan followed them and Satan was arguing with Abraham not to do this sacrifice. Abraham threw stones at Satan. And this ritual of throwing stones is performed during pilgrimage of Hajj. Later on Abraham and Ismael built Kaaba near the fountain of Ismael where people perform Hajj and do prayers.

    Galatians 4:23
But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
    Galatians 4:27
For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
    Galatians 4:30-31
Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

What the film omits to say when quoting the Bible is verse 12 from Genesis 16:12. The angel of the Lord also said this to Hagar, and this is exactly how the arabic world treats other nations and especially their brothers, the jews. So the film is very subjective. A truth half said is a lie.
    Gen. 16:12
    "He will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
    and everyone’s hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
    toward all his brothers.”

I would say, if Sarah had trusted in God and what he said, and not gave Hagar to Abraham, none of those feelings would have happened. And Hagar got snippy with Sarah. It was both their fault. Lord forgive me if I speak out of my place, but it was also Abraham to blame because as the head of his home he should have said “No” so Sarah. But God makes good even out of our lack of faith because he is a God of love ❤️

    • @77bunnie
      @77bunnie 8 місяців тому +2

The purpose of the story is not to depict who is at fault. It is to show God's love. Despite all that happened, God showed Himself to Hagar in her suffering. Women in pain need to see that God sees them in their pain and is there to help them through it if they just trust Him. Sara already knew God and could go to God for help and forgiveness. As a Gentile Hagar, did not really know God for herself until she met Him at the well and realized that He really did see her. The film is not meant to cast blame. It is meant to heal the broken heart.

Surah 10:94 - If you, O Prophet, are in doubt about the stories We have revealed to you, then ask those who read the Book before you, and from these verses it becomes clear that God sent down the Torah and the Gospel is His Word. Christians and Jews are told to rule by their holy books and to keep everything written in them. Muhammad himself asserts that Christians and Jews had their own holy books during his lifetime, according to Jami' al-Tirmidhi 2653. Furthermore, we know from manuscript evidence that the Bible in existence today matches the Bible from Muhammad's time. But here's the problem, the Bible and the Qur'an teach things that contradict each other.
For example, in the Bible, Jesus predicted his death and resurrection several times (Matthew 21:16, Matthew 22:17-23, Matthew 17:20-19, Mark 8:31, Luke 22:9), and yet the Qur 'an says That Jesus did not really die (Surat 4:157). The clearest statement regarding Jesus' divinity is found in John 1:1-3, where Jesus is referred to by the word:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. By Him all things were created; Without Him, nothing would have been possible.
A few verses later in John 1:14, we see that the Word (Jesus) came into this world as a man.
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us
This is a clear statement in the Bible that Jesus is divine and came to earth as a human being. But in Surah 5:116, Jesus denies his divinity.
Jesus is referred to as the Son of God throughout the Gospels (Luke 1:30-35, Matthew 14:32-22, Matthew 16:13-17, John 11:25-27, Mark 3:11) and God the Father . He calls Jesus his son (Mark 1:11, Mark 9:3, Matthew 3:17, Luke 9:35).
However, the Qur'an says that God has no son in Surah 17:111. From these contradictions alone, we can conclude that both the Bible and the Qur'an cannot be the word of God. Many Muslims have realized this fact and concluded that the Bible must have been distorted, but the Qur'an says no such thing.
Rather, the Qur’an affirms the inspiration, preservation, and authority of the Holy Bible. If there was corruption, we would expect to see evidence of it in the biblical manuscripts we have - many of which predate the Qur’an. But we do not see such evidence of corruption in the manuscripts. Although there is no indication in the Holy Qur’an about the distortion of the Bible, and there is no evidence of the distortion of manuscripts, Muslims are still forced to believe that the Bible is distorted because it contradicts The Quran.
      This presents another problem.
The Qur’an states that there is no altering of the words of God:
Surah 18:27 Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book of your Lord. No one can change His words, and without Him you will find no refuge.
      And
Surah 6:115 The word of your Lord has been completed in truth and justice. No one can change His words. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
If the Qur’an affirms that the Bible is the word of God (Surah 3:3, Surah 5:47, Surah 5:68) and that the word of God cannot be changed, then we can logically conclude that:
If the Qur’an is true, then the Bible is true. If the Bible is true, then the Qur’an is false.

Inaccurate portrayal of the Scriptures. I really wish the makers of Bible films would stick to the Scriptures and less to creative license to lean unto their own understanding.

Thank you for your comment! The film is inspired by Genesis 16. Some creative liberty was taken to develop dialogue and scene interaction. The original story can be found in the Bible, which is where people should search to discover the original story!
