@@bensmithkent22 I actually really like the Ray episodes. I think Webster had big boots to fill but at least created an original character instead of copying Waterman. Most people don't even know the Shane Ritchie incarnation exists so they can't blank it out. I have watched all of them though (and all the George Cole episodes.)
So great even some ofah copied or took certain inspiration from some of these. They must have overlapped for several years. The glory years of both I mean.
Sad to hear Dennis Waterman leave us so suddenly. At 74 it's still quite a young age. RIP Terry, I'm sure Arthur will need a helping hand in the skies above.
Magic, I loved these as a kid. They were brilliant. In either 84 or 85,, I forget which, they were voted t.v times best children's programe. I for one was allowed to stay up late on a Wednesday to watch them. I still take guidance from the book " Athur Daily's guide to doing it right" . Thanks for sharing this with us👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
'Minder' was one of the best British shows. Here in Australia, seemingly everyone loved 'Terry' and 'Arthur'. Long live the comedy/drama. Only the Brits can produce such extraordinary productions. AND Terry/Dennis Waterman RIP. Aussies are unlikely to see your like again.
Yes ,a very much liked show n my youth kept realism adventure and me at home by a reasonable hour not stuck n a 🐖 cell 4 the nite , This show and Lost in space 🛸 were sum of my all time favourites
Speaking as someone who was only out of work for about 3 weeks in the 80's - but out of work for 3 weeks nonetheless - those old 80's Job Centres still give me a chill down my spine to this day.
I remember this scene like its yesterday only thing me and my dad really had common he used to work nights every Thursday he would come home from a night shift we would tape minder and watch it together because on Wednesday night Dallas and the young ones used to be on bbc and I used to stop late on a school night with my mum to watch it hehe nice memories
I wish I was still at work as I would do that. "You're short? Why didn't you say?" Puts hand inside the jacket and then quickly, points to the computer "Oh! look at that way!" Removes hand. lol
True story.....Last week I visited an eye clinic at my local hospital and while I was sitting in the waiting room one of the Doctors came out to call his next patient and said "Terrence McCann please", it made me smile lol
love it . the little gesture of charity by pretending to give terry a helping hand by placing his hand inside his jacket pocket to reach his wallet, then with cat like reflexes pull his hand away and catches terry off guard by changing the subject of a prospect job vacancy on the board.
1:34. Just love the scheming/ devious look on George Cole's face when Terry starts enquiring about the job vacancy and it looks like he might be about to lose him (and the way G.C. slowly approaches into the shot from behind Terry). You can tell the cogs are whirring. "No you ain't my son, you're staying with me" is what G.C. is saying to himself. Absolute top-notch acting. He makes it appear so effortless and natural. For these 8 secs. or so he doesn't say anything, hardly moves and hardly does anything, yet he is the one that's really acting, not D.W. and the lady. Rest In Peace Mr Cole. You thoroughly deserve it for all the joy and laughter you brought
haha, he thought the job center was the new Pub haha got to remember that one! :) thanks Arthur and even today in 2022 still feels like 1984 or so anyway great show
Jobcentres today are very different from how they were back in the 1980s. The contrast is stunning. It's a trip down memory lane to be reminded of how it was. They're more about policing claimants these days. Their role has changed beyond all recognition.
Arthur is the classic "spiv". Poor Terry - the way he says he has a "season ticket to the casualty ward". I laughed out loud at that line. Every line and gesture was brilliant in this marvelous program. Even the way Arthur says the words "civilians" and even more disdain for the word "workers" made me laugh. And his hollow phony grab for his wallet - and his faster retraction was gold - typical Arthur.
Along with only fools and horses, minder was compelling viewing, thanks to arfur and terry. Both superb actors. R i p george and dennis, never forgotton.
The easiest pull in history! Only Terry McCann and Joey Boswell from Bread are known to have ever scored at the dole. You were lucky to even get your dole money. Even luckier to get a job. Or _unlucky_ to get a job, depending on your point of view.
RIP Terry, Arthur and Dave.
George Cole was a master of comic timing. There was nobody better and I mean nobody!
Minder had a warmth and realism that is sadly lacking in modern tv....miss those wonderful times
Chris Evans there's a channel on UA-cam with many,if not all full episodes of minder.
You can blame political correctness for that!
Stand on me
Bought the DVD boxset the Dennis Waterman years before they edit it like Only Fools.
Played by anyone else, Arthur would have been a horrible person but George Cole was a master. RIP
bodie of ci5 He certainly was.
Spot on
Shane Richie played someone else.
@@thursoberwick1948 we pretend that didnt exist. I cant even stomach the ray daley years.

Thought the Job Centre was a pub. Every moment complete gold 😆......😢 RIP George and Dennis.

Every episode of Minder is packed full of comedy gold like this, Arthur and Terry are absolute legends in my book.

In the days when a man was allowed to flirt with a woman without it being considered a ‘hate’ crime!
The girl in the Job Centre was gorgeous ❤
there was no actual flirting there

One of the funniest Minder scenes ever, "This isn't for you...this is for civilians"
That's Arthur's army training kicking in as he fights on the front line of enterprise!
I specifically searched for this scene.
Love them brilliant the pair of them.RIP .

Arthur Daley wouldn't pay for a stamp on a postcard
Only Terry could pull in the job centre. 😂
He would pull the thing from the black lagoon that works in my job centre. He'd be running for the door.
Terry never had a problem pulling the birds.
great to see an 80s jobcentre. classic.
