Claudio Botelho, the translator, is a genius! He's done the Brazilian versions of virtually all the big Broadway musicals that have played in Brazil, and he's virtually infallible with everything from Kander & Ebb to Sondheim. If I didn't know that this was originally written in English I'd never suspect that it wasn't a Portuguese lyric. Botelho's translations are colloquial, funny, idiomatic and Brazilian without losing the sense of the original. Very high praise, indeed!

@trilingual1946 BTW, this comes from an anthology album of Porter & Gershwin classics translated by Botelho into Portuguese. Sorry I don't remember the title right now, but if you can find it, snap it up. Brilliant arrangements and performances by the very best of Brazil's singers -- the absolute crème de la crème of Brazilian talent!
