Most women after delivery can bleed first few days upto 1 week like a period like bleeding . After that the bleeding comes down gradually. At times a little spotting, a little irregular bleeding can occur until 6 weeks from the time of delivery. This is related to your child birth and this is not called as periods. So after this happens post partum, this is when you get back to your pre pregnancy status . Your cycles will starts again when you are actively or partially feeding the baby. If your bay is not dependent on formula milk and baby is exclusively fed by the mother, and you are having good lactation. Partial feeding is wherein some of the babies go in for formula milk because of reduced amount of milk in some mothers. So in mothers who are feeding exclusively and have plenty of mil sufficient for the baby, they can have their cycles a late as 9 months and most commonly it starts after 6 month also, but many women, especially in women who are partially feeding with mother, the can have their cycle the end of 6 weeks which is considered as normal. Now again once the first cycle starts, the next few cycles become a little irregular but as long as you are following some contraceptive methods, during this period, it doesn’t matter even if your cycles are slightly irregular until 9 months, after your delivery. Depending on again what complications you had during delivery. You need to discuss with your doctor a well if your cycles don’t come for more than a year after delivery.
