This is amazing. I bake at home from time to time. The last time I make vanilla cake, it was pretty dry after I done assembling them. Now I know how to keep my cakes stay soft. Thank you so much for this.

Thank you so much. I have searched for a long time to find these recipes. I make a punch using both almond and vanilla simple syrup, then add it to punch bowl 3/4 full of gingerale. You can add as much of the syrups to your taste. I had the syrup for years and lost them. I so appreciate you posting your recipes for this. Thank you. linda from texas
Thank you for this I never thought to put flavoring in the simple syrup! when is the best time to add the simple syrup while it's still frozen or right before you put the butter cream on?
I find that the ideal time to pour on the simple syrup is about 5 minutes before layering on the buttercream; although some people do right before. This gives the syrup time to soak in. I never work with completely frozen cake. I always thaw the cake at room temperature before prepping, adding syrup and decorating. Thanks for watching! 😉
Hi, thank you for this tutorial! I have a question, does the syrup add too much extra sweetness to the cake? Should I reduce the amount of sugar I add to the cake a little if I'm going to be moistening it with the syrup?
Great question! In my experience, this simple syrup doesn’t add much sweetness. The water balances out the sugar. You may want to experiment and make some first. Come back and let us know what you think!
I usually freeze for a week because it works better for my schedule. I add simple syrup once the cakes are thawed, before layering/decorating. Thanks for watching!
This is great! I do have a question. If I’m going to be freezing the cake for another day, should I put the simple syrup on it before the freezer or after the freezer?
I’m so afraid to try this but I’ll try it soon. So can simple syrup he used for any kind of cake? Also, how long does this syrup last in the bottles, do you keep at room temperature or refrigerate?Thank you 😊
*Yes, simple syrup is for all cake, especially "sponge"-style cake!* I store my syrup in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks. I always let it come to room temperature before applying to my cake layers though. Let me know what you think after giving it a try!
Hello! May I know how much instant coffee I should use if I want to make a coffee/espresso simple syrup? Thank you in advance! And also, I was wondering if a 1:1 ratio of water to sugar will make the cake too sweet? I've seen some people do a 10:1 ratio....what do you think about that? Please help me out! 😅 Thank you so much in advance! 🙆
Sugar to water ratio of 1:1 has worked well for me, but feel free to experiment and see what you think. I would start with about a 1/2 tablespoon of instant coffee. It can be a little intense, so start with a small amount and gradually add more to your taste. Thanks for watching! 💕
I would recommend chocolate! Red velvet cake already contains some cocoa powder, so chocolate simple syrup would enhance the flavor. Thanks for watching!
The way that I poured the syrup on was correct, but the red cross is a reminder NOT to pour too much syrup onto the cake layers. Great question; as I’m sure others will wonder the same. Thanks for watching! 💕
Are you saying that your buttercream frosting/icing soaked into your chocolate cake even though you added the syrup to it? Are you using whipped cream as a filling?
@@laibabaig3384 It sounds like your whipped icing/frosting is too thin. Trying thickening it up or using chocolate ganache as a filling instead. Hope this helps; thanks for watching!
Great question! You could use it on almond cake or try a bit on vanilla cake to give it a unique taste. Some people think that almond flavoring tastes/smells like cherries! Weird, huh? Thanks for watching!
I haven’t notice any significant addition sweetness when I apply simple syrup to my cake layers; only additional moisture. Try making a small cake without modifying the amount of sugar and add some syrup to it. Come back and let me know what you think!

After the freezer...You’ll want your cake to be thawed so that it can quickly soak up all the syrupy goodness. Thanks for watching! 💕
