Just got my ass kicked in pulaski all weekend on the bead set up..finally had my first one on. Will be investing in the bright worms for the box, next trip.
Very good info! I generally go through the same steps but water temperature plays a big part in what I use with high water. Cold high water for me I like less action high visual baits like big marabou jigs, big spawn bags and swedish pimples. Warm water i like the spinners, hot'n tots and flat fish but Ive always hooked up with spawn or wax worms no matter what the conditions are! I prefer float fishing but still figuring out the addicted worms no luck yet but Im sure I will soon
One year ago I did't know anything about catching salmon and steelhead. You guys have given me the confidence to go out and catch some fish and not look like a total idiot lol. Even when I don't catch anything, just being out on the water is a big stress reliever. Thank you. 🙏🏾🇵🇷
Jordan, that was great teaching! I actually knew all that info., but your instruction was so good that I listened to hear your teaching style. Teachers, parents, instructors could learn from that. Good stuff.
Awesome video of helpful tips. Love how Jordan just kept pulling things out of every pocket 😂. I like the tip just open the box. My eye went straight to that orange worm.
Thanks for the tips. I went out couple weekends ago for steelhead and the conditions weren't very great. I actually did exactly what you guys advised on this video but feels good to hear it from someone else.
Have fished several blown out rivers in my time, because when you have a limited time on the river, you fish what you get. Managed a few fish, just have to adjust and think small water in a big river.
I love bobber fishing. But if its so high I just cant. I go with side drifting yarnies. Make them bigger darker like cerise with white or orange with contrast to make them stand out. And a big yarnie will hold scent for like a hour. U can even pliunk them
@@shaunlehman664 hahaha thanks dude!!!! Honestly I'm pretty versed in other local species that's why I'm kind of trying my luck at this new challenge:))
Thanks for the bank fishing tutorials guys. That is the kind of fishing I can do for now, but these teachings sure give me more confidence out there :)
Don't overlook black or other dark colors for muddy water. When I am fishing with a friend I always use a contrasting to color. If they use bright orange I will use black or dark purple. If they use black I will use something bright.
I am not really sure if anyone else does this but in stead of fishing a double bead rig like I would in clearer water, I fish a double rig with bigger baits. A pink worm with a yarnie dropper or a double yarnie rig. A yarnie with a bait dropper etc. I've had a ton of success this way.
That pro cure bait scent tip has been a huge help putting me on salmon and fishing in general when others aren't. Love your tips but let's see some pro cure adds!! 😉
Good info here, I definitely don't care for fishing high water from the bank. I will when its the Only choice. And kinda looks like that will be the way it is for us in southern oregon for awhile. I might try drifting worms over next couple days.
Why dont you guys come take my kid, 21 fishing. We are right on the Clackamas, and we have a nice sled .take him out and teach how to drive that thing ! Then he drive , and you can fish
the top water column is the fastest the lowest column is the slowest. if you use a bobber it will drag your presentation off the bottom I'm curious if you use a tight lining method getting your jig in the lower column with mono which sinks better and gives you more contact with the strike
One thing that should be mentioned for people new to steelhead fishing, read the regs and definitions. Dont know about Washington, but in Oregon rubber molded imitations of eggs and worms are considered bait and cannot be fished on rivers where bait is not allowed.
One thing I haven't seen y'all cover is yarnies, atomics and glowbugs. Do you guys not use them? Seems like there are way more colors one can make with yarn then you can find in beads. Especially when one gets into tying atomics and starts layering colors to make new colors. Plus there are no size restrictions as you can tie a glo bug as big as you want.
'' to bad there's no human raised fish in my river. After all its just like a stock pond, not A LEGENDARY home for steelhead of thousands of years''... Hatchery fish in such a place is always sad. Who knows, all that science that keep saying hatcheries hurt populations might be right.. If not you can start hatcheries again or fish a stocked pond
Scouted some coastal river today, lots of water. Seen one guide boat with a client Backing plugs down the river. We had to chuckle, the guide looked like a cartoon character with the sticks going mach speed trying to hold the boat. They must of really wanted to fish today!
That water would be considered "clear", "high-viz", and very fishable for any of the great lakes tribs in Western NY...I'd probably be using subtle presentations and 4 lb fluoro in Lake Erie tribs if they looked as clear as that river in the background of the video! Great tips though guys... ;-)
@@shaunlehman9158 Iowa? I did not think Iowa has big fat cedar trees, this looks more west coast , Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, or as the guy said the Cowichan on vancouver island, lol that was my high school party river in the late 70s

What kind of tricks do you use in high dirty water?! 🤷♂️
Just got my ass kicked in pulaski all weekend on the bead set up..finally had my first one on. Will be investing in the bright worms for the box, next trip.

Huge gob of roe 5 feet off shore.

You guys do some of the absolute best steelhead vids. Thanks for all the great videos
That water does not look that bad at all. Maybe a little high but clarity is not bad at all. Not dirty.
Jeff Small 2-3’ of visibility is perfect imo.... fish aren’t spooked
Jeff Small The water had less than 12” of vis this day. Which on this river, is terrible. Normally it’s running with waaaaaay more clarity.
Thank you for the advice. Landed a huge steelhead fishing how you told me to. Appreciate it thanks for the good content
Aye finally a steelhead video 😂
Hey Marlin share the floats bro! Thanks for the schooling today guys.
do you have a video on recommendations for main lines, mono vs braid, benefits of both, and advantages in freezing temps vs above freezing?
I like Jordan because he doesn’t beg for comments and to keep watching.

Could you please tell me what kind/ brand net that you use. I’m having trouble finding one. Thank you !
Man I wish I could have the water there fishing in right now. Here on the lower mad river its super muddy most of the winter
I’ve found close bank on any day except high sunny days even lakes see big fish cruising the shore line where the smaller smolts hang out
Ik caught a 20lb coho on the Applegate river yesterday

What would you think about putting red worm tail trailers on a weighted jig head and just dredge and lift

Wow, that is rediculous!
If they dont want people fishing, they should just say so
I’ve never heard this before interesting
@@shaunlehman664 it's in the regs. Page 14 of the Oregon regs under definitions. Read the definition for bait.
You call that dirty water? That’s practically gin clear compared to the puyallup!
Love to see fishing with the boss man
High dirty water i like to run a worm or jig then 12 in down a dropper bead (if allowed) tipped with shrimp
In a high muddy water situation. Do you guys prefer the full 6 inch addicted worm or would you still snip them down to 4 inches?
Up here in British Columbia Canada on a bait ban river we are not aloud to use scent . How can you be able to use it ?
I have a shelf here at the bank. I’m literally fishing 1-3 feet from the bank.
Muddy river, dark colors! The bullship!
What kind of knot do you guys tie on your jigs?
Sandy or clackamas? I use a large sand shrimp to “search” the water for hits then figure out where they are and scale back
matanuska high neither lol
I would use an orange beed or or a chartreuse spinner and get it down deeper

Talk about complicating something simple. Dirty water bright colors, super clear water softer or darker colors
