This resonates with me a lot. I recently moved into a suburban neighborhood next to a middle school and I've gotten a lot of people come to my house. It's usually 13 year old kids but that doesn't really make it any better. It just makes me uncomfortable that people think it's okay to come knocking on my door while I'm just trying to relax in my house. But I got a security camera which makes me feel better :)
MattShea MattShea! I love your vids! I am deep in the comments, it’s funny that I found you. I can’t believe no one else has seen this comment lol. But it’s true people need to understand how stupid and disrespectful it is to go to someone’s house uninvited, especially if you are a stranger. Our bus goes by boogies house sometimes so we always talk about how cool it is but we would never go to his house.
Yeah I Can't Imagine How Scary/Uncomfortable That would be. Even if it's just kids. I've delt with Stalkers/Creepers before (no one from Internet) but it's scary and having that be a regular thing I don't know how I'd handle that. 💜💜💜
MattShea ditto, I live kiddie corner to a middle school and a bus stop, lots of kids everywhere and a couple of times I've had stuff outside on my porch vandalized. Ughhhh, my first apartment and I'm kind of considered for Halloween, I'm not going to be home and I don't want to have to lock up my stuff and put things inside 😐.
yall are some gremlins, its beter if u just admit that your anti social and secretly hate all the realtionships you made and you would rather spend your time alone at the tv unless your feeling needy and then need that other person to recognize your worth and give there time to puffing up your ahead.
Don't apologise for thinking that someone who comes to your house uninvited to meet you looks crazy and scary. People shouldn't do that in the first place.
+Carlos Dyonisio, Yeah but here's the thing though, sometimes those people we call crazy, are just people who happen to be Autistic (half of the time that is), an the majority of Autistic people pose no threat, I have a similar story to Boogie (obviously not as scary) but I did meet a friend of a friend as I was coming out of a Supermarket (quite late at night) who had been following all my posts on Facebook's (before I made them private) and he scared the shit out of me, and he was asking me about very specific things that I had said on Facebook (as they related to people who knew). I later found out (through friends) that he has Autism, and because it's so hard for him to communicate, he will go from one Facebook page to another trying to find friends (and as it turned out at one point he had tried to add me, but I probably didn't accept his request as I wouldn't have known him at that point). Yes I was in Public, Yes he was a friend of a friend, but I could of called him crazy, I could have knocked him flat on his backside, but all he wanted to do was make a friend, in no way did he get a pass for being Autistic, as I was very assertive with him and explained why I was uncomfortable, and I have a good idea that the guy at Boogie's door was Autistic too. So we shouldn't be so quick to judge people.
Yeah, there is no one, especialy a stranger, that like someone just showing up. I can picture that with my very close friends, back a little after high school just showing up. But when you are with your wife like boogie. Dont just show up to his family home. Some people have no boundries.
NO! I'm mad because I've spent so much time watching him that I know we'd be best friends. I can't count the number of times I've sat in my unmarked a-team-but-creepy van, across the street, just taking pictures of him sleeping through his windows with a telephoto lens. How many times I've walked up to his door at 3am, put my hand on the knob, then lost confidence and ran away. Then he puts this video up. I'm gutted. Clearly he doesn't know how to treat his real fans.
We had adults show up at our house. . adults. . who should know better. They just randomly showed up and wanted to meet us and said they were originally from our area and knew the neighborhood and all this. It was just very uncomfortable. I felt like I couldn't even focus on what they were talking about because I was so uncomfortable. And like you said, I love meeting our audience! But there is a time and a place. People just have to have respect.
That's so awkward and disturbing! Nobody wants random people showing up to their house, it makes you feel uneasy and unsafe, even if they are well-meaning.
Maybe because I’m a UA-camr I understand and respect other UA-camrs privacy but I honestly can’t understand why people get so creepy with trying to meet UA-camrs.. they’re just people, awesome people but still just people :)
emosh73: Jess and Jamie have been around for a very long time. They had what was considered a lot of subscribers back in the day, so they are still very well known. It only takes one idiot out of 474k.
"A few folks were upset because I said I didn't want people coming to my home." These people are called dummies, and you don't owe them an explanation.
well, wouldn't it be better to adress and hopefully teach these 'dummies'? I suspect that some people who show up to houses unexpected do know it's not really a nice thing to do, but for the portion who don't know that, this video might be the thing that turns them around
No! No one should be turning up at Boogie's or any other youtubers house. You're just invading/disrespecting their privacy, turning up to their house uninvited. Also to those people having a go at Boogie. How would you like it if you had random people that you don't even know, just turning up at your house uninvited?
If I were a big UA-camr, I wouldn't mind fans showing up to my home; however, I do completely understand why most UA-camrs don't want that taking place.
I don't even like people randomly sending me friend requests on facebook let alone showing up at my house. I can understand how people like Boogie would feel. They have to worry about stalking and psycho people more than your average schlub. It's a massive invasion of privacy and if every fan did that they would never get any work done either.
Fuck. Terrifying man. I had a young woman come up to me a Gen Con (I'm a small time youtuber for Dungeons and Dragons content), and she was shaking. It was weird. She was very pleasant, but to me, it seemed weird like, I'm just a guy what's the big deal. And after all I could think was wow, If I AM GETTING reactions like this, what the hell do actual big youtubers get?!?! Hell, what does LeBron or Britney Spears go through?!?! Hearing this story from Boogie, I totally believe this.
She was probably just a nerd who made a big effort to go to the Con to meet some people she liked but struggles with anxiety. A friend im fond of cries on her way to work most days because the thought of seeing her coworkers is scary. I wish you both well whatever you are doing though :)
Dude telling people to stay the hell away from your house doesn't make you a jerk. I don't even want my immediate family members to show up to my place unannounced, let alone somebody who I didn't even know existed prior to them knocking on my door. If anything your mild-mannered and respectful request to people who are trespassing is indicative of how much you are NOT a jerk. Stay safe man, UA-cam needs you.
No and no. Showing up on someone's doorstep unannounced and uninvited is not only impolite and creepy, but also dangerous. A private residence is just that - private - and someone's privacy should be respected by everyone.
Seriously, this is why I subscribed. Just an incredibly decent human being with a heart of gold. Congrats on the success since the surgery @boogie2988! So happy for you and your family, sir!
A person's home is their sanctuary. People need to respect that. Its awesome that Boogie is willing to meet people outside of the home in his community, but people need to understand that Boogie is a "Celebrity" and people get awe struck when they find out where he lives and thinks that it is ok to just come and meet him. People react this way often to most UA-camrs they really like. But it is completely the WRONG thing to do. Respect a person's privacy and don't just show up at their front door. At the very least, you need to get their permission. But your best chance of meeting your favorite UA-camr will most likely be at a convention. NEVER ruin your chances by just showing up at their home. They may never want anything to do with you again. lol
I can't believe this is something boogie needs to explain....i know boogie has mental issues, but hes not crazy, you've gotta be crazy to show up at someones house expecting to meet them when they don't know you.
Unfortunately, in this current era of YT with certain youtubers having fans waiting and causing a fuss in their neighbourhood (no names) makes it seem like it is ok.
This seems like common sense not to violate someone's privacy. Side note you are a far better human than most as I think most people wouldn't respond in that manner. Love what you do much respect.
It's crazy that he even had to explain why. It should be obvious why UA-camrs don't want random people showing up to their homes uninvited. Just because your a fan of that UA-camr dosen't give you right to go to their house uninvited. Put yourself in their shoes, would you want strangers randomly showing up at your house uninvited?
I can't believe you got shit for saying "don't come to my house". Where are peoples priorities at. When they're on their downtime would they want random people dropping by while they're in their sweats eating cereal out of the box? Would they wanna spend all their down-time providing entertainment to uninvited strangers? I don't Fucking think so.
Rosie J younger children just dont know better, for an adult to do this shows extreme loneliness and isolation from the outside world to not grasp basic social tenets. Either that or a serious sociopathic mindset, which is likely the cause of the former.
@Personally I think Long names are annoying and Google+ should get rid of that feature Pretty sure Matthew Peraica knows it's not ok - he was simply explaining how some ppl feel, and have that sense of entitlement.
While he doesn't there's more dumbasses than there are decent folk so boogie is kind of forced to give an explanation UA-camrs are quasi celebrities at this point so they have the same problems as tv celebrities which is why tv celebrities hire private security they know they are no longer average everyday people
"WHAT'S UP...Ladies and Gentlemen Of UA-cam? Boogie 2988 coming at you live through the power of the internet. Should You Come To My House? HELL NO! So guys, as always I love you very much...and I'll speak with you soon."
Itsjustjord Twitter sized attention span eh? Tl;dr / tl;dw is for the lazy IMHO...honestly can’t even be bothered to properly spell out too long, don’t watch yet bothered to post that waste of space acronym, cause you have the memory span of a gold fish... ) it comes across unintelligent and makes you look like a troll instigator .
It's an unwritten contract we sign together when we click on a video and you upload one. I shouldn't invade your personal space especially if it involves your family. If I see you at an event or even in public then it's different (of course if a youtuber is with their family in public be respectful), but going to a youtubers house is creepy and wrong.
You are one of the most genuine and honest creators out there and you could not be a jerk if you try. You are so open, empathetic, and you seem very thoughtful. I am a big fan of your content even though I am not super into games. That said, I cannot understand the compulsion to track down someone's home and to just show up and demand their time and invade their private space. That story is terrifying! While you are pretty open about your past and parts of your life (which is incredibly helpful to your viewers who are fighting similar battles) the idea that someone just decides that you must be their friend and that it is okay to cross those lines- just wow! Take care and I hope you are healing well from your surgery.
Its just a lot of people who don't understand social boundaries. They are lonely and view youtubers as their friends, so they visit thinking there is nothing wrong.
Dude!!! I don't even like people I know showing up at my door without notice. I couldn't imagine someone I don't know just rockin up, thinking we could be bffs, just because they'd seen my videos & heard my story. It's unfair of anyone to think that's cool at any time. I think you're so articulate & handle these things so well Boogie, if anyone thinks you're being precious, they're being obscenely unrealistic, about the fear that would arise for anyone put in that situation. It's just not natural. You're always mega fair & very respectful with your delivery, so anyone that's uncool with this video, take a step back, it's UNCOOL! Looking good Boogie, that face of yours is getting tinier all the time xox
You weren't and aren't wrong at all. I was part of an unrelated group (theater - live cast) out here in Az. I personally was recognized out in public on several occasions. Which, like you, in public was not a problem. One particular night however, a group of teenagers that had been kicked out (for one reason or another) had followed me home around 2-3am. They threatened me and surrounded me until i called the cast producer to let them back in. Though nothing came of it as far as court or restraining orders it was very traumatic to say the least. Also the reason i never leave home without my .45 and have more than one firearm in my house. It took me almost 2 years to get over not feeling anxious or apprehensive about opening my door to anyone. It's NEVER cool to show up like that.
lol good idea. But, in all seriousness - when there's 1 of you and 10+ of them (guessing) between 17-21. You just don't know what their intentions are or what weapons they may or may not have.
Am I the only one trying to search the comment section for someone who actually think they should just walk up to someone's home? This is rediculous that people don't understand privacy!!
Zachary Carroll No, I've been searching for 10 minutes. Happy to report I've found none. Someone could get shot turning up at people's doors and acting manic. Edit: I found one. He thinks that if Steven "puts himself out there in the public's eye" then "it should not come as a surprise" and "should be expected". Fuck me, dude sounds like he's a little unhinged.
There's a few that's been posted. Look for In a comment chain that was started by Gone to the Snow Dogs, there were a few stating the following; Not gonna name names. If you stumble upon it. You'll see it! I'll give you some here. Lots of text below: "Heaven forbid someone wanting to meet a person they enjoy watching. Poor little special snowflake got scared and uncomfortable cause their little bubble was breached. This whole comment section is full of oversensitive babies." "Here let me introduce you to fame. Fame has an issue where fans of fame will show up to their house..... In other words Boogie is famous, and with fame comes fans some even stalker fans, but that's all part of it.... Sad but that's the way it is, and famous people should not complain about it, they're so privileged to be where they are in life they should just mellow out a bit, cough cough Boogie2988. Get a gate and a no trespassing sign with some security cameras and you'll be good." "If you can't handle fame, then you shouldn't be putting yourself in public eye. Be private if you want privacy... Shouldn't be surprised that this sort of thing would happen. In fact, it should be expected! Exposing yourself and opening up personally to the world, what do you think would happen? Then you are shocked when random people try to meet you. Cmon it's like sticking your finger in an outlet then ranting about being shocked... Don't be stupid." "Shut up you ignorant fool. No one's hunting Boogie down. Yes it's all part of fame having people come up to you, and yes its all part of fame having people come to your house. That's fame buddy but obviously you're too naive to understand that. Stop putting words in my mouth that I didn't say asshole. If you can't handle fame and fans don't put your life on the Internet uh doi"
You're not the only one. Looking myself, and one of your responders found one, with a totally assinine response. Celebs have to expect this... If I remember correctly that was John Lennons, murders attitude. I rest my case.
I completely agree with you, I've actually talked about this on my channel before. It's not okay, a house is a very private thing. And the world we live in is so dangerous we have to be careful.
I can't believe you HAVE to tell some people the concept of private life... It's like when a stranger is starting to follow a woman down the street trying to "talk to her" and she's not responsive and he's like "what's your problem bitch? I'm being nice to you!" Don't you realize you're being fucking scary? I don't know you and you're FOLLOWING me down the street while i'm alone... Come on people! You got a head, use it!
Uhhhhh he said people have showed up before. Its obvious why he felt the need. Obviously people dont get it. Maby you cant belive that people would show up at his door tho :p
Man, nobody loves when people just show up to their house randomly. UA-camr or otherwise. Hell, I even have a problem with some of my personal friends doing so, sometimes. I think your stance on the situation is pretty normal, and quite respectable.
This definitely isn't just UA-camrs, I can't stand people randomly popping in unannounced. Your situation sounds a lot scarier than anything I've experienced, but I've had ex's break into my house and just watch me sleep. I didn't feel threatened by it, just creeped out.
Charlie Keane Women break into my house choke me with a phone cord, then get scared away by some sparks emmited from the phone cord, before leaving asking me to hail satan
People don't even like when the the cable guy has to come over. So it amazing to think that a random visit from a stranger who has no need to be there is ok. As for me I'll just assume you read my comments. That's good enough.
Pathetic that people are actually disliking this video. "I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO TO ANY UA-camRS HOUSE I WANT BECAUSE IM AN ENTITLED PRICK WAAHHHH!" No perspective.
Should you go to a UA-camr's house? Short answer: No. Long answer: Fuck the hell no, let them have their space. How do so many people not understand the concept of privacy?
Hard to understand something if you've never had it. There is a whole generation now that has never really experienced real 'privacy'. Everyone and everything is up in your daily life now, they simply don't know what it felt like to have some real privacy in life.
That, or maybe, because they spend so much times watching youtuber's content, they start thinking they're somehow "available", if you see what I mean. UA-camrs are generally entertaining and cool on screen, so they imagine they'd be the exact same in real life. It's a fucking stupid way of reasoning of course, since it implies that they think very little of the youtuber's personnality, but I can totally see this as a legit reason why they'd disregard their privacy...
This is 1 of those things that I can't believe has to be explained. Who the hell would ever think it's cool to just stroll up to your door and be like "Sup?"
Yes, I think it all falls into the category of the decline of common decency and the rise of people feeling entitled. Anyone who has been on the internet long enough to remember the beginning of "Eternal September" will remember when the death of decency and common sense on the internet began, and we feel even worse as we know how the internet was before it started. For those to young to remember it, or simply that weren't into computers long enough to have known about it, it used to be that most used first got on the internet when they went to college, so each Sept as a new freshman class came in there would be an influx of new users on the internet, but they were greatly outnumbered by established user, so for the first few weeks things would become a bit hectic and uncivilized (although nothing like today) as the new users got their first taste of the "anonymity of the internet" but the established users would instruct the new people in basic net etiquette, get them in line and things would settle down as they assimilated into the community, and anything could be discussed in a civil and respectful manner, be it politics, religion or anything else. Sure there were dark areas, and some chat rooms were full or rude and obnoxious people, but they were mostly kept to isolated pockets, and if they strayed out into the more polite areas there were often ways skilled users could sort of spank them (let's just say that software was far less secured back then, so if someone came into a civil channel with the idea of causing trouble there were ways they could be dealt with.) Then in 93 AOL started offering internet access, so where it used to be that to be on the net you really had to have some computer hardware/software knowledge, suddenly anyone could get on the internet by clicking a single button, and the massive influx of people overwhelmed those trying to keep the peace, and while it's become a wonderful tool, it's also become the current shit show that it is. God I miss the pre-1993 internet, sure there have been massive improvements and it's far more advanced then even we could have imaged, but sometimes I think I would be willing to give all that up to return to the time when things were civil and you could have rational discussions with people with opposing views.
Interesting thing, I saw awhile back ago that our brain reacts the same to television characters we see frequently as it does to our actual friends. So while we know the difference between our good friend from high school and the fictional guy on TV, our brains do not. At least not the deeper parts out of our control. So I guess it would make sense for some people to have a harder time with that line. They see your videos a lot, their brain already sees you as a friend, and you're a real person. I could randomly show up at the door of the best man in my wedding, and I know I'd be greeted with a huge smile and a hug, and probably a beer. So perhaps some people, not quite realizing that you aren't at that same point, might expect the same thing. Doesn't make it less worrisome, I'm sure. Good on you for talking about this, probably an odd subject to have to tackle, but if no one tells them it's not OK, what's to stop them? Everyone needs privacy. I hope no one else shows up uninvited.
NidgeDFX Pretty sure he is just saying that to scare potential freaks that come to his house. Why would he have a roommate? That would get annoying when your having anxiety attacks every night and you never leave the house. Plus he said they had no food at the house while getting ready for surgery so did this roommate fast as well??
Boogie, I just had to comment that even from the thumbnail, and then from the video, can already see good progress just in your face alone. Keep it up man. We’re all cheering for you.
I think it's a sign of the times. First, all this information (like how to find someone) is now available at your fingertips online. And second, by watching youtube videos (or movies, tv gossip news, etc, it applies everywhere) a person can begin to develop a connection and rapport with someone that doesn't really exist. So they go into meeting boogie or with a higher level of presumed familiarity, while to boogie its (rightfully) a random stranger off the street that has shown up at his house. You don't need to have anxiety issues to get concerned when random strangers start showing up at your house. If he's getting death threats, well maybe he should look at better security. It sucks to have to do, but that's one of the downsides of being a celebrity, you attract the attention of people both good and bad.
That story about that random person turning up at your door put chills down my spine, I agree you shouldn't just turn up at someones house especially if you dont actually know them
Matthew W I'm pretty sure everyone does within reason. If people are going to people's houses as fans probably not meaning anything malicious by it, people's houses are so private, you don't know who anyone's circumstances are, they could be going through a break up/ divorce, going through a death, there are such a lot of events nowadays that people can go see them. If you are referring to people who are hugely disrespectful to you or your family then no, they don't deserve respect or the anger/upset it causes you either.
I don't want family coming to my house 95% of the time no less a stranger who may or may not be a freaking nut. Everybody deserves to have a spot where they do not have to worry about doing anything but relaxing and should be left alone unless they want company.
The answer is always no. Coming to someone's house un-invited is a good way to get shot. Edit - Wen it's a ytuber's house and you try to harass them (by hanging around their home or peeping into their windows) they could get you arrested .
Matthew W No, you're protecting your property. If someone comes to your house without excplicit permission and you tell them to leave and they don't, you have a right to defend your property. Better to be a murderer who defended their property and family than an obsessive sociopath.
If someone comes to my property uninvited, I have the right to shoot them in the back as they walk away. That's what's great about the south. I have been saying these UA-camrs need to arm their selves.
So someone random comes up your house, to loan the bathroom, or maybe has a flat tire, needs to use a phone or maybe just need aid in an emergency. So you are gonna shoot them in the back, instead of manning up, using your supposedly god given manly balls, walking out and asking people in a nice calm fashion what they want. Are you literally insane? or just dumb. This is the worst fucking shit ive read in a long time. I sure hope you are some 13 year old trying to act tough, if you are a god to honest adult with that psychotic attitude then damn.
I don't know if I speak for everyone else in the comments, but I definitely think you were in the right. If a stranger comes to your house you have every reason to be a bit nervous.
People need to remember that, from Boogie's perception, most of his audience are strangers. He doesn't know us as much as we know him, and that's understandable because his audience consists of millions of people. I hate when people show up uninvited at my house, like those Jehova Witness guys trying to sell me their religion or even family members who don't call ahead of time. Not wanting his privacy to be invaded doesn't make Boogie a jerk, and if you don't understand that, maybe you are the jerk.
Ellie and Jared, a few months back, had a security breach and people showed up to their home. Scary as adults but they have tiny little boys living there. You would think that people would know boundaries and have respect for them. I don't show up to people's houses that I am friends with. I lived with parents who were hoarders for most of my teen and college years. You never know what's behind closed doors and I would have "died" if someone showed up unannounced to my door. I would never want to put someone else in that position. I completely understand why you don't want viewers coming to your home. You show what you want people to see otherwise the rest of your life is private. (On a side note - I actually just started watching you since you started making gastric bypass videos and I have mentioned in other comments I've made that I'm 3 years out from RNY. I am proud of your progress! Keep it up!)
I feel that we tend to break those barriers we have with rock stars and movie stars compared to a well known media person. Because rock stars and movie stars are not talking directly to us on a daily base, especially on streams were streamers even respond back to us. You don't get that same experience at a concert while the singer is performing. lol So we get the feeling as a viewer that we are already friends, even though that popular streamer may not know us, we tend to forget that because we feel we know them and we don't feel as distant. One popular gamer channel reminds me of the Invite thing to his house, even if I was aware some stranger was coming .. called the gaming house. I don't care how much money I can make.. the hell with that. If i had the money to do so , I would have a separate house for that and not my personal Place.. So I am with ya there Boogie
Christina Aguilar granted. I actually am drawn into his neighborhood often because of my part time job. I totally plan on driving by and checking out the decorations, but I sure as heck would not go knocking on his door or purposely stop. I wouldn't be hanging out by his house taking pictures. That would be creepy. I've only got 34 subscribers. I wonder if I started getting more at what point do I need to start looking out the window before leaving my apartment? I feel for boogie!
anyone who goes to someones place like that theres something wrong with their heads, i really dont want to meet those crazies...the thing is they think theres nothing wrong with it....that makes it worse!
Okay, I'm not even going to watch the video. Here is the answer: Unless invited over to someone's house by the person who owns/pays the rent there, you do not go to their house, does not matter if it is someone on the internet or in your neighborhood. You do not show up uninvited!
I had another UA-camr that I had a very public argument with leak my address. Thankfully nothing ever came of it. But that sucks people just randomly show up at your house.
Don't see why people would have an issue with this; I don't even like it when people I know (including family) show up with out telling me first. It's not that i have anything bad to hide, it's just that the living room might be messy, I might be in PJs, maybe trying to get work done on a tight schedule, or maybe just need to rest, ...
In summer I like to walk around naked in my house. I mean, my pets do, so why can't I? So if you don't want to be offended by my six-pack abs and huge pecs, my foot-long penis, and my lies, don't visit unannounced.
Can you make a video describing your rise to UA-cam success? Beginning struggles? When did you see the ball start to roll? Did you go through different types of content before finding your niche? I think there are a lot of up and comers that would benefit from this info including myself. The Struggle is real brother.
I think what people don't really understand is that while most youtubers don't ever get that big, the ones that do have celebrity status. Think of the security measures that hollywood celebs have to go through but youtubers aren't making that kind of money. UA-cam celebrities are unfortunately much more vulnerable to psychopathic stalkers.
Yes I believe he does have to explain it. It's not something that's taught so well anymore and usually people just aren't thinking when they do this. On top of that people who are taught common decency sometimes get a wild hair up their ass and common sense disappears like a fart in the wind.
this is something that shouldn't even be remotely controversial. The fact that even ONE person thought/thinks that it's ok to go onto someone's private property is mind blowing to me
Stuart Macleod precicely because he did know it seems likely it was just something someone said they did in order to scare him because why waste that money and risk prison just to warn them ahead of time also how else could he know?
Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to show up to someones house?????? There's a reason boogie goes to conventions and places to meet us! Don't show up to his house. I wouldn't even want to interrupt his average day going to walmart or something.
Sociopaths. "Memememememememe" "You're a UA-camr, You're famous. I get to because you're Famous, Hire body guards if you dont like it, you became famous so you don't have the right to privacy. Your life = our life." sort of people.
Children who have too much time on their hands and parents who don't know any better that will take them there. Matthias and Amanda have had to address it (and she was even pregnant at the time). JackSepticEye has had it happen. It is quite often kids who have figured out how to triangulate locations or figure it out based on photos, and parents either are clueless and think it is normal or are the sort that give their kids anything they want. There are some just straight up adult sociopath types that do it too. But from most the videos I've seen of youtubers addressing this, it is most often kids whose parents haven't properly taught them boundaries because these parents probably don't understand themselves. This is the same people who end up stalking celebs and are on the fanatical side of being a fan.
Yeah it's a crazy thought but some people just don't process reality correctly. UA-cam and podcasts often come across in a conversational tone. To those who are "a little off" they get the impression that they really know the UA-camr personally, and to some degree that's true, but you can't lose sight of the fact that while you might know them, THEY DON'T KNOW YOU. No matter how much they might feel like a friend, you're still a stranger to them. That's not to say that they dislike you, but you cannot expect someone to just welcome a stranger showing up at their home. Respect their privacy and engage with them in the ways that they have setup: comments on videos, in chats, or at conventions.
Unfortunately, not everybody grew up with those norms. Some people are just naturally socially oblivious, some people might have had difficult upbringings and never learned these sorts of things. Sometimes, it's because somebody emigrated from a culture where it's just a perfectly normal thing to show up at someone's door. My point is, feel free to be a little freaked out if something like that happens to you, but it's probably better to try to diffuse a situation involving someone you know absolutely nothing about, because it might not be common sense to them. And unlike what many of the commenters here seem to believe, I don't think that it's worth shooting someone in the face over this.
Hmm, sounds about right if you think about the typical bell curve of opinion, the proportion of those who by definition have personality types one would normally wish to avoid. More worrying is that so many would be subscribers of Boogie.
Sadly many people are very entitled, and in this case they feel that watching Boogie entitles them to walk into Boogies house and that he should entertain them. It's just insane!

Simple answer, no. Its called private property for a reason.
u said it
Yes
abolish private property!
MattShea I love you man!
Why are 13 year-olds knocking on your door?
MattShea ditto, I live kiddie corner to a middle school and a bus stop, lots of kids everywhere and a couple of times I've had stuff outside on my porch vandalized. Ughhhh, my first apartment and I'm kind of considered for Halloween, I'm not going to be home and I don't want to have to lock up my stuff and put things inside 😐.
I don't even like people I KNOW knocking on my door unexpectedly.
I'm the same lol
Same here. If you didn't call first, I'm probably not gonna even come to the door.
Joshua Margalus agreed, i hate when friends walk up to my door like "you wanna hang out?" and i cant say no
yall are some gremlins, its beter if u just admit that your anti social and secretly hate all the realtionships you made and you would rather spend your time alone at the tv unless your feeling needy and then need that other person to recognize your worth and give there time to puffing up your ahead.
Damn Soulsreaper, who hurt you? Did you show up to your favorite UA-camrs house and they got mad? It's okay, bb
Don't apologise for thinking that someone who comes to your house uninvited to meet you looks crazy and scary. People shouldn't do that in the first place.
Carlos Dyonisio It fucking is crazy and scary
It is crazy and scary. But first and foremost, it's rude and disrespectful. Definitely a bad idea to show up at anyone's house uninvited.
+Carlos Dyonisio,
Yeah but here's the thing though, sometimes those people we call crazy, are just people who happen to be Autistic (half of the time that is), an the majority of Autistic people pose no threat,
I have a similar story to Boogie (obviously not as scary) but I did meet a friend of a friend as I was coming out of a Supermarket (quite late at night) who had been following all my posts on Facebook's (before I made them private) and he scared the shit out of me, and he was asking me about very specific things that I had said on Facebook (as they related to people who knew).
Blue Glass Productions even if nobody else says it, I'm glad you did what you did.
Carlos Dyonisio
Agreed
UA-camr or not it is rude to show up unsolicited to someone’s home. Can’t believe people were offended by that!
Did you see any of the comments. I'm curious about what these assholes were saying. It's baffling that they were mad.
Stop It get some help
We should go for a bicycle ride together sometime Hannah...
It's so crazy the lengths people go. People need to live their own lives.

Boogie2988 please try to come to Indiana comicon

We had adults show up at our house. . adults. . who should know better. They just randomly showed up and wanted to meet us and said they were originally from our area and knew the neighborhood and all this. It was just very uncomfortable. I felt like I couldn't even focus on what they were talking about because I was so uncomfortable. And like you said, I love meeting our audience! But there is a time and a place. People just have to have respect.
Gone to the Snow Dogs One of the most underrated channels on youtube. Keep up the good work. Love the vlog channel as well
That's so awkward and disturbing!
Maybe they returned to only then find out you had moved in there, because your neighbor had mentioned it? It does sound majorly uncomfortable though.
emosh73: Jess and Jamie have been around for a very long time.
Wow you used a nicer word than I would have
dummies is nice term, real term they're fucken morons or retards.
its called common sense people which lots of people don't have these days
No! No one should be turning up at Boogie's or any other youtubers house. You're just invading/disrespecting their privacy, turning up to their house uninvited. Also to those people having a go at Boogie. How would you like it if you had random people that you don't even know, just turning up at your house uninvited?
Especially someone you don't know. But wouldn't even drop in on most of my friends unannounced. That's just common decency.
should it matter if they are a youtuber? This is applicable for ANYONE you don't know.
If I were a big UA-camr, I wouldn't mind fans showing up to my home; however, I do completely understand why most UA-camrs don't want that taking place.
Relytxz HD what if your trying to do something and a random kid starts constantly knocking on your door? Would that really not annoy you?
I'm nobody and I don't like people coming to my house LOL
I hate that shit too. I hated when I used to have landlords too. Those motherfuckers never call first.
Hell, I don't even want friends or family to stop by without calling first.
Knoxville Skank, exactly! You need at least a day's notice to get the house in order. ☺️
Knoxville Skank tbh 😂😂😂
Same!!!!
fucking christ yes and the ones that get all pissy when you want to be alone can fuck right off
Me neither, sometimes im worried to open the door in case its a religious imbecile trying to convince into joining him, calling first is a good idea
Same
I hope Boogie doesn't get double cancer.
This aged well too.
They may never want anything to do with you again. lol
Basically
I can't believe this is something boogie needs to explain....i know boogie has mental issues, but hes not crazy, you've gotta be crazy to show up at someones house expecting to meet them when they don't know you.
You should just answer the door as Francis and start chucking consoles at them
The Fourth Captain 😂😂👌🏼
oh that would be hilarious!
Please throw the Nintendo switch at me I'll catch it and run away
And if you got an Xbox One X throw that and I'll catch it and run away also
The Fourth Captain hahahah then I would want to go to his house!! 😂
NO ONE SHOULD GO TO A HOUSE THEY HAVENT BEEN INVITED TO!!!!! You're a human being, not an exhibit.
Unfortunately, in this current era of YT with certain youtubers having fans waiting and causing a fuss in their neighbourhood (no names) makes it seem like it is ok.
Headache Wyldlyfe
How do you even know it's a cutie behind the screen? By looking at a profile picture? LOL
Mark Andrews true story.
LordVader1094 true
I think we all should be like vampires.
This seems like common sense not to violate someone's privacy. Side note you are a far better human than most as I think most people wouldn't respond in that manner. Love what you do much respect.
Expecting people to have common decency is where you went wrong
The Nocturnal Alchemist how was he wrong?
Bakang Holden there are plenty of people who don't think of the consequences or simply think it's ok. And it's not.
Modern Patriot ok
It's crazy that he even had to explain why. It should be obvious why UA-camrs don't want random people showing up to their homes uninvited. Just because your a fan of that UA-camr dosen't give you right to go to their house uninvited. Put yourself in their shoes, would you want strangers randomly showing up at your house uninvited?
agool 7 I think you missed the entire point of this comment, while everyone should have common decency not everyone does, so expecting it is wrong.
Rosie I love you can we eat cereal together in our PJS?
Rosie J I definitely agree with you
Rosie J younger children just dont know better, for an adult to do this shows extreme loneliness and isolation from the outside world to not grasp basic social tenets. Either that or a serious sociopathic mindset, which is likely the cause of the former.
@Personally I think Long names are annoying and Google+ should get rid of that feature
Pretty sure Matthew Peraica knows it's not ok - he was simply explaining how some ppl feel, and have that sense of entitlement.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation!
CheeryGiggles exactly
No, but some need to hear it
CheeryGiggles that's why it's ridiculous he is having to make a video about it
While he doesn't there's more dumbasses than there are decent folk so boogie is kind of forced to give an explanation UA-camrs are quasi celebrities at this point so they have the same problems as tv celebrities which is why tv celebrities hire private security they know they are no longer average everyday people
That's what conventions are for if you want to meet them.
Why doest it even have to be said. Wtf people, don't show up to people's house, you know them, but they don't know you, stay away weirdos.
There is a time and a place for meet ups. Your house is your private space. Simple.😊💛💙
How ya doin...
Hound Life Vlogs Well said!
I wonder what those stalkers would say when someone unknown to them would show up every day
Don't be mad because I game on a 55 inch 4K you must really love musical theatre
its not going stop people going to his place, people can be fucken morons
This video should be about 10seconds long:
1. Boogie intro
2. The question
3. The answer: HELL NO!
4. The outro
The people that don't already know what the answer is need the long version.
pyrocynical outro
More like the people who already know the answer need the long version, mainly to hear out Boogie's opinion and view on that matter~
"WHAT'S UP...Ladies and Gentlemen Of UA-cam? Boogie 2988 coming at you live through the power of the internet. Should You Come To My House? HELL NO! So guys, as always I love you very much...and I'll speak with you soon."

I can listen to this man for hours.
Agree. You have a private life, simple.
A man's house is his castle, it's sacred territory. I can totally relate
It's an unwritten contract we sign together when we click on a video and you upload one. I shouldn't invade your personal space especially if it involves your family. If I see you at an event or even in public then it's different (of course if a youtuber is with their family in public be respectful), but going to a youtubers house is creepy and wrong.
Shaun Carter Dude shut the fuck up that's some corny ass shit lmao gay af
He tried to warn us
You are one of the most genuine and honest creators out there and you could not be a jerk if you try.
Baffling how youtubers have to explain to people why they don't want random people going their house. What a world we live in.
Its just a lot of people who don't understand social boundaries. They are lonely and view youtubers as their friends, so they visit thinking there is nothing wrong.
Wait some people were upset with you wanting your privacy..... *rolls eyes*
Brady Pahl 🙄
Yeah they are. Fucking 2017 for ya
Brady Pahl I agree
Yeah what the fuck us wrong with people??
Brady Pahl There's nothing wrong with wanting your own privacy but fame don't get you privacy lol
GreenDay History
A .45 nice, you wanna make da big holes.
I haven't decided which is better for concealed carry.. a 45 or 9mm.. either a revolver or a 1911. But damn Colt is expensive.
I personnally have pepper spray (the one you get for bears). But you know, different countries, different habits I guess...
Bro they were Teenagers. Just threaten to hack their Xbox Live accounts
lol good idea.
Zachary Carroll
No, I've been searching for 10 minutes.
Lots of text below:
"Heaven forbid someone wanting to meet a person they enjoy watching. Poor little special snowflake got scared and uncomfortable cause their little bubble was breached. This whole comment section is full of oversensitive babies."
"Here let me introduce you to fame. Get a gate and a no trespassing sign with some security cameras and you'll be good."
"If you can't handle fame, then you shouldn't be putting yourself in public eye. Don't be stupid."
"Shut up you ignorant fool.
Zachary Carroll Right. Some people are nuts. Lol my sister probably would. Lol
Zachary Carroll yes and that dont understand personal life from professional life... at home you should be able to be off the clock
I completely agree with you, I've actually talked about this on my channel before. It's not okay, a house is a very private thing. And the world we live in is so dangerous we have to be careful.

What kind of society do we live in where this video needs to be made?
grayhathackers A society that doesn't want the average person to be seen as a serial killer.
The same one that allowed paparazzi to be a thing
grayhathackers seriously
A society where the collective I.Q. has dropped 20 points.

If you are a true fan of any youtuber, YOU WILL NOT show up at their house.....and tbh, you shouldn't have to be told this either.
Funny meeting you here Sass :-)
Sassy Cat right but some people are psycho and thinks it's a cool somehow. Lol
You're not a jerk at all. You're a human being. Being a youtuber doesn't give others rights to violate your privacy.

CodPatrol Les Grossman Why would anyone be offended by the message here? Anybody with any level of maturity would understand this.

Did you come up with that all by yourself?
I see what you guys mean. I guess the adage "common sense isn't so common" also applies to common decency.
ComicSams Exactly, It's as if people cannot grasp the concept that youtubers, are in fact regular people and need space.
All house adresses is public information, what do you expect?
This is 1 of those things that I can't believe has to be explained. Who the hell would ever think it's cool to just stroll up to your door and be like "Sup?"
Jehovah's Witnesses
Mormons
I'd better get more milk
I just heard from your room mate boogie on Twitter. He said he wanted a raise for body guard fees.
John Smith bro... it's a joke
Ryneboy Yes I know obviously his post was a joke but my comment was for real.
John Smith why though? Why would you respond as if it's a real situation 😂
Ryneboy Because it’s the first comment I read after hearing boogie talk about his roommate and my fingershad to type down what I was thinking.
Boogie, I just had to comment that even from the thumbnail, and then from the video, can already see good progress just in your face alone.
Keep it up man. We’re all cheering for you.
Hell man, i don't even like it when my family comes by without calling first.
That story about that random person turning up at your door put chills down my spine, I agree you shouldn't just turn up at someones house especially if you dont actually know them
MezzerliptikJay chills down my spin
There we go i added an e
Nope, I think it's very disrespectful, you just can't appear at people's houses. It's just respect.
Scentsy Scotland not everyone deserves respect
Matthew W I'm pretty sure everyone does within reason. If people are going to people's houses as fans probably not meaning anything malicious by it, people's houses are so private, you don't know who anyone's circumstances are, they could be going through a break up/ divorce, going through a death, there are such a lot of events nowadays that people can go see them.
If you are referring to people who are hugely disrespectful to you or your family then no, they don't deserve respect or the anger/upset it causes you either.
Matthew W but nobody should go to somebody's property
Matthew W boogie does
If you don't feel like your home is a safe haven and private then what is???
I don't want family coming to my house 95% of the time no less a stranger who may or may not be a freaking nut. Everybody deserves to have a spot where they do not have to worry about doing anything but relaxing and should be left alone unless they want company.
why does everyone here hate their family?
This is my private domicile and I will not be harassed
...Bitch!
SerielThriller SCIENCE BITCH
BITCH
The answer is always no. Coming to someone's house un-invited is a good way to get shot. Edit - Wen it's a ytuber's house and you try to harass them (by hanging around their home or peeping into their windows) they could get you arrested .
if u shoot someone for just coming to ur house then u are a murderer
Matthew W
No, you're protecting your property. If someone comes to your house without excplicit permission and you tell them to leave and they don't, you have a right to defend your property. Better to be a murderer who defended their property and family than an obsessive sociopath.
Mr Krane I don't know them fukin shoot them
If someone comes to my property uninvited, I have the right to shoot them in the back as they walk away.
Anyone ever notice that boogie looks a lot like that Francis guy?
But a LOT slimmer.
Mxsnow145
nah
Actually, now that you mention it, yeah he does.
Mxsnow145 I don't see the resemblance 😁
nonono. don't you seee? the shirt is different
Smdh I know the feeling my wife keeps showing up at my place I guess that's what I get for having 11k subscribers.
The Vulgar Chef this needs pinned.
glue bagger I knew it. She kept telling me it was a pottery class she was going to but she always came home with the smell of another man inside her.
Your Chanel is shit and nobody like to look at dumb shit reviews
Andre Bailey thank you.
Andre Bailey why so toxic
It's even more fucked when PARENTS drive their kids to these youtubers houses like wtf man
Detroper Kids probably told their parents they were invited though.
It happened to jenna marble
Dude. It's truly sad that you even have to explain basic human decency to people.
ImagineThat exactly what I was thinking!
Who the hell complained about not being allowed to go to people's homes!?
anyone who goes to someones place like that theres something wrong with their heads, i really dont want to meet those crazies...the thing is they think theres nothing wrong with it....that makes it worse!
I don't think anyone did but it makes for a good intro.
That's what I wanna know. Where are they?
Okay, I'm not even going to watch the video. Here is the answer: Unless invited over to someone's house by the person who owns/pays the rent there, you do not go to their house, does not matter if it is someone on the internet or in your neighborhood. You do not show up uninvited!
I hate to say this but unless I'm expecting company or a package, I won't answer the door. I also have anxiety so yeah.
MsVladica, the same sentiments, here.
Oh yeah where u live??????
Wow boogie. Soon your new nickname is gonna be "slim" looking good my friend.
I had another UA-camr that I had a very public argument with leak my address. Thankfully nothing ever came of it. But that sucks people just randomly show up at your house.
Back Pocket Game Reviews I'll show up just because no one did and take a shit on your doorstep
Uncle Herbert lmao
Don't see why people would have an issue with this; I don't even like it when people I know (including family) show up with out telling me first. It's not that i have anything bad to hide, it's just that the living room might be messy, I might be in PJs, maybe trying to get work done on a tight schedule, or maybe just need to rest, ...
In summer I like to walk around naked in my house. I mean, my pets do, so why can't I? So if you don't want to be offended by my six-pack abs and huge pecs, my foot-long penis, and my lies, don't visit unannounced.
Carlos Peralta or you just smoked a bowl and havent had a chance to air out the house lols
Can you make a video describing your rise to UA-cam success? Beginning struggles? When did you see the ball start to roll? Did you go through different types of content before finding your niche? I think there are a lot of up and comers that would benefit from this info including myself. The Struggle is real brother.
FFS.. people are so disrespectful, It allways happends to any known youtuber.. and then they have to hide or have extra security.. It's fucked up..
yeah fame is so fucked up.
Maybe the big ones need to rent a fake house to do their videos at and live somewhere else. Crazy world
I think what people don't really understand is that while most youtubers don't ever get that big, the ones that do have celebrity status. Think of the security measures that hollywood celebs have to go through but youtubers aren't making that kind of money. UA-cam celebrities are unfortunately much more vulnerable to psychopathic stalkers.
I just thought of an idea…UA-cam Insurance. Also, I think it's about time UA-cam had a security sector for high profile users, I'm not joking.
boogie, you're too nice my man, you don't have to explain human decency to people, keep it up dude 😁
Adam Paolillo But he does have to explain it.
The fact that even ONE person thought/thinks that it's ok to go onto someone's private property is mind blowing to me
Ryan Casten you just can't fix stupid.
It shouldn't blow your mind. All this technology and many many people are still idiots.
I don't get it. Why would someone order "a hit" on you? There are some creepy freaky people out there.
I think he was making stuff up.
Trust me if he had a hit out for him he wouldnt be alive right now.
Some probably made it and sent it to boogie to scare him , there’s some sick people in the world
Yes why will do that l. How did he knew that hapend
It is just common decency. I don't see how anyone can have a problem with that. Also noticing you're looking alot thinner and healthier Steve.
It's sad that people have to be told not to show up to houses uninvited. Especially to people you don't personally know. It's just common sense.
AMGwtfBBQsauce i see it more as some people think they are entitled to go there because of his minor celebrity status but yeah common sense fails some
The answer to this is absolutely not. Meet him at a convention. Period. Leave him, Jessie, and Francis alone.
I don't even like my family coming to my house. I wouldn't want a bunch of random weirdos there!
Random weirdos IS my family!!!
The fact that 1 in every 50 people disliked this video scares me
Hmm, sounds about right if you think about the typical bell curve of opinion, the proportion of those who by definition have personality types one would normally wish to avoid. More worrying is that so many would be subscribers of Boogie.
Propablly missclicks
the 50th wants him to install gun turrets and buy a recreational nuke
Sadly many people are very entitled, and in this case they feel that watching Boogie entitles them to walk into Boogies house and that he should entertain them. It's just insane!
I'll call first *creepy heavy breathing and hangs up*
I would never just show up at anyone's home, except my parents. I just stop by there.
Grateful Dead I even tell my parents, just in case
Grateful Dead awesome name dude
Yeah I hear ya, parents need lovin' too.
"I´m gonna ask you politely to go away"
"Pulls out gun"
The situation he was hypothetically discussing and the situation he was faced with were very different from each-other.
