When I see what you and other artist are painting I think it is interesting to know what colors you have on the palette. Thank you mother Irit Landgfaf.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful palette. I really like the fact that you have several different brands. In my main palette I have Daniel Smith, Da Vinci, American Journey and Holbein. I am going to start comparing the different brands to see the best shade that I love, vs being loyal to one or two companies. I love your pinks and violets! Your palette is such beautiful vibrant colors. I am going to have to start watching other videos of yours!
Thanks so much Tracy! Glad to have you here! Yes, I have found that I have favorites in each brand, and also each brand has special colors, so why limit ourselves? With the basic colors you can go by availability and preference, and then branch out for the special colors :)
Thank you for sharing! I love all the phthalocyanine pigments including Schmincke Helio Turquoise, (PB16) All Phthalo pigments are pure and clean with superior covering power. They have a very high tinting strength and tend to overwhelm other pigments, but if color strength can be controlled, they make predictable mixed colors. Its interesting to hear why a certain color is not preferred and why or loved and why by other water-colorists. Thank you for sharing your favorites.
Thanks Renee for watching and commenting! I admit I was very infatuated with the Phthalo colors when I started using watercolors, but as time goes by I find I prefer the more granulating colors that are not so intense. But you are right, they are gorgeous and reliable for mixes. Great info!
I really like how your palette looks; it’s very colourful with a calming quality. I especially like your selection of blues, they’re very beautiful. It’s also interesting that you do not have any dark tones or earth tones.
i'm aware you've moved on to other palettes but your recent IG post just drew me to watch this again. hehe! i really think this is the best way to swatch watercolours. people should do this more than the gradient swatch method. how can we make this the new trend? haha~
I have many of these on my favorites palette too! Surprised you don’t have any Holbein though since you like vibrant colors. Permanent rose WN is my favorite pink but I think I have to try that schmincke ruby! Ooohhh!
Hi Irit, I loved the mint color (3rd row, far right)! Sorry to double-check but is it really the Sennelier Emerald Green? I looked it up online and it looks pretty dark and basic emerald, nothing like the fresh minty one you have in your review... please confirm because I'm in love with it! Thank you.
Thank you!! I started with just a handful of pans a few years ago, if you can spare a few dollars you can pick up a couple every month and slowly grow your collection :)
Doll no worries as a mother myself I know the feeling it's like they know what I am doing but always seemed to be the loudest when I would try to film something or try to do a voice over lol so yea it happens Doll
Thanks for sharing. I have loved watching your video. Just found your amazing UA-cam channel recently. Do you have a video of your small neutral palette and what paints you have in that one? I'd love to watch it. Also in your neutral palette there is a pale pink paint. What brand and colour is that? It looks really beautiful. Thanks love x
You can make browns, greys, & blacks with complimentary colors. That's the beauty of the color wheel, the rainbow, and the overall light spectrum (which itself does not have any browns, greys, or blacks) bc they can be mixed with the right combination of colors.
Can you compare Rembrandt to Schmincke watercolor paints in pans? I am wondering which is better to purchase since I found them online in a similar price :)
It's just a regular metal palette, only in teal (it's a product that is discontinued). You can find empty palettes like this everywhere, mostly in black, but Amazon has them in pink and blue as well. Hope that helps!
Hi Irit, I really enjoyed your video and understanding your process. I noticed that you don't have any Winsor colors - do you not like their paints? Is there a particular reason why? I am so curious. Thank you.
I admit I only have 2 tubes of their paint. I never really saw the need to try them since I don't think they have unique colors that I wanted and their quality is comparable to other brands I already own. I do have their Cobalt Violet, it's amazing, the best I've found, always in my palette :)
This is an older video so things have changed since. I have a couple of darker colors in my palette, I hardly ever use black in my paintings (except as a granulating color in some mixes)
@@iritlandgraf Thanks! Have you made a video of your later palette that contains the darker colours? I’d like to see what dark colours you use and how you use them.
@@iritlandgraf Thank you so much for providing the link. I actually watched that video before. I loved the way you swatched the paints inside the stamped paint tubes, it looks very nice. So, basically, your darks are the Daniel Smith Moon Glow and the Rembrandt Dusk paint?
at the moment. I also added Daniel Smith Hematite burnt scarlet, it's not super dark but I use it for darker values and shadow, the black granulation is very attractive IMO :)
I made my own watercolor palette with the Daniel Smith watercolors. It’s been about a week now but they don’t dry. So the paint in the pans is still not hard. Did i do something wrong? The watercolor paints from Schmicke were dry in 24 hours :(
That's quite unusual from my experience, I've had many brands and they all dry within a few days. Perhaps you are using a palette that seals completely? Have the pans been left to dry not in a closed palette?
sure, it can't hurt. From my experience Daniel Smith are actually one of the brands that dry hard and fast (unlike Sennelier, M. Graham, Schmincke...) but colors and batches can always vary. Sometimes the color separates when you open the tube... Not sure what the issue is, but can't imagine you did anything wrong since it's just squeezing paint out of a tube, and I don't see how one could do that wrong...
I don't think u did anything wrong Doll I had a few Daniel Smith colors that took a bit longer what I ended up doing was stirring them and then letting them sit longer out in the air if they not dry yet give that a try it might help cuz like she said they sometimes separate and that can cause them not to fully dry
ArtWorkOfDR / DJkittyruby i have stirred the moment i put the paint in the pans. They are a little bit dry but when i feel with my finger i feel that they are still soft. So do i need to stirred again? I use the paint now, i don’t have to wait till they dry? Or am i wrong? Arghhhh...
it's seriously SO beautiful!! i'm not cool enough to have a custom palette yet! i have a few pre made palettes (i don't know what that's called! lol) i think i'll just wait until you come out with your own vegan watercolors and use that as 'my' custom palette! lol!!! :P ha ha ha!
Lol! Yes a girl can dream! But honestly, with brands like Daniel Smith and their gazillion paints, there's really no need for more temptation!! I started with pre made palettes and they are fantastic, take your time and pay attention if your needs change, you can always add a couple of new paints slowly. IT's a process!
I feel weird about it, but I don't mix brands.. at all. There is no practical reason for that, but Daniel doesn't talk to Hans. My Daniel Smith Palette contains only DS colors and same with my Holbein. I don't know why, but I assume that paints made by the same manufacturer will always mix best... and I think they do. Using one brand only usually means that pigment combos for multiple pigment paints will be in better harmony with other paints of the same brand. I know, not rational, but that's how I set up my palettes.
Irit: Have to tell you...the screaming in the background is very distracting. One pictures small animals or children being hurt. It also is very disturbing for the same reason. It doesn't bother you, because you obviously know that no one and nothing is being harmed. OOXXOO Linda

Lol, yup they don't know what they are missing 😉
I like that you don't have browns in your palette. Very nice selection of colours!
Thank you so much!
Thank you! I would also love to know what the colours in your neutral palette are.
I will film a share video soon!

Holbein's Bright Rose is my absolute favorite pink😀
Beautiful colors

Hi! Yes it is emerald green! Perfect mint 😍😍😍
@@iritlandgraf thank you. I also love your voice, it's very easy to listen to you. :0)
@@tproud aaaa thank you ❤️❤️
That’s a beautiful pallette it means you’re a beautiful person nyo!
Sooooo beautiful. The rainbow arrangement is gorgeous and satisfying. I wish I wasn't a broke student 😢
Thank you!! I started with just a handful of pans a few years ago, if you can spare a few dollars you can pick up a couple every month and slowly grow your collection :)
I had so much fun with the cheap student palettes when I was a college student with little money 🥰
I love your beautiful palette! Ahh colors. Thanks for sharing.
Such gorgeous colours and a lovely respite to my day xo

Thanks Monique and welcome!! I actually do not have a video about that palette, but I do plan on fliming one very soon, so stay tuned!
Yummy palette! Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh a rainbow palette! Not a single brown in sight! :O
Lol! I'm all about the rainbows

I love your choice of colors! it gives me rainbow vibes! Just wondering, but what palette are you using? I can't seem to find anything like it!
That one is a regular metal palette for 24 half pans. There are a ton like these on Amazon, Etsy, AliExpress...
@@iritlandgraf thankyou!
Can you compare Rembrandt to Schmincke watercolor paints in pans? I am wondering which is better to purchase since I found them online in a similar price :)
Sorry I have only tried a couple of Rembrandt pans and they work well but I mostly have their tubes. Schmincke pans are wonderful
Hi! What is the name of the palette itself? ( the tin palette alone).
It's just a regular metal palette, only in teal (it's a product that is discontinued). You can find empty palettes like this everywhere, mostly in black, but Amazon has them in pink and blue as well. Hope that helps!

How do you create your darks and blacks?

For people interested in vegan paints, I've heard great things about Da Vinci watercolors :) (if you can get them. It is still a small company)

If anyone is in doubt no children were harmed in the making of this video.
I have heard this on many videos of crafters who have children and it’s just life. I am not bothered by it 😊🤗
Having met those two adorable children.....and their Mother - I can certainly attest to the non-harm of any living creature in that house :)
Good to know. My own "child" is a teenager now so I'm no longer used to hearing blood-curdling screams at any moment, just barking from the dogs. LOL
I had to stop the video for a sec because i thought it was my kids mucking around in the other room 😆 i paint to the same symphony sometimes lol
