This is actually very accurate. My sister was very suicidal and she was sent to psych wards very often. I would visit her often. The kids in colorful pajamas are extremely accurate but they didn’t have library’s because of the sharp edges of books. They would even use special paper that couldn’t give you paper cuts. When I would visit I would always hear someone screaming or people being strapped to beds and being put in “the silent room” it was basically a prison.

Personally, in my experiences, i would have been desperate enough to literally try to kill myself with a book if I was given the chance, so it’s a precaution that HAS to be taken. At my facility, we had board games and puzzles and tv to keep us entertained, and we watched a movie every night. I know it seems like a prison and it really does feel like one, but people HAVE to understand that the people there have either tried to or are considering ending their lives. Once it gets to that point nothing can stop them. It’s sad, but it’s true.
I’m glad to see a more accurate “Michael goes to a mental hospital” video. I can’t make myself watch the ones where it’s like a horror movie depiction. It’s not a punishment, it’s a medical treatment for a non-physical disease.
As someone who has been to psych wards multiple times. I can confirm sending your children away only makes their mental health worse, I recommend letting them stay home with the people that they love.

Eh, I only recently realized how messed up my experiences were when I was hospitalized in a mental/behavioral institution- Like- one nurse threatened to not feed me because I told her that I wasn’t going to go to the school/education center that was part of the institution (because the institution had to un-enroll me from the school I go to to enroll me into their education program). I tried to explain this to her, but she refused to listen until the instructor in the education program told her the same thing I told her. Bi tch didn’t even apologize- And when someone was having a mental breakdown, the nurses would just sit there and the person having a breakdown had to depend on other inpatients to comfort them. The only reason I didn’t see anything wrong with it at the time was because they pumped me full of strong antidepressants. But idk, that was my personal experience-

The lock down residential I was in refused to put me on bed rest because I “wasn’t sick enough” when I had a 100.9 fever…yeah my on sight therapist wasn’t too happy with that

Maybe in America and other countries mental hospitals are different, but in my case hospital made it so easier for me. We didn't have visiting days, we didn't have phones, only communication we had with our parents are transmissions with food, books etc. I've been there for almost month and I loved it there! Thought we didn't really get help there. They gave us medicine and psychiatrists cheked on our statement. People that been there helped me, also medication did. But you should count that I wanted to go there. It's an interesting experience, thought I wouldn't recommend anyone to be in the same situation as I've been. Thank you everyone who wrote kind words ❤

Everything there was so dull expect the activity area and some murals, it was full of colors and the bright uniforms are so accurate, mines was orange, there wasn't a lot of orange i remember, but a lot of blue, i think it was the reason you got in for so nurses could know how to treat you. Books were banned from my area, as well as pencils or pens, i could only use crayolas hahaha.

I’ve never been to a mental hospital but I was very suicidal when I was younger (like ages 8-12) at 12 I attempted good thing it didn’t work but I’m now living with my grandparents and they help me a lot and helped with me and my mother’s relationship. Sometimes a mental hospital isn’t needed just love and support

heres a piece of advice: only go to people you love and trust with your problems, if you don't then it could turn into a negative memory, i recommend building a bond with a professional like a therapist before really opening up and digging deep so that they can help you without it being a negative experience
Bruh this is actually pretty accurate. I've been to one 2 twice. Once for suicide and I loved it. Of course every place is different as in mine we couldn't whisper but oh my God. The grippy socks. Loved turning them around and sliding across the floor. Lucky he got to go outside tho! I went when it was too cold out to go out even tho it was warm as heck! Everyone there begged to go outside. Fun times and a good break from my parents and school

The mental hospital where I stayed wasn't like that. You could've been there for almost a month, your family could visit you specifical days. Almost no friends there, they control how much you eat, I'm happy that I went out of there, now I'm not hospitalized, I'm still in Dharma (Mental hospital) but doing activities and being with psychologist and psychiatrists, it's not that bad...I guess, I finally made friends. Im still cutting sometimes...I hope I don't get hospitalized again...

only go to people you love and trust with your problems, if you don't then it could turn into a negative memory, i recommend building a bond with a professional like a therapist before really opening up and digging deep so that they can help you without it being a negative experience

Bruh this is actually pretty accurate. I've been to one 2 twice. Once for suicide and I loved it. Of course every place is different as in mine we couldn't whisper but oh my God. The grippy socks. Loved turning them around and sliding across the floor. Lucky he got to go outside tho! I went when it was too cold out to go out even tho it was warm as heck! Everyone there begged to go outside. Fun times and a good break from my parents and school
it's crazy how movies portray mental hospitals. their not insane and full of serial killers their full of teenagers that deserve the better. i've been to one of them for a few weeks and yes some of the nurses are a little bitchy the whole place just makes up for it. it really helps you

Also, last year I did try to do self-harm. My mom found out and I got extremely scared that she would send me away to a psych ward. But all she did was keep me away from my room and not let me go inside my room for more than 3 minutes. The school guidance counceler took my blade and never gave it back. So yeah, ive been secretly trying to find a way to get a sharp item still.

My friend has been to a mental hospital to vist her uncle once and there was literal 9/5 year olds and there is also a playground for the younger kids in there so this is very accurate and there is people who scream and punch so year accurate

I am happy you are showing what they are in reality. I work in one near me and the campus is beautiful and yes it is strict. I understand some people had terrible experiences with a mental hospital and i am sorry for that.

I went to a mental hospital and it wasn’t bad but I cried a lot and I almost throw hands with a SIX YEAR OLD because he punched me and they had to pin me down
The mental hospital where I stayed wasn't like that. You could've been there for almost a month, your family could visit you specifical days.
Almost no friends there, they control how much you eat, I'm happy that I went out of there, now I'm not hospitalized, I'm still in Dharma (Mental hospital) but doing activities and being with psychologist and psychiatrists, it's not that bad...I guess, I finally made friends. Im still cutting sometimes...I hope I don't get hospitalized again...
