- A prayer to Lord Mithras said by Anthony Higgins in the 1977 BBC mini-series The Eagle of The Ninth.
Great God Mithras
Slayer of the Bull
Lord of the Ages
Hear the prayer of thy son who bears thy mark
Let the mists part and thy Glory Shine through
Draw back the mists and grant us clear air
for a space that we go not down into darkness.
O God of the Legions hear the cry of thy sons
Send down thy Light upon Us
Even upon us thy Sons of the Fourth Gaulish Cohort of the Second Legion
Om Mitradevaya namah....
Praise be Lord of lords Mithras. Savior of all. Pray Thee and Praise Thee.

To all those who think this Deity is female Mitra is actually a male figure in ancient Persian transition, the transmitter of light of Ahura Mazda to the creation, the female counterpart to Mitra is goddess Anāhita, the modern female name Mitra in Iran is a misnomer!
You are wrong my friend. Mitra is a goddess.
@@roshanakarya1081 No he isn't
No he isn't in Iran@@roshanakarya1081
Zoroastrainism isn't a Persian tradition. Its an Iranian one, and Avestan specifically. Prophet Zoroaster existed before Persians and lived somewhere in southern central Asia. His ethnic group was literally just called Iranian essentially.
To all those who even reject this. Look at rigveda not a single time where he is mentioned as a female.
What film is this? Does anybody know
I'm commenting here so that I also find out if someone answers
It's a bbc mini series called the Eagle of the ninth.
And Elohim one

Mithras isn't Hindu or Avesta. He's a Roman God and son of Sol. Sorry people.
Mithras is obviously adopted from the Iranian God Mithra.
Your sorrily mistaken, he’s an Indo-Iranian god that was brought into the Roman Empire by the Magi as a way for the Persian Empire to infiltrate Rome from the inside
He is avestan iranian god ancient religion of west of iran kurdistan
@@parvinesm954 You clear haven't read the Avesta. Mithra is one of the main Gods of all Zoroastrians across every part of greater Iran. The ancestors of Kurds, Baloch, Persians, etc all prayed to Mithra because Iranians pre-Islam were all Zoroastrian.
@@parvinesm954 he’s even older than the Avesta. His name is first recorded in 1,400 bc in a treaty between Mitanni and the Hittites.
