    Excellent work!
Remember: we the people own the government. Any ‘official’ that doesn’t like transparency needs removed.

It's not really freedom to wait for documents to take six years to arrive! Those "government officials," if found guilty of corruption, must be sent to JAIL IMMEDIATELY!

How would he ever know if he's actually receiving all information, or even the real information at times? Wouldn't be surprised it always takes so long because they're doctoring most all of them.

its illegal to spoil records which means alter or do fraud or conceal etc. however ur right though im guessing it would be hard to catch but if caught it violates penal codes and other codes jail time

@@jasonstokes5469 ur right but people to rise up to help it improve. like a state gov hopefuly can get fed gov to intervene
but when feds and upper gov is biased. then it is harder to fight

It should be like court documents where you have only 21 days (I think) to respond, and can request a limited extension if it’s going to take longer.

They are supposed to respond to a foia request within 20 business days according to federal law. There are circumstances where it can take longer and they can extend that but the way the law reads it appears they're supposed to have objective reasons to justify it taking longer. The problem with the foia law is that there is no remedy for non-compliance. Meaning they are supposed to respond within some reasonable timeframe or have objective reasons for not doing so, like searching for records or whatever, but there is nothing that can happen to them if they don't. Meaning you can't sue them and get any money from them or do anything to punish them or whatever for obviously violating federal law.

Had to answer FOIAs frequently during my 36 year government employee
All it takes is a written request for info.. be as specific as you can.
    Any Joe can do it.
Sometimes, people abused the system just like a Karen would act at the local meeting

  • @elizabethbaierl3055

The uptick in the use of FOIA is likely due to the fact it went from hard copy snail mail to online forms
