If JR says it's really really hard, then I don't feel bad for getting lost in 5/8, 13/16, 5/8, 19/16 land.

It's not that hard to count. I just strongly advise against counting like he describes, where you count every single 16th note. Counting every 16th note is a recipe for madness. There is no substitute for just feeling it out, and using bigger marking points. So for those 3 chords that are each held for 3 16th notes, I would just count those like "1, 2, 3" each number being a new chord, and in the back of my mind I know each one is held for 3 16th notes... rather than counting 3 16th notes on each chord. That's no way to enjoy the music as you play it anyway, if you're always running numbers in your head rather than just feeling it once you got it down.

Wow! How on earth do you make decisions about which sounds to use? That is obviously the product of an astonishing measure of creativity! Thank you for counting out the time signatures.

The raw genius behind this song. So many time signatures. Wow.

They make the time signatures sound more complicated than they are. There's no need to literally count every single 16th note, that's just absurd. Better to count the accents, and even then "count" isn't really the right word.

Thanks Jordan. I think this is the one that pulled me in. There's been so many great teasers this past year! But I have to see more of this. What's going on during that solo section?? I'm kind of a guitarist with no experience on keys but I'll see you at Patreon for these deep dives soon.

No need to literally count every single 16th note, that's just absurd. These guys make odd time signatures seem way more complicated than they really are. You don't count every single 16th note as you play, that's just a recipe for overthinking and a non-musical performance. You pick accent points, and count those, knowing how long each accent point is in the back of your head without thinking about it because it's memorized.
