Hello! Was nice to talk to you there. That was my stall at the start (I'm Allan) and someone did steal £950 worth of games from me, but luckily they got greedy and came back and got caught, so I got them back. He had nearly £2000 worth of games in his bag when he got caught :(
Thank you very much for sharing footage of our stall 🙏 Unfortunately, much like Allan we also got items stolen by the same thieft! However, these items were on the back of the stall on the white framing you can see in the video. It is such a shame that some people find the need to attack local buisnesses in a friendly community enviroment! The theift stole over £2,500+ worth of goods from just over 5 different stalls until someone caught them in the act. Luckily for us, we have vibrant new stickers stating if the Game is Complete or missing manual with our Sore Thumb branding on it otherwise anybody could have stated the claim to them! Thanks for coming and talking to us Gebs, we'll catch you at the next Video Game Market!
Nah you don’t put a £500 game in the rummaging totes! Plus those poor old Nintendo cardboard Gameboy games on the floor! Can’t condone that! Absolute madness! All those Snes & N64 games should have been in plastic cases! My mind can’t comprehend what I’ve just seen 🤣😂 great video though as always 👍🏼
Not sure how'd they'd stop thieves as people need to look at these things before they purchase and there's so much merchandise and so many people, I think they need to put their most expensive stuff at the back. Hopefully if anyone sees the thefts they report them as it is going to spoil these games markets for everyone.
Hi @@Larry! In an ideal world, we absolutely would! unlike other traders mentioned, we had our stock right at the back and still got them stolen with 2 members of staff on. As traders, we have VERY limited room, which is something the public isn't often thought about. There is usually space under the tables but behind you is either a wall or another trader as these events want as many traders as possible. If you store these games and manuals under the table it only opens another opportunity for people to steal unfortunately ☹ Love your vides Larry! You produce some great content!
Yes, The cases Versus the actual boxes is a frowny-face, however, better a case than loose. I’m like you, if I get a game without the official case or manual, I try to piece it together. Rarely do I buy something incomplete, but if it’s a really hard to find games at a great price I grab it. I finally obtained a proper case for my Shadow off the Dammed for 360 (I had the manual), and I’m still looking for a box and manual for my Robocop Versus The Terminator for SNES. If that doesn’t happen, it’s in a case.
Absolutely terrible about those games being stolen, tbh the next time one of these are being hosted in Leeds I probably won't attend as it was a nightmare to get in and around the place.
I think very expensive games should be in locked vitrine. Found today a nice bargain from flea market, the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 game for PS2, just 1,50 Euros :) Wanted to have some golf game, as before this, my newest golf game is the Leaderboard Golf for Amiga :D I always enjoyed playing the Leaderboard with Commodore 64 and Amiga 500, but somehow never bought any more modern golf games, until today.
I think we'll start to see empty box stalls at most retro-game places like this in the future. You just can't trust people to handle all these £100+ games without eyes in the back of your head. Although some of empty game boxes are worth a bit too. No easy solution against thieves.
I can't believe people went there and stole games. I genuinely thought these game fairs would have lovely people like yourself who are just passionate about games. Looking forward to seeing the pickups.
Although such people no doubt make up the majority of visitors, given the high prices retro systems and games command these days I suppose it's sadly inevitable that a few thieves would target these events.
Youd wonder why content creators push out content still when all people do is criticise what there doing. When someone says im not having a go at you directly it means exactly the opposite and think by saying that its a get out of jail free card.
It took me almost an hour to watch this as I wanted to see as much as I could😂Retro gaming haven (apart from the minority who think it's okay to steal from these places). Awesome video Gemma
Love the vid.... I was there on the sat and someone tried to steal over £1000 worth of games... Disgusting. I had a great time walking round and buying a few games👍
Nice to see so much boxed games and GameBoy games really seem to go up and up. Regarding those generic/bootleg/aftermarket cases I'm okay with those if the price reflect it in the same way as a loose copy/ loose + manual and not as CIB.
Not even thinking about these with thief’s in mind but gameboy cardboard at them prices I wouldn’t want them in a box with all the rummaging through they will receive 🤷🏼poor things 😉 I agree I don’t like them SNES plastic cases. You was belting out the accents on this vid i lost count & FIFA 95 get on it 😂 Price difference from stall to stall can get crazy as proven with grandia. Them Xbox original games you pulled out near end was expensive,i know that from shopping for mainly Xbox original for 8 months.A lot of gaming p0rn in this vid, loved it 🤘✌️
I know its weird but I always bought the region of games that had the generic boxes. Like if I want to collect Mega CD I'll get PAL because the cases are generic, I'll avoid PAL dreamcast because they use those silly blue cases so I went with USA/JP. As a result I have almost no disc based games that don't look mint. Just get a quick fix on ebay or a media outlet and buy the standard cases and swap them out. It irks me the amount of man handling those games are getting in these shows so I only buy stuff on the back rows that are expensive, but hardly touched.
All the cardboard game boxes here should have plastic sleeve protectors considering the amount of handling going on. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty of CIB game collecting, the creased and dented boxes really do devalue games.
@@StabStabStabStabby Also, they just throw them in boxes or on the floor sometimes. I only went go 2 games shows like this and bought 2 items for £180 which were at the back out of harms way. Most of these shows are way up north and i'm down south where only London seems to get shows so the travel cost has to be considered before you think you've got a good deal. Then you need to consider than privileged people get in first to get the good stuff before the average folk like me get a look in.
@@atomiswave1971 I think of these retro shows as a day out rather than a place for bargain hunting. I only keep on top of nintendo prices and everything in this video was top end ebay prices anyway.

What really angers me is how people handle stock , for instance when you had hold of Zool for Atari jaguar , because you couldn’t be bothered putting the camera down you tanned and shoved it back causing potential damage to the delicate card box, that’s not me having ago but I think you should handle other peoples stuff with a little more respect

keep the discs and manuals seperate from the boxes helps for starters.

This is soooo weird because I was thinking about asking earlier if anyone ever gets caught trying to steal at these things...
One game I'd like to get is Bomber man on the PS1, I played it on demo back in the day. Prices look a little scary at these game markets
The handhelds! ♥️ that’s my passion. Wow! I need to get to one of these events down south!
Yeah that particular stall of mods was mind blowing

Part 2 nice 👍
Why did the seller do it? Did they not have enough space on the stall? Did they not know what was in the boxes or simply not care/being naive?
I don’t know. I asked him but he didn’t seem phased
