@smitbar11 Hello Barry! How brilliant that you are my 500th subscriber! 😀Thank you so much! It is great that we are running and enjoying it in our 60's! 🤸♀️
Hi Will, thank you so much for your message! Sending lots of good vibes for your 5k - enjoy! And here's to a fabulous and fun 60's! I am loving being in my 60's! 😀
Great running Julia. It's very inspiring seeing someone racing at 65. I'm 56, have been running regularly for 12 years but according to my ex-girlfriend I'm too old. I'll never give up as I love it so much. Have dome quite a few races in Hyde Park.
Hi there Geoff 😊 Well done - we're never too old - it's fun to be still enjoying my running and I have always looked ahead at people older than me who are still 'going for it' in life and been inspired ! ✨️And now I'm the one doing the inspiring! 😄But I still look ahead at people in their 70s and 80s 90s and beyond living life to the full 😀😀😀
New sub here, thank you for sharing your experience and success with us all, especially those of us new to running… I have two 5K’s coming up and a 1/2 this year, maybe two 1/2 marathons… You look AMAZING!!! ❤❤❤
Hello Leesah! Thank you !❤Welcome to the channel! it's great you're here - and how fabulous you've got two 5ks and maybe two halfs this year! Excellent! It has been wonderful for me to see running growing and growing! I joined my first Athletics Club 50 years ago this July - as the first female member in the club - so as you can imagine, I have seen some changes to the sport!🙏❤❤❤
@@RunWithJulia I only started this April since they've just opened this new office 4 miles from home. I probably won't do it come next winter. But it's N California so it's never bad really. Last week I ran 2 x week. I'll try to keep it at 2 x week the runs and 3 bike rides. One run isn't enough! :)
@@factcheckthesehands364 Thank you so much 🙏🏻I saw a woman of 80 on instagram hanging from the bar in the gym and raising her legs up in a V ! I can't do that ( yet!😀) so I am practising! And I said to my PT Tom - we've got 15 years to get there 😅😂
Wow! Great run.🏃🏼♀️➡️💪🏻 I’m 49 almost 😬and love running, have run 33km, 21km and maratons and I just hope that I can still run when I’m 65+ Congratulations ❤
Thank you so much! 😀And well done for all your running! Great stuff 👏 And yes , it's fun to be still enjoying running now, and I plan to keep on keeping on! 😀 And the age thing really is just a number🏃🏼♀️☀️
Impressive stuff Julia! 🏃♀Hopefully you get to put your season pass to good use in the remainder of 2024! I did another 3k/800m Wednesday. I took just over a second off my 3k time and over 2.5 seconds off in the 800 to bring me under 2:20 for the first time ever. Back in my school days my best was around 2:20-2:25. PB hunting is slightly easier when you miss those super fast years between 16-35 😂
Thank you Steve! 😀I think I better use my season pass a bit more!!! 😅 well done well done!!! 👏 such fun getting faster times! You're right about the pb chasing! My first county 800 age 15 was 2.20 and my best age 20 something was 2.11 😂😂 no pbs coming for me I think!!! 😀
Well done Julia! As we know age is just a number and my jibber is 63. As you already have a cameraman following you, I’m expecting some mega professional videos from you 🤩
Hi Julia your times and age are amazing. Can you tell what speed work you do and how do you breathe so easily. I am 72 and struggle with breathing and trying to beat 27 minutes for a 5k. Many thanks
Hello Trevor, Thank you for your message. I am a great believer in super easy running and enjoying it and also keeping strong in the gym. I generally do two interval sessions a week or when I'm racing more one interval session and the race. I have always found that 3 minute intervals with 1 min walk/ very slow jog work for me... When I'm only racing up to 5k then 6 x 3 mins with 1 min rest is great and the session must feel fluid and fun and I have always been this way even back in the day when I was super fast. If I'm training to race further I take the session up to 10 x 3 mins with 1 min rec. If you're new to the session 2 mins rec is a good idea. The other session I love is 1 min interval I min slow jog 2 mins interval 1 min slow jog 3 mins interval 2 mins slow jog repeat 2 - 3 times when training for 5k and 4 - 5 times when training for further. I hope that helps a bit 🙏🏻
@@RunWithJulia Hi Julia, thank you so much for such a quick and informative reply of which I shall definitely use within my training. I returned to running after 30 or so years 3 years ago and whilst my head is back in the 80’s/90’s my body definitely isn’t and whilst I enjoy many youtube running channels so very little is aimed at mine or yours age which is why I find yours enjoyable as there is something to interest all age groups. My goal is to run under 5hours for a marathon which will be good for age (72) pb back in the day 3.09 and to go under 2 hours for the half (pb 1.21) and have only achieved 5.20 and 2.12 respectively so was looking for some inspiration to put into my training and you have certainly achieved that. I am sure you are a very busy lady and thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to reply so comprehensively to me as it means so much to this individual. Kind and warm regards and every success not only on your channel but also for your running future. X
Hi Trevor - I'm glad my ideas were useful... When I was a marathon runner I would do 10 x 3 mins with 1 - 1.5 min jog and also 6 x 5 mins with 2 - 2.5 min jog 😀 All best wishes and good vibes for your training! 🙏🏻xxx
Ahh how fabulous... We're both into a new group! Good wishes to you for all your races... The wonderful thing about running is that the times we run are ours uniquely, and who knows what is possible! I have a 25 year old 'me' alive and well inside who believes anything is possible and that its all ahead! 😀😀😀And a 65 year old me that is delighted to still be loving running! 😀
Subbed! Just stumbled across your channel. Wonderful running form! I'm a couple months from being 61. I returned to running in 2012, by switching to Vibram FiveFingers. I hadn't run since '97, after badly injuring my left knee training for a race. I run year round in them, and 4 years ago, added cross-training on a very heavy mountain bike, riding it on the same mountain trails that I run on. I just ran in the Grand Canyon again, near the end of May and will be going back in mid-August for my 13th R2R as a marathon distance run. ua-cam.com/video/vhz72W_aZKg/v-deo.html
Wow! Well done 🎉that is so good to read about your journey and how you have got back into running and have such an adventure ahead! I train in vibrams and skinners socks and completely barefoot and then race and run intervals in my vaporflys 😊😊😊😊
I could see by your warm up that you would run a good time. What was the official name of this race? I ran a couple of those "Run Through Chase The Moon/ Sun" 10K races at the Olympic Park, plus a couple of the once-monthly Ealing Miles in Lammas Park and am hoping to do one of The Serpentine 5K races which are held on the last Friday of each month in Hyde Park. By the way, it's likely people calling your name out as you ran because it is printed on your BIB. I often get thrown by this in races too, and assume someone who knows me has just spotted me and look to see who it is.
Thank you for your message! 😊 This was the RunThough 5k and 10k on June 8th - I used to run the last Friday 5ks over 20 years ago and keep intending to return! But the RunThrough races are easy to get to timewise with work 😊 you are right about the bib😊 Good luck for your races 🎉
