On our travels for ‘After the Storm,’ our team learned about a nightly event that has become a seasonal staple in Austin, Texas. Millions of bats have made a home in the crevices beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge, and each evening, hundreds of people gather to watch them emerge in search of dinner.

Crazy. I was in Austin last sept just for a day. I read about this in the hotel directory and was curious why I had never heard of it before. I got in too late to see it and left too early the next day. Next time I’m going to make the time.

What they don't tell you is that they don't always come out. It also is only for a certain season but even in the middle smack dab of their most active during the season there are nights where they just don't come out and people are still let down
