- Five people have been stabbed on the closing day of the Notting Hill Carnival, the Metropolitan Police said.
Two of those who were stabbed are in a life-threatening condition, the force said, adding that the 32-year-old woman stabbed on Sunday also remains in a life-threatening condition.
There was also an incident involving a corrosive substance, the Met said.
Police made at least 230 arrests on Monday, including 49 for possession of an offensive weapon.

In 1996, I was fortunate enough to be invited to stay with friends of (wealthy) friends at their place in Notting Hill during the carnival. Their balcony overlooked one of the sound systems. I'd been to the carnival many times before, but this was when it was turning violent. The 'steaming' had just started and 'jungle' was in vogue. All of a sudden, a knife fight broke out in the crowd. We watched as perhaps twenty to thirty youths pulled blades and set about each other, lunging and stabbing. All set to the beat of the music.
It all seemed very Roman. Us, on a balcony sipping champagne and snorting coke while, in the cockpit below, people were pitched against each other in a battle of life and death. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.
Should be banned.

The class system doesn't cost people anything. You can actually go up and down the class system in the UK. if you work hard you go up. If you don't you go down. Or in general if your character doesn't suit that class, you're not accepted. The class systems value really comes down to the individuals conformity in the group.
If we compare all those to Nottinghill carnival. On a class system, working class don't even have a street carnival every year where people get together drinking, taking drugs and the women half naked in front kids grinding on each other. People using random ears gardens to piss, and they're absolutely happy to be filmed on the ring camera missing in the garden. Then it's so crime ridden it cost the police alone over £11M in 2023.
So protection wise compared to trident is actually a negative because of the cost and the stabbings and the crime.
Tourism wise unlike the monarchy, it doesn't add any value to notitnghill or londons economy. Infact it takes away from the economy.
Even when the different classes celebrate the Queens jubilee it was never like this what so ever. And they where country wide street parties. This is just a street party in one small area of London and it cost on average 12M just in police without the rest of the destruction tangible and intangible!

The BBC text service yesterday evening (Monday) presented the Carnival as a wonderful display of Caribbean culture. No mention of any unrest or of violence at all. Surely the impartial BBC would not possible be less than entirely honest in their reporting, would they?
