Aloha JT, Awesome haul ! You brought back a few memories with Country Funk . That Black Oak Arkansas "Raunch & Roll" Live is my personal favorite by Black Oak Arkansas. I enjoy that Dave Mason lp with mama Cass. Thanks again JT for sharing your haul. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
Hi JT. It looked very quiet in Josey Records. As usual, you've managed to sniff out some bargains. I love Cass Elliot. I've never seen the album you showed by her with Dave Mason. I must check it out on UA-cam. Her sister (married to Larry Knechtel) had a couple of good records too which were re-released on CD a few years ago ... I hope those stickers come off easily ... So many cool bands have come out of Boston, the Del Fuegos included ... I was surprised that you haven't got any Long Ryders. 'Native Sons' was my introduction ... Wow, 'The American Dreamer' soundtrack is a rare find. I don't recognise any of the names on there (apart from Gene Clark of course). I must make a note of them and do a little research. All the best from the UK, Carl
Right.. I had never had any Long Ryders ! Knew about Sid from the record we did, and heard about his band. You are the first to know about "American Dreamer" soundtrack.. very rare find, and a good buy ! You will enjoy the Dave and Cass album.. several nice ones on there. The stickers do come off easily. I have wanted that Danny Kirwan LP for a very long time, so Josey Records was a good stop in Dallas for me ! Cheers Carl.. Talk again..
Thanks Mark, and pretty eclectic mix, geared to my taste. My flip video didn't have much in it.. that way no one could say.. "JT you missed that one and this one" Hehe..
Wow things really are big in Texas, that's a huge store. You would need hours and hours to go through all of those records. So, Lonnie Mack is now on my want list after hearing you talk about him. I used to have some Gino Vanelli records a while ago, but I remember one out of all of them that I liked and it was that one, Brother to Brother. Glad you picked up that "Heads or Tails" album and thank you for the shout out! Wow, and it's even sealed, that's excellent! I'm putting Danny Kirwan on my want list too since I love those Fleetwood Mac years, but I never had any of his solo works. Excellent finds with the pristine copies of The The, The Members, The Long Ryders, Del Fuegos (been looking for that album as I had a promo from way back when it was released and I don't have it anymore). Very nice haul!
Thanks Mike.. Yeah, those records magically appeared, and I knew I wanted them. " Gist Of The Gemini" is good too by Gino Vannelli .The best place to hear Danny Kirwan is on "Kiln House" "Bare Trees" and "Future Games" and can't forget "Then Play On".. Peter let Danny have half of the album !!! we do have similar taste, indeed ! Haha.
Great finds for sure JT. Coincidentally I just picked up that B.O.A. album on the weekend. I remember seeing Saga three or four times. They just kept getting better each time and their stage set up was incredible. Thanks for sharing and ☮️.
I want more Black Oak Arkansas albums ! Had the one with the map of Arkansas on it years ago. and Saga, I am very new to it. You guys in the VC have turned me onto them. I scored at least 10 records that I have wanted, so it was a good stop, for sure at Josey Records. Thanks Walter !
Very cool haul Jt. Big store! I got a backache from just imagining how long it would take to go through the $1 & $2 albums. A wonderful fact filled video as always. Can't wait to see your finds from the garage. Later
Yeah Dan, it's gonna be good ! My instinct is to fill holes from stuff that you and I like. I don't sell right now, and I should think of value, and I am gonna pull that " Mom's Apple Pie" out of there.. I listened, killer music, love it, and rare to find. evidently.
What a great looking record shop. I would have been in there for days. Seems like you got some great finds. Love that Edgar winter album. Dave Mason is a great artist. Saw him in Pittsburgh I think in 74 or 75. Great show. I love the Peter Green years of Fleetwood Mac.
Yeah Peter , Danny , And Jeremy were great ! And let's not forget John and Mick with that high powered rhythm section ! Danny Kirwan's guitar work on "Albatross" made that song.. he was so good ! I have 2 or 3 more Johnny Winter albums to get.. eventually. They are on the list ! Tony P.. I thank you !
Great finds as always! I just started to get into listening to Saga this year because I saw the lead singer Michael Sadler with ProgJect earlier this year. Simply amazing vocals. Little operatic sometimes but still love it. Keep digging!
Me too ! I heard a few guys talk about Saga, and while in Vegas, visiting my sister, I found "World's Apart" in the shrink at Zia records, that was my first.. I have 4 now, and will coast with those until I get familiar with them. Thanks for checking this out TS.
Love that Del Fuego album, definitely their best. I found some real nice rare items at Joesy the two times I visited. The best Long raiders is their first album, it is a 80s classic.
Hi JT!! so cool to see you back at home in your music room. Josey's seems to be a pretty cool record shop, maybe to big for my taste, it's kind of difficult find things in such a big place..... Your next trip to Japan will be epic, just remember "don't get mad, get even". cheers and be well
I like the small shops too, and I wish I could get that Tokyo Blade to you, ( it might not have a lot of bass ) and it's probably gone, might call the owner, actually. I bought Y&T "Contagious" as well.. but didn't show it with this grouping, the video was already long. I love Y&T !! Thanks Cristian.
Going back in March, and thanks for mentioning Tower, because I do want to go there as well ! Josey Records was fun, I could have shown more record flipping that I filmed, but I had a stack of records I wanted to show off ! Haha. Thanks for watching !
Your knowledge never ceases to amaze me JT, just brilliant. Huge haul of really interesting pick ups. That is my favourite The The album, and you have the rare Torture cover. That’s not the standard production one. Seriously great and important album for me. Members still sealed, wow, that’s nice. Danny Kirwan lot of respect for that man. The Dallas shop overwhelmed me even looking at a video of it! So much stock! Well done JT. Mike
Thanks Mike ! And appreciate you acknowledging what a great record that The The is.. poster is not intact, I don't care, love having it ! The bands name alone is the coolest, I remember when I first heard "The The".. ingenious, and artful ! Love Danny Kirwan's music.. " Bare Trees" and " Future Games" were my first introductions into his brilliant songwriting, I didn't identify who it was way back then, just that I loved the music. Cheers Mike ! ( I'll check my e mail )
Hey Jt. That store looks very dangerous to me! Great finds and good prices. Don’t have those Phillips records but I have three of them and grab them anytime I see them. I have the Longriders first album. Also have those Vanelli, Members, and Kirwin records. Definitely want to visit that store. Cheers.
You are the only one so far who has "Second Chapter" ! Danny didn't like Bob Welsh very much towards the end, and he was competitive ! The touring was grueling, and he just snapped when he through his 1959 Les Paul up against the dressing room wall ! Funny that Mick fired him, because Danny carried the band. The Mac always found a way though.. Josey's is cool, and the prices were very good, actually.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Been a bigFM fan way before Buck/Nick. My Kirwin is a Brit import. Also have a couple of Jeremy Spencer albums as well. Of course I have a few Welsh albums. Hitting a record fair this weekend, and I have my list, although I always stray from it. Cheers again.
@@vinylmartini3377 Same here, I buy what looks good, and if it's on the list, fine, although condition is always a factor.. I love Future Games. Kiln House, Bare Trees. Then Play On, Penguin. Mystery To Me, and everything Green before what I mentioned !

It was so nice visiting that record store with you 😊 thanks for filming inside the store. Your collection is massive! Excited to see more of your videos
Thanks Monica ! Seriously went on a Kate Bush binge ! You, and several others have been chatting her up, and I made a keeper playlist on my Amazon Music. I don't like streaming, only to sample stuff, so I do use it a lot, actually. I love my Cd's, and play them in my car constantly, being the thrifter that I am finding vinyl and Cd's all over town ! See you on yours Monie !
Lonnie Mack and Saga are great picks. They all look like they're in great condition, too. I really like your description captions at the bottom of the screen while you talk about a record or band.
I appreciate that.. I tend to show a lot of records, so it keeps the time consise, down to 1 minute per record, hopefully , and add more good information. That's a real good Lonnie Mack.. Thanks for noticing, and I am still getting into Saga.. ✌️
I picked Y&T " Contagious" as well ! The video was getting too long so I chopped it from this video, such a good record Aaron. I was thinking of you because I just brought Stick It To Ya Slaughter home, along with a real good best of Tesla ! Might have both, but it is great to leave these in the car.. I'm hooked on " What You Give" right now..
This works way better for me anyways. I'm definitely more likely to end up crate digging in Texas opposed to Japan. I know multiple people that have shopped at Josey and fawn over it.
I mean, it's pretty good Eric, prices were good on the few hard to find records that I bought. I will try another Dallas store , if there is a next time.. I'm locked in mentally to that dig I'm on at Bill's house here in town right now ! And I realized Japanese press in Bangkok is priced way lower than in Shibuya Tokyo ! The dollar is strong right now in Thailand. See you on yours.. Cheers !
A trip to Forever Young Records would have been a good trip too. Very pricey but a ton of holy moly Records on their walls. I found some good records at reasonable prices at Josey’s in August. Wished You could have met Bill of Bill’s Records. Pan back through your video and a sign points to a section Commemorating him. It will probably take years to sell all his vinyl. When I last went there pre pandemic half the store was empty. They had just least the back portion of the building and had acquired Bill’s Collection
Very cool about Bill ! Forever Young I looked at, and my wife wanted to go to that part of town, I think ? Glad I went to Josey's though.. I have been looking casually for most of the records I bought there ! I'm usually not looking for expensive grails, because I tend to run into many on the cheap ! Thanks Greg... I'm going digging at Bill's this Sunday.. I can't wait ! Thanks for watching !
Texas starts with T like Tokyo, so close enough I reckon Jt 😂 This was an interesting one for me. You had a lot I wasn’t familiar with, but I knew all the people they were associated with playing for or with. Great to see some Long Ryders & The The (different cover to mine). I’ve been pushing Mike PC31 the vinyl policeman to do a The The feature. From what I can gather he pretty much has everything. Cheers….Ben
That's my first TheThe on vinyl, and just the start for more ! Long Ryders , have been wanting records by Sid Griffin and band for years ! How was Magnetic Island Ben ? Mike should do a The The, I'll prompt him too !
Yo Jt, very nice. I hit that place everytime I'm in DFW. I planned to do one of my Record Store Spotlight series videos the next time I was there. I always wondered how they got away with Americas biggest record store, because I'm almost positive that Ameoba Records (Los Angeles/Hollywood) is still the largest... have to do some research on that. I am super jealous you were in Shibuya!! When did Dave move to Reno??? I know Dave (from RKS Guitar days like 15 yers ago), he lived here in Los Angeles. Guy is just an absolute jerk to the hilt (lol)... but great GREAT artist. Nice The The. The Del Fuegos are sooo underrated; talked about very little in the VC, I actually love them. Totally unfamiliar with that Long Riders LP. Great video Jt! - TONE
Your right, because Amoeba Los Angeles is definitely bigger than Josey's ! Dave Mason moved to Reno about 2 years ago, before he was in Gardnerville, down the hill from South Lake Tahoe. I used to see him on North Shore Lake Tahoe, and our friends band became Dave's backing band ( 1984 ), or so. Long Ryders were part of that Cowpunk scene, but more Byrds like. I never met Sid, but Kai did. ( Gene Clark's son ) Yeah.. Del Fuegos are so good !
2 out of 4 of us needed a 2nd vaccine card ( booster ) .. one being me ! Could have sent my wife. and Sean to have fun, and pick a few records for me.. we just stayed in the extremely comfortable Haneda lounge instead !
@@alanboas810 I could have mentioned it, but people feel differently about covid stuff, when you are over there, you have to abide ! Thailand is open, although the locals still wear masks. Great trip all in all .
Hey! Blimey, that's a lot of records in the shop, I'd like to spend a while looking through those. Funny, I was listening to my copy of Lonnie Mack's Whatever's Right a couple of days ago. I really like his rootsy soul albums, but The Hills of Indiana is my favourite by him because it's a far more country gospel sounding album and the great Don Nix was involved. Interesting to see the US cover of The The's Infected. That's a dark album, the lyrics are rather grotesque and it's all quite claustrophobic. I don't think Matt Johnson was in a good place when he made that album. I saw The The in Nottingham back in 2018, at quite an intimate gig. A great night, Johnson was in fine form performing a set drawn from across his career. I've got that Long Ryders mini album/EP, but my copy twins it with with the Native Sons album with has Gene Clark guesting on it. I still need to get hold of their later albums. Sid Griffin did a lot to bring people's attention to the work of Gram Parsons, who by the mid 80s had almost been forgotten. He wrote on of the first books about Parsons, which is next to impossible to get hold of these days. Well done finding the Country Funk album. It's a good one. Cheers - Hedley
So glad you saw this Hedley. I have seen that Sid Griffin book, Kai has one I believe, had you ever seen that " American Dreamer" soundtrack album ? Your right about " Infected" being dark.. its my first on vinyl by them, so I had to do it ! Was definitely thinking of your when I spotted Country Funk, pleased to have it. great music, absolutely !
Amazing looking record store! Where would you even start? Overwhelming actually 😂 Glen K had THe The in his list of worst band names ever lol Great pickups and video JT
I like that name, and it's stylized towards the genre that Matt Johnson's music is in post punk art rock, that sort of thing. Cool store Gary, and I hit stores pretty hard, I get in, and get out ! Finding what I want, and not second guessing much.. personally those are all records that I have wanted . Good thing to run across that "Dream Police" on Japanese wax in Bangkok, prices are much better than Japan, and I hope to run into a "Live At Budokan" soon. See you on yours.
I've never been there but kind of feel like I have. I've seen it several times on another channel. This past week I found some records that I have never seen before in my lifetime. They were in a box of 78's I bought. There were 4 that I thought were 78's, but when I when tried to play them sounded like chipmunks on speed,so tried 45 still the same, 33 same, then 16 and still too fast. I couldn't go any slower. Then I read the fine print and it is to be played at 8rpm. I never heard of that before.
Harry.. I have never heard of that before ! I'm gonna look that one up, very unusual, for sure ! And yes, I have heard others talk about Josey Records.. glad to have picked this one, although there were a few other contenders in Dallas !
Thanks.. could have shown a little more flipping, but I bought 16 records ! I left a nice copy of Y&T "Contagious" out of the video, really like them, somewhat like early Van Halen, and Sammy Hagar like vocals.
Thank you Richard ! Good to be home, and I'm getting the traveling bug in my later years.. ready to go again , whenever ! Will tune in and see what your last video is. Cheers !
Yeah, got my usual mixed bag of bands ! Kind of had a list, but only wanted to spend a little more than an hour in there, and I generally know'em when I see them ! Thanks.
You seem to have much better control of the camera than me for cratescape flyovers. What are you using? An iPhone and steady hand, moving slowly? Or something else?
Right, and we have to be respectful when in Japan, so better luck, and for sure we are coming again in late March ! This time I'm shopping !! Prices are better in Bangkok for Japanese pressings.. I can tell from your video's at Disk Union and other stores in Shibuya.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Prices are all over the place which is why I shop online here. That's my first TheThe on vinyl, and just the start for more ! Long Ryders , have been wanting records by Sid Griffin and band for years ! How was Magnetic Island Ben ? Mike should do a The The, I'll prompt him too !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Holiday was fantastic thanks Jt. Such a laid back beautiful place. We swam in the ocean everyday...heaven!
@@benrankins4446 Sounds amazing ! next trip I'm gonna hit the beach way more, and we have the best one close to our home in Chonburi Province.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I love a beach holiday. I think because I grew up landlocked, the beach seems like a luxury to me.
@@benrankins4446I love islands, and beaches. really a beautiful area Ben. Nice to have you back..and I'll see you on your next video !
cool stuff. joseys looks overwelming. i gotta look into the members. don't think I'd heard of them but sound like my kinda thing.
Real good British Punk.. very tight, not too loose at all, excellent band ! sample, and see what you think Steve. Thanks Man !
Thanks Tone ! It's good to get to know you.. cool !
Enjoyed the video my friend.. man that guy on the black ark Arkansas cover wow.. lol
Yeah .. that was Jim Dandy ! What a Wildman !! Stoner, The Old Goat, and me like Black Oak Arkansas a lot ! Thanks Rod.
Awesome video man great pick ups
I had Y&T "Contagious" in that haul as well.. video was getting too long. Thanks JC ! See you on yours.
Why couldn't you go inside the record store in Tokyo?
Like the The The Infected!
And: the Dennis Hopper poster!
🦓
2 out of 4 of us needed a 2nd vaccine card ( booster ) .. one being me ! Could have sent my wife. and Sean to have fun, and pick a few records for me.. we just stayed in the extremely comfortable Haneda lounge instead !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I understand now. Thanks. 🦓
I'll look for " Hills Of Indiana" in my travels.. Thanks Hedley.
Right.. " Native Sons" is the debut Long Ryders ! Hope to find one soon. Yeah Gene is on one track, I believe..
You've got the best Black Oak right there!
I agree ! I remember it, and couldn't leave without it !
Amazing looking record store! Where would you even start? Overwhelming actually 😂
Glen K had THe The in his list of worst band names ever lol
Great pickups and video JT
I was hoping you posted a video about trip to Josey’s
Thanks.. could have shown a little more flipping, but I bought 16 records ! I left a nice copy of Y&T "Contagious" out of the video, really like them, somewhat like early Van Halen, and Sammy Hagar like vocals.
Welcome back.
Thank you Richard ! Good to be home, and I'm getting the traveling bug in my later years.. ready to go again , whenever ! Will tune in and see what your last video is. Cheers !
Bummer about Japan but looks like Josey did you ok 😁. Great shop!
Yeah, got my usual mixed bag of bands ! Kind of had a list, but only wanted to spend a little more than an hour in there, and I generally know'em when I see them ! Thanks.
Going back in March again, so we'll stay overnight this time ( Tokyo)..
So cool we both went to Josey Records.. you in KC, me in the big D !!!
You seem to have much better control of the camera than me for cratescape flyovers. What are you using? An iPhone and steady hand, moving slowly? Or something else?
There is a small icon .. touch Stabilize" and it will smooth out your shaky video ! I use my phone as well !
The stores are fun, but you have to be budgeted or you’ll just find the same records at 30% less at other venues after you’ve bought them. If you are ever looking to identify something, please feel free to contact me.
@@ricefieldrecords Thank you.. I just might ! So far I have that big dig on my hands, and again this Sunday ! I should be pulling out another 20 to 25 records out of Bill's garage, again.. Cheers, and nice chatting with you ( I just cooked diner for the family ) !
Yes! This is great!
Thanks, man ! Wanted you to see, going back to Japan in March... records !! I will drop in on your channel from time to time, and I would like to give you a shout-out to folks in the VC and around UA-cam.. ✌️
is that Madonna on the door ?
How far is this store / area from Houston? don 't you wish you were there this week with the Eagles playing the Texans , and the watch party with the Astros playing the Phillies?
2.00 records are good if there not scratched? and are good music example Ac/dc For those about to rock?
why were you not allowed in Shibuya ?
We needed a second vaccine card ( booster ).. we'll go next trip. I think that was Madonna at the door ? Houston is 2 to 3 hours from Dallas, had a 9 hour lay-over, just wanted to eat, and hang out with my family, and visit a Record store !
Yes, there are plenty of good 1 to 2.00 records that aren't scratched. Thanks Mark !
What you were in Tokyo but weren't able to go Shibuya?!
In Haneda Airport.. 2 out of 4 of us needed 2nd vac paperwork.. Two are required but they did not post this until this week ! I really wanted to go record shopping in Shibuya. Oh well.. next trip ! Thanks Recs .
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Yeah next trip. I am also waiting my next trip. You always have to have dream.
Yes.. I mean, no they wouldn't let us in . Needed two booster vaccination cards .. 2 of us had a 2nd shot. and I didn't ! Next time Recs.. Going back in March. . Thanks !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Yeah I understood. Long time it wasn't even open for tourists. Hope to see video clips from your next trip. I keep on dreaming flying there.
@@BadEnglishRecs It's so interesting, and beautiful there.. in March we will stay the night in Shinjuku ( good record stores as well ). then, on the way home to Nevada ! Thailand before Japan for 13 days. We need to go back to get our son's name on our house. See you Rec's !
