This song never fails to make me forget about the whole world or my own personal problems it just brings so much peace and I feel like I can do anything.
This song is Iconic .. I remember when this song debut on MTV every girl at school was talking about how cute he was and having his ear pierced on both sides… I went to the mall and had mine pierced the same way and when I went to school I became so popular and then months later all the guys started to do it too… all because of George Micheal… did you know that George had a crush on Princess Diana so the girl in the video is supposed to be Diana … now I bet you see the resemblance… you should watch WHAM the documentary and you will learn sooooo much of his brilliant mind….
i think we both agree we can expand 1960 -1999 a little bit further from both sides so from 1950 to 2010 (still was fine not that bad), what do u think?!
@@ChilliGOLD88 Nah. I'm sticking to my original comment. Isley Brothers. Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Elton John etc. They can't be beat even up til now.
George has a duet with Sade in the vault. It was intended for his duets albums.😢 I wish it saw the light of day. George is my favorite male singer and Sade is my favorite female singer. I would be in Heaven.
One of the most famous songs in the world ever, and he wrote it when he was only 17 years old, he also produced it and of course sanggggggg it. A musical genius.
“George Michael is a fancy man!” 😆 The Wham! documentary on Netflix is a must watch, highlighting that Careless Whisper was almost modified and George stopped it. Watching his story and incredible talent from 17-23yo was so rad. (Yes, I’m GenX) Best documentary!
There is so many of his songs that are great Theres not even a favorite I have because there’s so many. I love every song he sings. I love hearing his voice anytime.
You guys had me cracking up all the way through this. 😂 So glad we got this sexy saxophone moment, what an under utilised instrument. A while ago I suggested a saxophone week with this as number one, lol, I might need to bring that list back for voting but it’s going to be hard to choose a song to replace this.
A great documentary, which was recently nominated for a BAFTA is the Wham! documentary. You must watch it because it gives you such an insight on the very beginning of George’s career. It is a beautiful story of music and friendship.
The funny thing about George Michael is that he started his career with a Rap in 1982 with Wham. Its called "Wham Rap!" and was a fun but critical song about mass unemployment of young people in 1980s Margaret Thatchers Great Britain. Before they started Wham Andy and George were part of a Ska/Punk band and they looked exactly like the nerds they were, no sex appeal yet..
@@rowanmayfair9249 It was Wham! Rap, which was their first song but it didn't chart the first time. It was about being on the dole. They then released Young Guns which went to No3 after they got a lucky break getting a slot of Top of the Pops when the song was actually just outside the top 40 at that time. Then they re-released Wham! Rap and it got to No8. This is the UK charts I'm talking about.
Yes I remember that too Suzanne. Maybe it was different in the US charts. Not sure what year Wham! really took off in America, but guessing it was around the Careless Whisper time 1984.
You need to watch the watch the Wham! documentary because that’s where they talk about the sax, and how George ended up producing it himself and ditching the Jerry Wexler production. Also talks about how many sax players were auditioning for this song
Hey guys, so I was hoping y'all would do a week 2 for MJB. These videos listed are a bit more storytelling/cinematic. I think you two would enjoy. 1. All That I Can Say 2. Deep Inside 3. Take Me As I Am 4. One ft. U2. 5. Whole Damn Year. All of em are dope. Love the channel btw, been on board with you guys a little over a year now. I always look forward to your reactions to some of our favorite artists. Also, I admire you guys examining of music videos-from fashion, jewelry, locations, etc. Not to mention, y'all are hilarious af frfr. But I hope you guys get around to checking out the list for week 2. Much love & God bless 🙏🏾 🫶🏾🤍 ..
George actually thought this song wasn't that great. He preferred A Different Corner which has been my favorite song, ever, since the release. Stunning. I'm a new sub and it is based solely on the insights you both had about George Michael that I've rarely seen people catch on to. From a life long fan, thank you. You're showing the respect he deserved. Can't wait to watch more of your reactions to George Michael and others you already have up. ❤
For the love of all things, shoulder pads should never come back. In the 80's I would always have to cut them out of clothes. Thanks for the great week!
No mention of the irony here? George Michael was gay IRL, but is portrayed here as a ladies' man. Madeline Andrews-Hodge is the actress who plays the seductress, she passed quite a few years ago but was just the loveliest sweetest person. And oh yeah, this was filmed in Miami, FL.
Love George so much, I could care less if he was gay or straight, it does not influence the music whatsoever. Don’t you know in the 80s it was very much a career killer to come out. That is why you see the videos as they are?.
@@rosemiller2990 That's not the point. I'm just saying there's a lot of irony when you see how things were portrayed 40 years ago in order to maximize the audience and the money.
This song was based on a teenage experience he had. Dig up some of his interviews. He talks about the inspiration for the song.. George was absolutely autobiographical, and if you followed his music, you knew what he was living every time he released a song.
The bridge is SO delicious. "Tonight the music seems so loud, I wish that **KEYBOARD/SYNTH** we could lose this crowd, maybe it's better this way, we'd hurt each other with the things we want to say."
and in this video he didnt look gay, this was how the townie lads looked. He was a what they classed a proper lad at the time. The shock when they find out he loved a bit of the old dad's mate.....shocked them... .Still one frakin sexy sax and song though.........
George Michael was only 17 when he wrote the song. Amazing song, his voice and the saxophone 🔥
He looks sooo good in this music video, he is literally eyebrow goals 😭
It seriously took me 30 years to realize my eyebrow "thing" came from him. They gotta be tight.
It’s a hate crime that Father Figure didn’t make the list.
This song never fails to make me forget about the whole world or my own personal problems it just brings so much peace and I feel like I can do anything.
Everything She Wants is a must see. The video is awesome, and the lyrics are hard core brutal, especially for the times.
I have seen George Michael sing Careless Whisper live twice, once in 1988 and the last time in 2005. Truly magical both times.
We need a second (and a third, …) George Michael week! so many amazing songs!

DAMN princess diana was being crushed on my George micheal AND micheal jackson!
This music is simply one of those masterpiece mainstream songs.
A moment in time. The 60s-90s was such a special era in music. 70s and 80s were the golden eras. I hope great music returns again.

Another singer with a similar vibe Jazz qualities.... Sade - Smooth Operator. Others also as the sultry smooth vibe is hers.

I agree - George is my all time favourite but I just love Sade too. Really hope we get to hear it one day.
George has many more! This is just a drop in the Aegean ocean of George's catalogue of hits! I look forward to another week of George soon!

Hello, I'm new here, now we ABSOLUTLEY need George Michael Week! #2 he has more hits and also a "LIVE" Week!
You must watch the live performance of Careless Whisper shot in China. The sax is gorgeous and his live voice is stunning.
You are right! the video was shot in Miami
Iconic Song and Legendary Artist !

He was only 21 in 1984 and to have written a song like that, is truly amazing. And let’s not forget that he was also the producer on this track.
He actually wrote the song when he was 17 and working at his dad’s restaurant.

The record company refused to release this song first. They just didn't see the potential.
Red silk sheets doesn’t go well with strawberry marshmallow 😂
You were right about Miami - George flew over to Florida to shoot this video.
Listen to Older off his 3rd studio album of the same name! 😊
George wrote this aged 17 on the bus.
