For a few years now I have been watching these videos and thinking I really want that Yellow Castle :D on the shelf and finally I got it this week :P + I do love the old style LEGO boxes to :P I got the box to with the Yellow Castle which is LOVELY + it had a few different types of Castles on the inside of the box that looked really cool :P
The 375 Yellow Castle is my favorite LEGO castle of all! I pieced it together - I had most of the parts to make it already, just needed the 2x2x3 corner slopes (those were hard to find in yellow in 2013 for some reason on BL), the red 1x1x1 windows, and several other random pieces. I bought the parts to build it in gray too just for fun! I'm jealous that you've got the box. Maybe one day I will save up and find one on BL I can afford! Have fun with it!
The red car is actually a breakvan. The observation deck is supposed to look over the rest of the cars to make sure there are no derailments. Also, the bumpiness of your engine is actually a fault of the design. The balance on this loco is very back-heavy, so if you run it too fast, it will skip due to the traction tyres literally lifting the front up. While it may be a crooked axle, almost all 12v axles are bent in some way, so the problem is just the weight distribution. This is made apparent when I put the motor assembly on other 8-wheeled chassis and they have 0 bumpiness, and whatever I put under my 720 ends up jumping. Just don't run it so fast and it'll have no problems.
You might want to check the fitment of that motor and it's gears. It sounds like they're slipping, which either means they're worn, or under too much strain. Maybe the wheels on the carriages need loosening up a bit. I do also remember there were two types of train wheels. Some of them are chamfered like real train wheels to centre them on the track, and others are flat, not chamfered, so free-floating on top of the track. I believe the chamfered ones (more friction) are for the motors and the free floating ones (less friction) are for the carriages.
I have the same set. Got it when i was a child. Nowadays i collect 60-70 Lego trains. Some of them i MOC al little to fit in the Bluetooth powered up sets. I use the old blue tracks mixed with the modern rails. The old 12v Bühler motors are so strong btw.....
You might have bent axles, try turning it upside down and hot wiring the motor pickups for inspection... you could carefully straighten them with a tiny metal tube (but if it's going on a shelf I would just leave it)
Yay! My first train set came in the mail today and I must admit I was always interested but never owned any kind of train, model or lego. Also this purchase was very much part of BrickTsar influencing me :)
Such a cool train. My first lego train was the 4,5 volt locomotive 123.,sane golden pad printed 1x4 brick. I loved this set. A circle with some straight tracks and viola. Keep up the good work. The human malware is around.
Loved, loved, loved the GoPro ride-along footage! For a second it brought a flashback to the trolley ride to and from the Neighborhood of Make-believe on the Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood show. It was also nice to get a view from your perspective as you record your videos. Awesome episode Jaabo!
That was funny, full steam ahead. I really like those old sets, but not so much the blue tracks. Wasn't so easy to get them to stay together as a child.
Love that you match up the train set theme to your Tee, nice work! And of course love the live fixing and rambling video today. I have the 7722 Battery train set and trying to figure out what I'd like to do with it. Couldn't get it to work, suspect there is a little corrosion in the battery box preventing operation. Wish I could test the engine out which I'd bet works. Anyone with ideas would be appreciated for troubleshooting.
If there's corrosion from leaky alkaline batteries on the battery box terminals, vinegar works wonders. Same as using baking soda to clean up car battery terminals, but chemically reversed acid/base.
@@Gerg19 Thanks, I tried vinegar but the hard part was getting in the tight spaces was able to do the cover plate but the contacts it the unit was difficult
My first thought would be the traction tires, they seam awfully thick and may be causing the train to excessively rock forward and back leading to instability. Running it backwards there's more force to counteract that as its shoving itself into the trucks. Could try adding traction tires to all of the wheels.
I have picked up a few from the blue track era but no chance to test run them to date. The train set is easy to build as it is already 'built' in the box.
Resembles a German mountain engine. That car is based on a German bank car-- pretty much a G-wagon with the tower being for some sort of agent to ride along.
#BAT- Jaabo what tips do you have for someone looking to create a lego train set-up for the first time. I have the Disney Train that already comes with some track (which is limited), but I am looking to expand. Thanks!
I just love the way the train sounds. When it's running over the track, i kinda hear badum badum. Lovelly.
I love to see the difference between 721 and 720 and how they run. Great to see the old train!!!
Trains are back... Jabbo found is mojo !!!

The real reason the year 1969 is famous!

4:42 I believe its supposed to be a refrigerated car and that bit that sticks out is the refrigeration system

The colors are sweet 🍬 the train is original!

Love it! Before my time but there's something endearing about the blue track and style of this era.
I love these old LEGO train sets but there pretty pricey no matter where you look for them!!!!

wd40 then contact cleaner or I would just try the contact cleaner first. OR use the wd40 contact cleaner :D

I think you are right. I’ll will try some different things with it

Swap out the inner turn headlight for the correct one.
You should do more duplo vintage

The rubber on one (or more) of the wheels could be on backwards (the rubber could be asymmetrical somehow? I dunno---I've never had a Lego train). ^^
Not the rubbers. But the wheels come in both symmetrical and asymmetrical.
This set came out when my dad was born lol
Did anyone else expect jaabo to be acting like brickitect after that video from earlier?
Nope
Good one Jaabo. Trains are cool. Keep[ up the good work!!!!!
