Very informative video. I just bought the ESATTO for my 14" Edge HD. To install the focuser, did you screw on the adapter ring to the rear cell first, then attach the ESATTO?
Hi Craig. Yes by memory I did. It has been a while since I did it. If I remember correctly there were two or three grub screws which attached the focuser to the adaptor plate. The mirror lock nuts prevented me from attaching it the plate first then screwing it in. It may be different for the 14 inch as the lock nuts are further apart. Enjoy.
Hello Don. I have just come across your excellent UA-cam channel which I am very much enjoying. My main scope is now an Edge 9.25,( Like you, on a EQ6R Pro) to which I have fitted a 2" Esatto. However, I find that with the Celestron OAG ( which requires an adapter either side - 29 mm Back Focus overall ) and the ZWO filter drawer, I am over my 146mm back focus. What is the OAG you are using ? I am also thinking of using a guide scope ( TS Optics AC 80/600) rather than the OAG. Any comments ? Lastly, we are over in Australia in March this year in Perth and then Darwin. Can't wait for Southern Skies ! We live near Edinburgh in Scotland !
Hi Nigel, Nice to hear from you, thanks' for watching my channel. I use the QHY OAG Medium, attached link below. 13mm including the adaptors, in my case M48. I used to guide with an Evostar 72ED 420mm focal length. It was great starting out but it was a lot of guide scope and I found that keeping it perfectly aligned was a problem as I uncounted flexure and drift issues between the two scopes, which would be a constant headache. Once I started using the OAG, it was a game changer for me. The guiding improved significantly and my stars were much easier to keep under control. Not having the extra weight of the guide scope was also a win for me. I only use a guide scope now when I am using my hyperstar. As for the TS Optics AC 80/600, I don't have any personal experience with. I would be concerned regarding weight and the for the issues I had with a scope that was not as large as this one piggy backed on top of my edge HD. Good luck with your March trip. I believe the skies have been much better in the west then they have been here in the east of the country. I hope you have a smaller telescope to travel with LOL 😂. CS Don www.qhyccd.com/qhyoag/
