I just bought a steam press today. I plan to use it for quilting and sewing but I'm definitely going to try for other items. The regular iron is permanently out and in use that might change. 😮😮😮
We have owned these for years, and they are so handy, especially if you have girls that like their clothes pressed. We left our Elna on top of the clothes dryer, and when we pulled items out that were wrinkled the Elna was quick to finish whatever needed attention. I never thought about it being a product of the 70's.
I just bought this exact on in the local hospice charity shop. I loved ironed clothes but never get around to ironing. This thing is amazing! So much faster and better than an iron. We also run Airbnbs and have tons of bedding needing ironing at times in a pinch and this will help. Incredible that it is 50 years old and still works like a charm. I find the uncompromisingly function aesthetic comforting somehow. It has all the charm of a teasmade from the 70;s, so none in other words. And I like that.
The controls are so retro, you don't see that kind of retro controls in things anymore. I have never seen a press like that before, it was nice to see it in action. The video was very calming to watch.
I don't know what it is about this type of video, but I just love them. It's just like sitting and having a natter with an old friend. So, thank you Roger, you're an absolute Godsend in this time of madness💜
I have one. in my basement. very similar Singer. Used it, in the late 90's, to press iron on facing while sewing. Also, to press pants no crease. Great channel. Greetings from New York City. Stay well.👍🏽🗽❤️🇵🇷❤️
My mom had one of these ELNA PRESS. Your video brought back a lot of memories. I remember that it wasn’t that comfortable to use this in summer. The design of the press looks still very modern.
I got an elna press to, mine is from the 80`s and has a sprey on the left handle that you put over the handle. I think as you said when you get the hang of it it is so quick and easy.
I don't know why we started using hand irons after seeing this. It does my head in having to iron around buttons but this does it in one fell swoop! Surely it's quicker, much less frustrating and a better finish, plus you don't need a stupid ironing board.
I enjoyed watching you do your ironing and having a natter! When they demonstrate presses on TV, they never show how to press the yoke of a shirt, I don’t see how it can be done without putting creases in where you don’t want them! I could see one of these machines being useful if you had lots of flat things to iron though (bedding, tablecloths, napkins). Good video - thanks!
Help needed..! My grandparents passed away, a few months ago. We have to empty the house. I found literally the same elnapress in their house. Only the Key is missing... Since my grandmother made her own clothes and used this press very regular (until she got old and sick), I still believe the press will work. Can you please help me with making a spare key? I will repay you. I just can´t throw the press away without knowing for sure it works, so I can use it. I don´t know you will see this message, but I don´t find anything else on the internet to get that key. Greetings
I understand the good at washing but not at putting away! I enjoy watching the Miele do the washing but so bad at ironing the items and putting them away.

I gave these as wedding presents for my "many" nieces. They loved them and bragged about them.

Could watch this all day. Thanks for that
Thanks, now I feel the need to buy something like this, despite never ironing.
😂😂😂
I have one of these. My parents used to be Elna dealers. Swiss made and still going strong.
I sure miss metal appliances!

Hi Rodger,
any news on a review of the new Samsung POWERstick Jet™
Do you know what the little round dents in the iron plate for on this model?
Enjoyed this! I remember these! Where are Daisy and Molly?
Could you do a video of how you do your laundry if possible
How do you iron the shirt at the back of the shoulder ? Why does it make the noise on switching on even though the press is up?
