@@revpgesqredux ok so if they focus on that and miss Bjorn potentially breaking 20 then they messed up. If they miss Leon with the fastest split of all time they messed up. If they miss crooks potentially breaking 19 again they messed up. I get that some people don't want to hear about splits until after, but everyone can already see the race so imo telling us the splits is a nice addition.
@@sscswimmer1 I agree. We can consume the race better if we're watching it and not listening to Rowdy call the race. Him focusing on the splits and big turns are what works best for the viewer.
You could just rewatch the video… Stokowski’s 20.3 split was mentioned as well, and he absolutely meant to talk about liendo there. NC State was not favored to win, this was an upset
if you take all of the fastest splits in history and put them together, you get 1:18.55 👀 Bjorn Seeliger 50 Back: 20.08 Leon Marchand 50 Breast: 22.27 Jordan Crooks 50 Fly: 18.90 Caeleb Dressel 50 Free: 17.30 (I found this from 2018 NCAAs. If he went faster then sure but the time was so ludicrous I left it in anyway.) Of course, the probability of this time being reached at any point soon is quite low, but that just shows the potential of this event.
Eh, not really. there was so much going on during that race, it’s very difficult and challenging to process and say everything that was going on within 1:20 seconds. I thought they did fine except the last few seconds. U guys just find ways to complain about everything. I’ve heard wayyy worse commentating in other sports, this is nothing compared to that
@@timcheng21 Exactly. No swim commentating can be worse than that guy at winter Junior east who literally ignored every race and kept asking coaches and swimmers to come to the awards podium DURING THE RACES.
Perfect example of why they need to find someone else besides Rowdy Gaines to do commentary, he's so focused on the spectacle of records that he forgets to be present in the moment and actually call the race.
Hate how they didn’t mention nc state the entire race
Both Stokowski and korstanja were indeed mentioned... Also hard when each leg is 20s long and you're constantly looking back and forth at the splits.
@@sscswimmer1 excuses. Wolfpack was in lead or near it the whole race and were overlooked. Lame-brained announcing

Was NC State even mentioned besides Korstanje’s split? The other commentator even mistook David Curtiss for Josh Liendo
I don't think he mistook anyone. Liendo was up there in Lane 3 and was, in fact, driving it home. He split an 18.03 and got Florida to finish 3rd.

1:19.99 is possible...
Crazy
funny enough that would be NC States time if you just plugged Marchand into the breast leg. Down to the exact hundredth of a second.

NC state?!!!!!!!!! What the....
This was the worst commentary ive ever heard they were so all over the place 😂
Rowdy per usual, never knowing what’s going on unless it’s Ledecky, or Dressel lol

Pretty sure he is not the play-by-play caller...
Wtf???? 🔥🔥🔥
Upset of the meet already
Holy god

Absolutely atrocious commentating.
Wha?

@matthewpohlman How?

@matthewpohlman You’re saying it was atrocious commenting without being able to back it up. I’m unconvinced
My 200Y medley relay got within 3 seconds of our school record, we hope to get it by the end of the season.
David Curtiss fell off so hard 😂😂😂
Ahhhh Ohio state
