Very moving retelling of those tragic days. A hundred years in time and thousands of miles in space shouldn't stop you from wanting to be there to somehow help them.
I am moved by the "girl" who smiled while playing piano while tears dropped from her eyes onto the keys - this is probably Olga who played the piano the most.
Such a fragile beautiful unique woman who so looked up to her father, and when they hurt and insulted Nicholas it must have been like a dagger in her heart. How could she speak to them!
Maria was the bravest, no doubt. Unfortunately, her brave words to the guards were for nothing, as the heartless mechanical minds back in Moscow had already decided their fate.

"The most eager to talk were the daughters, except Olga."
She also got angry with Marie for being too friendly with the guards. Olga evidently had a great sense of justice. Though she, with her deep insight, understood the revolutionary atmosphere before the end, she didn't condone the communists. I admire and identify with her a lot, she was so much like me in many ways.. But better. :)

The Romanov Royal Martyrs do you think that the 1971 film Nicholas and Alexandra drags Nicholas II and Alexandra through mud and demonizes them and romanizes and white washes the Bolsheviks and The Revolutionaries and tells lies about what really happened being a movie that’s basically Western Propaganda?
( but still a good movie with great acting). Also what are your thoughts on Don Bluth’s Anastasia and think it portrays Nicholas II and the Romanovs in the right way?

It's fascinates me how people think your first statement was for people to momentarily put aside that they were princesses, why would that even be relevant though I completely disagree with the degenerate, violent and flat out evil Communist party the Bolsheviks and the revolution that decimated Russia and killed over 25 to 30 million of their own people before the Communist system fell in the early 1990s. Why should a person have any kind of respect or emotion because someone's title was a princess the fact that they belonged to a family that felt that they were God's anointed hand on Earth should be disgusting to an individual the fact that Czar Nicholas II allowed millions of his subjects to live in abject poverty the fact that he sent millions to their death in world war I don't think you're going to Garner much sympathy for someone based off a title. I can agree with you though that it was saddening and disheartening how their life ended but once again I must point out even these princesses had no concern whatsoever with the daily horrors of the peasants while their father was on the throne

Such a tragedy the former imperial family lost their rightful place and were undeservedly murder by anarchists. But it’s admirable to see them handle their conditions very well and show bravery and strength in the time of death. Russia had a great ruling family why did they had to get rid of them ( Russia not the West).

Indeed he was victim of being a scapegoat for bad things happening in Russia when it was the people framing him who were responsible. Sure he lost the Russo Japanese but he didn’t have any intentions of causing a battle and showed no bloodthirsty. So much of Western Propaganda has painted Nicholas’s reign as having nothing but bad things while leaving the good things out.
Rulers and leaders both have good and bad it just can’t be either all good or bad but that doesn’t mean Nicholas was a bad leader he was a flawed leader and made mistakes any good leader isn’t immune to doing so.

The Russian Imperial Romanov family (Nicholas II of Russia, his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, and their five children: Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei) were shot and bayoneted to death by Bolshevik revolutionaries under Yakov Yurovsky on the orders of the Ural Regional Soviet in Yekaterinburg on the night of 16-17 July 1918. Also murdered that night were members of the imperial entourage who had accompanied them: court physician Eugene Botkin; lady-in-waiting Anna Demidova; footman Alexei Trupp; and head cook Ivan Kharitonov. The bodies were taken to the Koptyaki forest, where they were stripped, buried, and mutilated with grenades to prevent identification. Following the February Revolution in 1917, the Romanovs and their servants had been imprisoned in the Alexander Palace before being moved to Tobolsk, Siberia, in the aftermath of the October Revolution. They were next moved to a house in Yekaterinburg, near the Ural Mountains before their execution in July 1918. The Bolsheviks initially announced only Nicholas's death;for the next eight years, the Soviet leadership maintained a systematic web of misinformation relating to the fate of the family, from claiming in September 1919 that they were murdered by left-wing revolutionaries, to denying outright in April 1922 that they were dead. The Soviets finally acknowledged the murders in 1926 following the publication in France of a 1919 investigation by a White émigré but said that the bodies were destroyed and that Lenin's Cabinet was not responsible. The Soviet cover-up of the murders fuelled rumors of survivors. Various Romanov impostors claimed to be members of the Romanov family, which drew media attention away from activities of Soviet Russia.

I hate that the kids were killed but I don’t have much sympathy for Nicolás and Alexandra they were warned repeatedly to get rid of Rasputin or your gonna lose your crowns they refused listen and this is what happened it’s sad to say but Nicolás marrying Alexandrea as happy as she made him was the beginning of the end of the dynasty.

I still think it.was maria that escaped. She wasn't herself shy or afraid to flirt . She had those alluring SAUCER EYES. Let's keep in mind, these alluring girls were most definitely virgins . There is a story that a guard had brought her a birthday cake. They also still.had alot of priceless jewelry in their possession. Guards were most certainly acoholics . Easily bribed. Perhaps she was pegnant . The basement execution room was so full of smoke ,it wouldn't have been that hard. And they were all very drunk. There maybe a Romanov offspring out there!!!!
