- Vern Gosdin grave.Video made August 15, 2011.I was gonna edit this video and just post Vern's grave only.Instead I belive Vern would have wanted us to see who he is buried near, mostly confederate soliders and war heros.Sorry about the walking with camera pointed to ground. Also see in this video, the Fred Rose grave of Acuff/Rose publishing company.Tommy Flemming is singing the beautiful "Amazing Grace".Thank you Beverly Gosdin Knight for being in Vern's life,he talked about you a lot,I know he loved you very much. RIP my friend, "The Voice"
He never reached the stardom he deserved. He had one of the best voices .in country music. R.I.P. VERN.
I agree
Thank you Vern for sharing your beautiful voice with us all your fans. We miss you so much.
To all Vern Gosdin fans..Thanks for the comments on my video of Vern.I am proud to say that I was friends with Vern for many years.I met Vern through musicians that once played in my band and went on to play with Vern..God bless the Voice,Vern Gosdin..
Thank you Jimmy Gilstrap for a beautiful tribute to the man who deserved his title The Voice.
Thanks, Jimmy Gilstrap. Am a big fan of Vern's. It saddens me that his music got so little praise and recognition. I have been a fan for years and of course was aware of his hits. "Chiseled in Stone" in my mind belongs right up there with "He Stopped Loving Her Today" but I'm learning from watching/listening to his stuff on UA-cam and finally buying his CD's that the man just didn't do a song that wasn't beautiful and often stunning. Simply stunning. He really does belong up there with George Jones with having a very special touch with sad songs. I was just listening to the big UA-cam mix of his music and was wondering where he is buried and found this. I knew he lived in/near Ardmore for years (and since I lived in Huntsville I always hoped I'd get to hear him sing) so thought he might be buried there. Now that I live in Nashville I look forward to getting out to Mt. Olivet and visiting the gravesite of this amazing talent.
Do you know, was there ever a book written about him? He seems like such a private person that I'm guessing not.
Thanks again for posting this.
His voice will never be forgotten, ty for the beautiful video
Vern never cared about stardom or getting any praise.he loved music.and I'll never quit listening to him thanks Vern for all the music and memories .

This piece if beautiful. I lost my only beautiful young daughter not long ago in the prime of her life, blond hair, blue eyes and smiling constantly. As the tears run this worn face I can not help but smile for the gift of music lets us magically be there with her once again.
Jerry n,your daughter is not lost, she just went home and is waiting to see her father again,I feel right now she is telling me to let you know that..Thank you for your nice comments..
This man was overlooked for his music God bless you Vern and rest in peace.
One of the Greatest Ever!!!!
1989 I was heading overseas had a couple hours to kill ... So me and my dad went to a little country bar restaurant on music row there in Nashville ...Dad was Station at Ft . Campbell he left work early to get me to airport my leave was ending (marine)....we sat down both of us in uniform next to a man dad next to me and this man next to me ...we talked for about a hour or so he shook my hand thanked me and my dad bought our drinks and signed a napkin and left it next to me and left ... dad asked me what it said and I said Vertn Gosdin ...Bartender ask if I knew who that was ...I said know 18 I was into rock Motely Crew Judas Priest .. the Bartender said he was a famous country music star but I had no clue ...we went and bought a tape of verns and I listen to it all the way to Japan...Thank You Vern ..I have all your CDs today...I did see you one other time late 90s
Same thing here ..he signed a napkin at a place where I worked in 1995..at a Waffle House in Kingsport TN....Just passing by..on his way back to Nashville..sad to say I lost the napkin in a house fire..love the silk jacket he had on Nashville Tennesse on the back...kept his hands in his pockets most all the time ..except just to sign the napkin..sweet man..loved him and his music and still do ..miss him...R.I.P. A wonderful tribute to a great singer! Thank you for posting this.
Jimmy this is a good knowit is a excellent video my friend .... my parents are buried over from Vern Gosdin's grave at Mount Olivet so it just isn't a confederate soldiers and other music artist and dignitaries cemetery .Though i think my daddy and momma would fit right up there with hero's for certain in my eyes . Great job again on the video .I visit Vern's grave everytime i visit my momma & daddy's graves
Thanks, Vern is still awesome!!

A very fitting tribute to one very humble but superb country singer-songwriter. His music will live on for all to enjoy as I have done. RIP Vernon. Thank you so much for your contribution. Kiwi fan.

May You rest in peace.Thank you for all your great songs. Now he is probably having a jam session with all the greats and they are glad too have him with them.
How I would be honored too hear them all together.
Thanks Jimmy, I fell in love with Vern's music while working at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. He lived nearby in Ardmore. Ironically, I got divorced after learning his music and If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong, Do it Right was written for me.
George,You and just about every divorced man feels the same as you do about the song "If You're Gonna Do Me Wrong,Do It Right.lol Vern would have laughed at your post.Vern was a close friend of mine.I miss him.
The song is exactly what happened to me, new car and all.
George Markos It is Tommy Flemming singing.
While listing to some of his songs I ran into this. The MT. Olivet cemetery had me wondering until I looked good. I have a wife and daughter buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery but it's in Denver, Colorado.
This is the most moving Tribute i have ever saw, by far!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Danny.
Thank God we’ll always have part of Vern with us in his recordings. I didn’t know him personally but it sounds like he was a wonderful, humble person, it makes me wish I could have known him. Regardless, I’ll always love him and his music.
Thank you for this. Loved this man since 1968. I was 19 years old. Never stopped
AS far as I (TERRY ALLEN ) am concerned Mr.Vern was the voice of Country and Gospel music and it is a great pleasure to play bass guitar with Vern's peddle steel player Mr.Johnny Miller.
I miss my buddy so so much I love you Vern !
Beautiful voice♥️, will always be one of my favorites. Rip🙏🏻🕊♥️🇺🇸
Nice ...I have family buried there as well !!!!! and I believe there is a plot for me as well Luke Lea
It's a shame that this man was not introduced in the Country Music Hall of Fame for the great music that he had all the people that are in country music should be a shame for themselves.
I sang with vern gosdin and we loved one another . I will see him again.
Vern was my favorite singer. I listen to his music every day. His music will live on as long as good country music is appreciated.

curtis
these songs that this man sung could put ones self into the words of ny he sang coming from the country his voice was awesome
Made me Cry!!!!
How ironic this is. I am now 74, but have enjoyed country music and a number of tremendous vocalists since I was a teenager back in the 1960s. Since that time I have collected such a number of albums, cassettes, and CDs - so many in fact that I have lost count. One vocalist I heard on just a few occasions was Vern Gosdin, but had none of his recordings. Just recently I got onto UA-cam and decided to check out several of his songs. Well, one song led to another, which led to another, which led to another - - (you have the picture). This led to my purchasing some of his CDs and wanting to hear more and more. What a distinct style and voice! Add to this the terrific songs that he sang. I just shook my head and asked myself why I had never listened to him more over the years. I see now why Vern is "The Voice." I am saddened that I never got to see or listen to him in person. What saddens me even more is knowing that a singer such as Vern has never been given the exposure and recognition he so rightfully deserved. Thanks so much for sharing this video, for it reminds me that too often in life the best yet goes unknown until "Chiseled in Stone." Again, Jimmy, thank-you!
To quote a previous commenter, "All of Nashville's talent is in the Ground.
I visited Vern's gravesite last year. His music is heard in my house everyday. Thanks so much for your video....
