    Jason, you're a true professional for being able to keep a straight face while tongue-in-cheeking Uranus' vibes.
    Well done! :) haha

    First, i wanna thank you so much. I live in Turkey and my English is not that good but even with that, i can UNDERSTAND what is your explaining. I search the same video in Turkish language and i found LOTS OF videos about it in my main language. But these videos have 5 minutes long. If you are not genius or something you can't fully understand a topic like that in five minutes. That's how it should be to teach something to someone. Again, thank you so much.

    I have been studying calculus as a hobby for a few months now and I knew that velocity was a vector quantity which means magnitude a number and vector a direction but did not understand It because I didn’t understand direction but when he talks about direction of a rocket taking off at a specific angle theta light bulb went on. So to know the direction of a curve at any moment, we know the velocity at any moment. This instantaneous velocity is determined by the slope of the tangent line he we get by taking the derivative of the curve function.

    I’m a little sad I’m 54 and just now absorbed the fundamentals of scalars and vectors, after years of (struggling with) math, calculus and physics classes. I remember having troubles with my intuitive understanding of vectors as a kid, and it really hampered my understanding of what I was doing in subsequent courses, and all it took was a 1-d demonstration on a simple number line to reinforce the concept. My life would have been much different with Jason’s teaching methods, and I had some pretty decent teachers.

    If I understood well , an object goes to the moon n comes back to the same point on earth. The velocity is zero .
    Thanks for the video.

    • @MathAndScience
      @MathAndScience  2 роки тому +6

      You got it! It seems weird at first, but actually makes sense. Velocity is a measure over the whole trip from start to end including direction so if you start and end in the same place, then from a total trip point of view you’ve done nothing and that’s why the average velocity is zero.

    Why is there a temperature in space if there is no air there then? :)

    • @ronjon7942
      @ronjon7942 Рік тому

      There is plasma, dust, molecules and atoms, and gas in space, with temperature being a measurement of the motion of those particles. You’re correct in thinking there would be no temperature in a perfect vacuum, but there is no perfect vacuum, even in interstellar space.
      Edit - oh crap, sorry, you knew this - I didn’t notice your smiley when I started thinking out loud. 😮

    I would like to be able to run 5 meters per second! That's almost 3 full leg movements per second...that's fast! Cheetah can run 70 MPH but only for a short distance. A bear is what will fool you...they look fat and slow but they can run up to around 30 MPH and can climb trees!
