I've heard this video at least 20 times and every time I love it even more. Her sound is wonderful, so clean and pure, and full of passion. She is awesome, no words to describe it better. Could burst into tears listening to her sing like that.
I heard this for the first time on a crisp, vividly clear fall morning, with the driver's window down. I was transported on every phrase of the music and lyric. Her voice seemed to be offered as a prayer in praise of that morning. I instantly became a fan and purchased the CD that very same day.
Ethereal Rendition of Ave Maria. It's so Heavenly that it heals my soul every time I listened to this. She has absolutely the very best version of this masterpiece 🎶🎵🎼. Sending Love to you Inessa Galante ❤️❤️❤️
Heavenly. Taivaasta... Unglaublich schön... I heard her singing in Riga 20 years ago in the church a concertwith Ave Marias. I will never frorget her sound...
She's been a favorite of mine for more than 10 years. Certainly when it comes to the Italian repertoire, I think she's absolutely tops. Perhaps she's happy with her present exposure to the world. But given how much promotion and self-promotiion goes on through internet and youtube, I do wish for the sake of culture and for bringing sheer joyful beauty to the world that she was much more widely known.
I agree....She is so Awesome. However i can see that her live version has a gap compared to the Recording.... If it was just a little bit closer i think she would be one of the Greats...... Her strength is her Emotion & the different Colours of her voice. So maybe she still should be a great .....Ineed to see more than one Song... But im a fan just on this Performance .........
OK,,,,,,,THE RECORDING WAS IN 95 & THE EARLIEST LIVE ONE I HAVE SEEN IS AROUND 2007.. SO SHE WAS 42 IN 95 ... SHE WAS 54 IN 2007 ... SO HER VOICE WAS AT LEAST BETTER AT 42. BYE HOW MUCH LIVE I DO NOT KNOW ...
I hope this audience appreciated the amazing talent who performed this (almost) forgotten piece of music! This soprano's "Debut" CD is worth searching out. Not only does she perform this "Ave Maria" flawlessly, she also masters "Casta Diva," and "Panis Angelicus." Ms. Galante NAILS a list of other great and and challenging "war horses" of the classical and operatic rep accompanied by the Latvian National Symphony. BRAVA! I am puzzled that Ms. Galante isn't a BIG star by now!
Angelic voice and a fantastic woman. She is great in everything - recordings, concerts, on stage... it's a shame the major houses like ROH, Met, Scala have never engaged her. Others like Sumi Jo may have good voices and technique but this woman sings with her heart and soul and none of these others can come even close to her charisma
Such a glorious voice particularly in this piece. Only heard her live once..fortunately singing this...why oh why an't she sing in the UK more....una voce divina
wow!! when i saw the comments on sumi jo's ave maria i thought that it was impossible to have a better version then hers but this one is AMAZING!!!! Thanks so much for posting this!!!!
Note that this version of Ave Maria was written/composed by the 20th century Russian composer, Vladimir Vavilov (b. 1925) and not by the early renaissance Italian composer, G. Cuccini. For some mysterious reason, Vavilov often attributed his own works to earlier (and mostly unknown) writers. There is also an orchestral version of this by the opera singer, Inessa Galante, who is spectacular.
The best version in my view was recorded by Irina Arkhipova (who was the first person to ever record this). Vavilov was doing that for a simple reason. He thought that no one would ever perform arias written by himself (he was never well known and died unknown too), and since he wrote that this aria was written by Caccini, the greatest Russian opera singer, Irina Arkhipova, recorded it and made it world famous. Many other recordings followed.
this is the original and high key, sung by the shockingly great galante. there is no recording anywhere greater than hers. the music however is not really available for purchase. you'll have to transcribe it yourself, unless things have changed in three years.
@albafango When you hear someone as good as she is, you want her to be famous like Andrea Bocelli, but some artists don't want that, or they have the wrong manager, who knows. She performs in mainland Europe (Holland) regularly, it seems, so she is known there. At a glance I cannot even see her own web-site with advertised performances, which is a must if you want to be better known...
An inspirational version of Ave Maria is the opus by Vladimir Vavilov and not Caccini. Yes Caccini, had an influence on Vavilov, but world should recognized Russian composer’s piece of music. Galante’s beautiful voice with pure emotions transferred into sound and brings out the best in it.
Pavarotti use to handle a white piece of cloth while singing but I never heard any one saying it was distracting. When you sing that good you could be doing flip-flops and still sound great!
Its not interpretation Ave Maria - it is the original version - her author - composer Vladimir Vavilov. Bocheli's more widespread version is an interpretation.
In 1970 Vladimir Vavilov recorded a record lute music, attributed to various authors, including works which meant "Chanson", attributed them to the composer Francesco da Milano and later became the music of the famous song "Paradise" ( "City of Gold"). According to investigators, the true author of the "Chanson", "Ave Maria" (attributed to Giulio Caccini) and other pieces on the plate was himself Vavilov
@Milkychocolate721 The research that I have done on it seems not to support it. Yes it is the circle of fiths over and over again (like the popular song "I will survive"). But every composer that has used the "Ave Maria" words tend to use the rest of the text instead of just the first 2 words. I will GLADLY bow my head humbly if you can show me where you saw the evidence of his hand in this composition and trust me I will spread the word.
Best I ever heard was by a nameless singer in a sunday service in a tiny chapel on lake como (she was a member of the La scala chorus!) She had seemless control of the dynamic throughout all the tricky shifts of register. Very difficult to sing well.
The Republic of Latvia, one of the three Baltic countries that got their independence after the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991. The Riga Opera is well known.
Inessa does a wonderful job with Ave Maria here but I believe Sumi Jo's interpretation of it is simply the best that there is. Check it out! Its titled "Sumi Jo sings 'Ave Maria' by Caccini." Enjoy.
Masterpiece!! She gives another dimension to this heavenly music! ❤️♥️❤️
Inessa is so great!!Its a pity she is not as known as some other singers .. she is so talented..

The best version. Surpassed by none.
Inessa Galante .
Ethereal Rendition of Ave Maria. It's so Heavenly that it heals my soul every time I listened to this. She has absolutely the very best version of this masterpiece 🎶🎵🎼. Sending Love to you Inessa Galante ❤️❤️❤️
A glorious Voice, don't know why she is not more popular
Today I heard Inessa Galante sing this piece live at a recital in Giresta Church, Sweden. It was truly breathtaking. What a voice, what carisma!
Heavenly. Taivaasta...

Very ellegant and high tech vocal use;I will love to see her in the operatic roles.Bravaaa!!!!!!
I think that is the most beautiful vocal I have ever heard!
What a voice ! She touches my heart, my soul, my everything !
Agree
I can't imagine anything more beautiful!
best ever a soprano singer for Caccini Ave Maria!!
Such is the sound of angels when they sing to the Queen of Heaven and Earth !!!
Her voice is very beautiful
Perfect!
@rijahaa certainly so. I heard this rendition of Ave 6 years ago, one month after my mother died. Still can bring me to tears. Bravo Inessa

Inessa , you sing like an angel !
Who cares who wrote it. It's simply ... beautiful. (Beautiful almost seems inadequate.).
a truly great singer, can't understand why she was never invited to sing at the Met.
Magnificent!💒

Gratitiude Magnifique ! Voix divine .
SOO MOVING, BRILLIANT!
Caccini or Vladimir who composed it, They wouldf both agree that this rendition by Inessa is just lovely.
What a beautiful voice, love it.
Beautiful
Excelente!
We had this as the first song at our wedding. Beautiful.
Sublime ..celestiale...
The author - composer of this music is Vladimir Vavilov!!!!!! Not Caccini
But Caccini is the second name of Vavilov.
Awesome and inspiring
Sublime voix,inessa🎧🇫🇷😎
So beautiful...
Amazing. Stunning.

Excellent!!!
brilliant voice
Yes, it is
awesome- sehr berührend
@baroquegeek This piece is by Caccini. Many artist have had it arranged with a few changes but it is Caccini through and through.
Pavarotti use to handle a white piece of cloth while singing but I never heard any one saying it was distracting. When you sing that good you could be doing flip-flops and still sound great!
Amazing her voice like Maria Callas
Its not interpretation Ave Maria - it is the original version - her author - composer Vladimir Vavilov. Bocheli's more widespread version is an interpretation.
DIVIN........ Sublime ...

She is Latvian! She is wonderful!

Brilliant!

Can't believe she has not been invited to sing at the Met
Superb!!
Fantástica, genial. Compostela23.Mexico,d.f.

Astonishing
This song has the same chord progression as FLY ME TO THE MOON by Bart Howard.
It was composed by Vladimir Vavilov in the mid 1970s. In order to record his works he had to ascribe them to Italian composers..
WHere is she from?
letonia
Thanks.

Soviet Union.
hauntingly beautiful composition ~
hauntingly beautiful voice ~
may you be haunted ~ by my big THANKS for sharing it :o)
@TheDinikin Thank you. I had one person try to argue with me that it was a long lost sacred piece from Caccini.
Inessa does a wonderful job with Ave Maria here but I believe Sumi Jo's interpretation of it is simply the best that there is. Check it out! Its titled "Sumi Jo sings 'Ave Maria' by Caccini." Enjoy.
Her voice makes my body clock stop!
Where is her Ave with organ accompanyment?? The best!!
to the person posting: did the piece just write itself? don't you think you should put the composer's name on the posting?
sublime !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
