Great reaction! Light and Darkness has only been performed twice, and is probably one of the most difficult songs to sing, even for SU-METAL. Night Night Burn is a fun song with hidden word play in Japanese. It was performed in Barcelona and Madrid last year.
Babymetal are great at doing songs with ethnic flare to them, "Night Night Burn"certainly has a Latin flare to it, other songs that they have done with a ethnic feel are "Shanti Shanti Shanti" with it's Indian flavour, Metalizim with a very Arabian feel, "Oh! Majinai" featuring Joakim Brodén the lead singer of Sabaton that has a Eastern European /Celtic/Scandinavian folk dance, "Meto Taro" Viking Metal... I don't know of any other group that can mix Metal, J pop and ethnic music like Babymetal does .
Light and Darkness has only been performed live three times, and I'm fortunate that I was there to see all three of them live, including this one. The PIA Arena show was called "Babymetal Begins: The Other One - Black Night & Clear Night". Like most of the big Babymetal shows, it was a two night performance, with each night being different a different setlist and different lore videos. Night #1 was Black Night, which was Momoko's last night as an Avenger and the last night they wore the old 10 Babymetal Budokan outfits. It was promoted as the night the mysteries of the Black Box (which was part of The Other One Restoration Project lore) would be revealed. This show featured a mixture of classic fan favourites like Megitsune, Gimme Chocolate, and Karate, as well as premiere performances of new songs from The Other One including Maya, MIrror Mirror, and Believing. The finale of the show was the announcement of the new Babymetal lineup with Su-metal, Moametal, and Momometal, the reveal of their new outfits, the revised band logo, as well as a performance of the rarely played Shin version of Babymetal Death (probably the heaviest track in Babymetal's entire catalogue). Night #2 was Clear Night, which was labeled as the night that all the mysteries would become clear. This was the night that Momometal debuted as a full member of Babymetal with a microphone and doing vocals, as well as the debut of their new outfits that they would wear throughout the 2023 world tour. Like the first night, it was a mixture of old and new songs, but they played some different ones to the previous night, including Light and Darkness, which they played for the third and to date last time. Over the course of the two nights, they performed the entirety of The Other One album, with many of the performances being live premieres. They also played the Iine (with two i's) live for the first time in six years, to the complete surprise of everyone in attendance. Looking back on what took place, it's probably one of the most important Babymetal shows in a long time and it's clear that they went all out to make it as spectacular and memorable as possible, and I feel really fortunate to have been able to be there to see it in person. PIA Arena is a smaller venue than most of the ones that Babymetal typically plays in Japan, with a capacity of only 12,000, so it was a very difficult show to get tickets to even for fan club members.
Wow thanks for your amazing insights! That is very cool that you were able to attend the Pia Arena show! It seems like a highly important show for Babymetal and was truly impressive 😁🤟🦊
Baby Metal used classic Afro-Cuban rhythms for the base of this song in the mambo-style made famous by Tito Puente, Machito, Eddie Palmieri and Mongo Santamaria. So what you end up with is Japanese metal-mambo dance music accented with Baby Metal's stellar choreography. They brought the house down when they played this in Barcelona and Madrid in their 2023 European tour.
My favorite babymetal song based on albums: 1st Album (Babymetal) : No Rain No Rainbow 2nd Album (Metal Resistance) : Syncopation 3rd Album (Metal Galaxy) : Starlight 1st Concept Album (The Other One) : Monochrome
@@NickTesla-le8kh Correct! Su wasn't happy with her performance in this song because she was more focused on hitting the right notes than in conveying the emotions. So, they left it out their first album (they premiered it in Legend 1999 in 2013). And that was also the reason they didn't perform it much. BUT she finally killed it in Legend-S, hands down! 😀👍
Honestly after watching SU singing Light and Darkness live it’s unreal how she sings, like damn... Do you hear that dynamics!? Lol & the song is actually so deep, she really conveys a lot of the atmosphere of the song & its lyrics, without SU’s singing it wouldn't hit the same.
she is the singer who can best convey the content of the song correctly, both from his body movements and vocal dynamics. She his often done this in previous and subsequent songs such as amore, NRNR, akatsuki un/fin, RON, monochrome un/fin and the legend and I once heard his sing an acapella headbanger in one of the videos uploaded by fans. and ROR when she was checking the sound at their concert before it started.
