Hi everybody! Today Chad is sharing one of his favorite Christmas memories from his childhood and Linda called at the perfect time! It could not have been better.
I think that Linda had become “Aunt Linda” to ALL of us!! She’s easy to love, and I think we all feel a bit protective of her, too. What a sweet soul she is! I love how good you all take care of her, seeing that her needs are met, and making sure she is always included in family get togethers/holidays. She is just as precious as she can be! 💖
Linda is a true blessing to your entire family. It’s wonderful for your grandchildren to have so many memories of/ with her

When I was a child I had a second cousin that had downs syndrome and I always felt bad for the family. Then I grew up and went to high school with a girl that had downs and I realized what a wonderful feeling you had when she was around. Then I worked with disabled children and I was able to work with a down syndrome boy and he always made my day happy no matter what was happening at home. I found out it's not sad for the family it was a blessing!! I think only the luckiest and blessed family has the disabled children. They get shown what true and holy love is. I think one day when she passes Aunt Linda will be shown how she changed the world!!

I love listening to your stories of your childhood and what it was like growing up. I am slightly older and live halfway across the world but I can still relate to some of your experiences. We had a large family of 6 kids growing up and money was very tight. We mostly got clothes and school supplies at xmas. We did get a couple of very cheap toys that broke very quick. It was the only time we ever got new clothes so we looked forward to it. Mostly we were excited for the big family dinner and the snacks. My mother would bake cakes and a Christmas pudding with silver coins in it. We would have candy, nuts and all the fresh fruits of the season ( it’s summer here in December). I loved the fresh fruits. We would have soda to drink, we never had it any other time. We always visited our neighbors and stayed for a treat at every house. All us kiddos would play in the street and show off our new toys. For me, the best memories are about community and family.
It sounds like you had a wonderful childhood that money can not buy. Thanks for sharing.

Aunt Linda is a gem. She brings joy to everyone. I laughed at her on Thanksgiving Day, holding the baby the way she was, but she had her tight against her and the baby did not seem to mind. Joel seems to just thrive on being around her. He gets such a kick out of things she says. My biggest memory as a child at Christmas when my sister and I still were not sure about Santa, was how we sort of searched around the house. At that time, she and I shared a bed and on Christmas eve, we were so excited and giggly and could not get to sleep when we heard someone creeping up the stairs, so we immediately pretended we were sleeping. Our mother came in and got on the floor and was pulling boxes from under our bed and did not see that we were peeking. When she was done, we were very still but could see the boxes stacked up as she was making her first trip downstairs. My sister asked for Majorette Boots and I wanted a dolly with hair. When mom was done, we whispered to each other that we got what we asked for. A great place to hide gifts, under your child's own own bed. We laugh to this day about that and we are in our late 70's. Sorry this is so long, but I just had to share.
