    I recently got one and I love it - esp for photos of multiple people I find myself always going to it instead of my 50mm

      A really astonishing lens, that offers unexpected possibilities, isn't it!?

    so for my 80d i need to get the 24mm pancake lens 55-250 lens the 10-18 lens i already have the 50mm 1.8 and get the 24-105 and the 24-70? or just get lenses for 80d and not use full frame lenses on a aps-c crop sensor camera

      Any lens named 'EF-S..' is specially for APS-C-sensor (the image circle is not big enough for fullframe). But you can use ANY lens named 'EF' with your 80D. Because of that: Feel free to choose ANY lens you like - with EF-connection (as well as EF-S) from Canon or third-party.

      @@gerhardochsenfeld9588 i bought the 16-35 L series lens and the 50mm 1.8 but now i wanted to get a good all around lens that i can shoot everything i need with one lens without having to keep chaning my lens. but the 17-55 and the 18-135 and the 55-250 sounds like that's all i need. i'll buy a full frame camera one day but not right now i need to learn this 80d and be a pro at this photography thing

      @@crayshaunhenderson1265 Well, at first sight I find an affinity to shorter focal lengths. So I'd recommmend EF-S 15-85 mm. With an equivalent of 24-135 mm (fullframe) that lens is a big and not light-weighted but wide allrounder. Picture quality is o.k. for an allrounder and zoom lens.

    If a guy wants to buy this lens for his first prime lens, would you suggest it?
    Price similar with 50mm stm. I am confused about it.

      Depends on what U prefer! 24 mm is an equivalent of nearly 40 mm fullframe, 50 mm is an equivalent of a short 80-mm-tele, when mounted on APS-C-camera. Two VERY different ways to take photos. If you want to have an allrounder, take the 24 mm. If you have an affinity for short tele (e. g. prefering portraiture with short tele), then choose the 50 mm. The point is not the price - but YOUR main focus.

    Can you tell me how well this will work if I want to take night sky pictures?

    • @gerhardochsenfeld9588
      @gerhardochsenfeld9588  7 років тому +1

      I did try to do a test. Clear but humid summer nights do not offer best conditions. I don’t find conditions similar to those, when I did my test shots with Samyang 10 mm F2.8 and 16 mm F2.0 in winter.
      Not depending on this tests: I think that you need a lens sharper than the EF-S 24 mm STM to photograph the starry sky. The EF-S 24 mm STM is better than we could expect - but not good enough to serve a so special use as to photograph the night sky.
      For average use the EF-S 24 mm STM is better than average. But it is not a specialist, if a really excellent sharpness is neccessary.

    Can this 24 mm lens use with canon full frame camera???

    • @gerhardochsenfeld9588
      @gerhardochsenfeld9588  4 роки тому +1

      No, it is an only APS-C lens ! If you like a lens like that for your full frame: there's a 40 mm STM lens. Same very ligh wide angle as the 24 mm on APS-C (= 38 mm full-frame-equivalent).

  • @justspaztik

    I disagree. It’s sharper than the kit lens.

    • @gerhardochsenfeld9588
      @gerhardochsenfeld9588  4 роки тому

      Well, maybe I agree with you! - I think that „kit lens“ will be one of the 18-55 mm’s. I decided NOT to buy a kit lens while I did not trust in it. I bought the 15-85 mm - because of it’s wider range and really in hope of more sharpness. I’m more or less disappointed. As you can see at min 3:05 following in this vid: This really not cheep EF-S 15-85 mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS USM is an often blaming Canon tool with absolutely disappointing unsharpness not only in the edges but simply out of the center!
      My references of sharpness are: Samyang 2.0/16 mm ED AS UMC CS and Canon EF 35 mm 1:2 IS USM. You can find vids about both of this lenses in my channel.

      The problem not in the voice. The problem is in microphone. Try several models to find best one for your voice type :)
