    Came here because I watched a wood pecker slam his head on a tree for twenty minutes. I wanted to know how they can take the punishment.

      Even if you’re trying to be anti-religion this is... completely false from a scientific point of view. Woodpeckers didn’t just appear out of nowhere, they branched from another bird probably millions of years ago finding an evolutionary niche of boring holes into wood to get harder to reach insects and evolved accordingly. Please do your research before commenting, and also respect people’s religions. It doesn’t make you cool or edgy, it just makes you look like a prick. You sound dumb to both religious people and evolutionists alike.

      @@lambybunny7173 lmao don’t get so mad it’s ok. And yes they did according to Darwin’s theory of evolution. What you described was micro evolution which I’m all for I agree but Darwin’s theory is that a single cell somehow found a way to evolve into a fully grown man lol apparently we were fish at one time. At least with the Bible it explains where everything comes from. Also I didn’t call anyone names and yet I’m the disrespectful one? Lol ok buddy

    Saying the force is the same as a car hitting the wall is misleading. Yes, the deceleration of the woodpeckers head is much higher than the deceleration of the overall car. But the moving car contains hundreds of times more energy, and the impact of the car hitting the wall is going to leading to metal striking metal, and other subsequent impacts, which will technically have a much higher force.

    • @anonymousfolk2000
      @anonymousfolk2000 4 роки тому +2

      Well pressure=force/area. So if area of the applied force decreases then pressure would increase for the same amount of force compared with a larger area of application. So, all that matter is the pressure.

    Fascinating and informative. I don’t quite follow the argument about CSF. Lower relative volume of CSF would lessen the cushioning by CSF (except in less common contra-coup injuries). This would be detrimental to the bird.
