I dont quite understand, Mumbai for all being the most GDP producing city with Uber rich men on the planet cannot even maintain the streets spotlessly . Tier 2 cities and other smaller metropolis in India maintain their roads much better. Greenery is the only saving grace. The road side infra structure is an absolute disgrace and the BBMP should be ashamed of itself for doing such a shady job. Mumbai needs a proper wash up.
Mumbaikars dont get offended as I am from Delhi but most people will agree that if we set aside the property prices of the malabar hill and some greenery there is nothing good about this area . If you compare this with lutyens delhi which is also most expensive areas in country. You will shock that how planned it is made.
It’s not about getting offended. Lutyens zone of Delhi is undoubtedly the best built area of whole India. The wide roads, proper lane marking, LOT of greenery, HUGE Mansions, Beautiful and big sidewalks, Parks, monuments, etc, everything is preen and proper there. It was built by the British as per European standards to show off their power. I’ve lived in Europe and I feel that Lutyens zone can easily match and even surpass the European level infrastructure in some cases.
Also Lutyens has very high property prices as well, almost close to Malabar Hill prices.
But consider the fact that two-third of Lutyens area is occupied by govt and govt officials, so that leaves little area for public.

Lutyens is an amazing place....been there but Bombay crowd is different ( I'm not talking about slums). Sobo is a different feeling.

Mumbai really needs to work on cleanliness and maintenance, it never looks good to see rusty and old looking buildings in between modern and new buildings

Its the greatness of Marathis that they allowed Mumbai being cosmopolitan and hence its the Financial Capital of our country. I do acknowledge that in most rich areas, Gujaratis (both Hindus and Jains) live in majority cuz we have business in our blood but that doesn't mean Marathis have nothing to do with Mumbai. Marathis are the pride of Mumbai and their culture is rich and amazing.
