VPN services can be offered based on two major models:
Overlay model
in which the service provider provides virtual point-to-point links between customer sites
Frame relay , ATM, X.25, Ipsec, GRE
Peer-to-peer model
in which the service provider participates in the customer routing

Hi, just wanted to know where the L2VPN based on MPLS comes into picture ? I mean services like VPLS, VPWS services ? Are those part of Overlay - though it will use the IP/MPLS in core network ? You have mentioned Frame-relay, ATM, X.25 in Layer 2 VPN, I believe Ethernet will also be in the same domain. Is my understanding correct ?
