Surprising how few GMC Terrains I see around town. The AT4 trim package may be just the magic to make the Terrain visible to buyers. Nice "soft-road" trail review, TK!
GMC advertises the ground clearance on the AT4 as 7.9”. Those tires loaded up pretty quickly in the mud. I have a 2020 Terrain SLT with the 2.0 litre turbo and its got 252 horsepower and has very decent acceleration and reasonably good fuel economy (7.7 L/100kms) which I think is good. I don’t take mine anywhere close to off road. Generally speaking, I like my car.
I think it's a pretty decent vehicle. I'm considering getting one in the coming year. I have no plans on doing any off roading, but for a guy like me who goes out camping a lot, hitting the beach and plans on getting a big dog very soon, I think this GMC would fit my lifestyle. Great video lads.
Same. It looks decent. I have a jeep for when I go off road. I need something under 60k with three rows and some extra room for a bigger dog and camping or beach stuff. And everything in this segment looks like a Highlander. Only dipshits take their daily driver wheeling.
A skid plate is one of the most important upgrades for any vehicle going off pavement, so that’s a nice touch. Gotta keep that oil pan away from rocks. Other than that, I don’t see much to get excited about. I don’t think too many buyers in this segment have “excitement” high on their list though.
I had the opportunity of renting one for a week in British Columbia a couple of weeks ago. We lived with it for a week. Drove all through Vancouver, Mission, Richmond, Burnaby, Squamish, and Whistler. It was a mountain and Trail climbing trip. We got the vehicle by mistake from the rental company as they did not have any smaller Vehicles available. Rental cars are hard to come by out west. We are from Ontario. My wife's family are GM retirees. I've never bought a GM product in my life. I have to say, after spending a week with that little truck it grew on me. Nice style, easy to get in and out of, very comfortable on the highway and handled a little bit of gear without complaints. Fuel economy was decent. I think people buy these trucks as an alternative to buying CRV and RAVs. It's like buying a used Tacoma pickup. After some price gouging you might as well buy a new one. The Market's a funny place. One could buy a new terrain for the price of a two or three-year-old Honda or Toyota. Have fresh warranty from the get-go, a stylish vehicle to drive around in with some good features. Sure it might be a tad less on the refinement, and there could be better cute utes that can handle a little bit more Trail activity, but let's be real here. People buy them for status symbols and not truly use them for their potential. Those folks end up buying something completely different and we all know what those are. Let's not be too hard on the terrain. General Motors is closing the gap. That's a step in the right direction.
Rav4 and terrain are the same price for the base model. Terrain has heavier doors and it is beefier than the rav4. Rav4 has a naturally aspirated engine which will in fact last longer than GMs little turbo engine before it fails. Rav4 is lighter and more mechanically simplistic than the terrain. This is all coming from a GM lover, they crapped the bed with making these have a forced induction, turbo charged engine. The engine choice GM went with on these will be a catastrophe when these cars are 10years old on the used lot with 100k miles and poor service history.
We have a 2015 equinox AWD and I can't say enough about it. For the wife it's perfect. I hated this thing for so long but grew to love it. Took it from Minnesota to Florida and the lie meter said I got 34 mpg through Illinois🤷♂️
Illinois tends to do that to all MPG gauges😂 my 2015 gmc terrain denali has gotten 32 mpg (hand calculated at the pump) on a long trip but I don't drive over 70 we currently have 154,000 miles on our terrain and its in the shop for a new exhaust system from being in the midwest all its life
I'm in the market for a small suv or truck and saw one of these on the road 2 weeks ago. I thought is was pretty good looking. I started doing a bit of research and I guess this year they downsized the motor. Everyone was complaining about it, and one guy said "Why would anyone buy one of these on purpose" Haha. Others also said it was a dated interior. I do like the looks and size of it. Thanks for the review.
I own a 2018 Terrain SLT. Same 1.5 engine and 9 speed transmission. In suburban driving I’m getting 29 MPG and 32 highway. Mine has AWD, but I leave it in 2WD mode 95% of the time.
Had a 2020 Terrain Denali, great car and a solid light off roader. Mine had the bigger 2.0 motor that gave tons of power for the small SUV. Sad they don't offer that motor anymore.
It's my understanding that HUD doesn't work on plain old glass. The windshield has to have a certain layer or coating on it for a HUD to work. As such it's likely cheaper (and more available) for GM to use the pop up HUD.
Idc what anyone says my 2022 Terrain is faster and comfortable and a lot more then our Nissan was. It’s a damn good. Just lacks back storage/grocery placement. Esp w the rubber mat.
7:25 It's a good explanation, but I think the solution would be easy enough: You distort the image you're projecting to compensate. In this case, I believe you'd elongate the lettering so that it projects at normal length.
The transfer case has 3 modes 2wd, awd, and off road. What does the transfer case do in off road mode? When you go from awd to off road what does it do to make it work better off road? How does the off road mode work?
i had just noticed that GM dropped the 2.0 turbo engine option from the Equinox/Terrain lineup and only offers the 1.5 with a 6 speed in the Equinox and a 1.5 with a 9 speed in the Terrain regardless of trim level, there used to be a diesel option as well, but never sold well

These days I can only spare a little time at the end of the night for UA-cam and I’d rather spend it skipping straight to the off-road testing segments and then I can go read about the specs and features online later.
GM seriously dropped the ball on the blazer/Jimmy. They knew what Ford was bringing out in the new bronco. And instead of trying to compete, they made yet another grocery getter that the world did not need. No automaker disrespects their own brands like GM does. I grew up going hunting in an old blazer, and that thing could go anywhere. The old jimmies were just as capable. Even the slightly more recent blazer ZR2 was a decently capable off-roader. They could make up for it though, if they just wised up and offered up a new blazer ZR2 and/or Jimmy at4x package(s) with full capability and specks as the Colorado ZR2. Hell do the same for the 'burban/Yukon while they're at it.
Yeah I get what you are saying but the market for crossovers is high demand understand that they is more money in the so called grocery getters. Let’s be honest a family four would be looking for a Chevy traverse, blazer or equinox over a ford bronco. Gas mileage, way more space and obviously more road friendly than a bronco in that sense. If you are looking for looks than a ford bronco is the way but if you are looking for comfort then you go the other route.
@alfredorivera3454 with the traverse and equinox they have 2 badges for smaller SUVs. Plus the trailblazer for midsize crowd. They really should have given the blazer back to its off-road roots. Same with the Jimmy. They could also make a ZR2 version of one of the compact SUVs too. They had a Tracker ZR2 back in the day. The chatter in ZR2 groups about the possibility of blazer ZR2 return says there would definitely be a market for it. Us Chevy guys that off-road only have the colorado n Silverado as options. I love my colorado ZR2 but would trade it in in a heartbeat for blazer.
I would have to do without the panoramic magnifying glass in the roof. Can you tow this on a car dolly when it's in two wheel drive mode or do you have to have a trailer?

I got a rav4 as rental and I hated it. Too much electronic interference and it felt like I had less torque than my lawn mower. Equinox/Terrain looks way better too.

A more pertinent video would be “Can the ‘tech’ in the GMC Terrain AT4 prevent you from hitting something in the Costco parking lot”. You can do much better guys.
1.5L 4-cyl with 200 lb/ft torque in an "off-road" SUV? LMAO fucking GM does it again
You took that little thing "offroad" but never the Ridgeline? WTF?
Nice for a fan , but not for me !
No it's not a real 4x4 it's only used for traction as a luxury car.
Just needs a lift and better tires
It needs real engine at first. At least V6
@@marcelo403polo2 a bigger engine is always great but if you could just increase the horse power without breaking it then a smaller engine would be fine. But in this case it's just too low to the ground with tires that don't grip for off road
@@k.tucker2011 Yeah, but who buys little SUV for off-roading? There is way more better options. This 1.5L scares the $..t out of me.
Not buffalo horns on that animal
1.5 L and turbo not justified its underpowered in highways for sure weight of suv 3419 lb sLt model 18inch ground clearance it’s too low I drive this suv 23 days as retail before buy but change my mind it’s not my cup of tea
More capable than a cvt Subaru. Still wouldn’t buy it cause quality isn’t there.
First
Garbage product. I feel bad for folks that buy these without researching them.
GM didn’t do it again. This and the trailblazer could have been something in the midsized suv market. I’m Outback is way better that these.
