Proximity to Canada would be the top selling point for me in considering Buffalo. Cleveland being the nearest major US city is cool, but Toronto seems rad.
Chicago is a great affordable city where you don't need a car. Tons of affordable apartments in Lake View East and the Far North Side as well as Southside.
Buffalo far exceeds the cultural attributes of any city of this size, has the globally well known Abright Knox gallery which is doubling in size and reopening this summer, huge Olmstead boulevards and park sytem right in the city ( aka Central Park architect NYC ), a Frank Loyld Wright museum and homes he built, as well a slew of other architectural masterpieces throughout the city. Beautiful and walkable historic neighbourhoods abound with friendly and engaging proud people., with a very noted culinary scene. The weather is moderated by the warnth of the lake , Toronto and Chicago are actually colder, albeit does snow a bit more, but not much more than any other city in western or upstate New York. The city is gaining in population because the affordabilty and quality of life in conjunction with a real authentic and historic city feel.
Walking, bicycles, escooters and electric buses or trollies are all part of a good transportation system. Every city needs a bicycle rental program. Safe, protected bike lanes and trail encourage more people to ride bicycles.
No it's not. Just about as cold as any other Northeastern city.. it's located right next to Lake Erie so in the winter, obviously we get a lot of lake effect snow. But the city of Buffalo and the Northtowns get wayyyy less than the southtowns like where the Buffalo Bills play in Orchard Park.
Buffalo is really starting to get money poured into it and on the upswing. Only rust belt city to see a population increase (40,000 influx of people) since 1950. This isn't 2003 Buffalo anymore
Btw, you kind of ruined the video by what you said at the end. Buffalo is a hub city for immigrants and has amazing culture from a bunch of different cultures.
Sure. It was more so in comparison to other cities like NYC, BOS, PHI etc. if Buffalo really did have this unbeatable culture then it would be far more expensive to live there.
@@cities4ppl Comparing a small city to 3 massive cities. Westside of Buffalo is legit all sorts of cultures and ethnicities. When people immigrate from Columbia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, ect.. Buffalo is one of the first cities they are sent too because of how welcoming the city is to them.
And the video was awesome man, just feel like you can't form opinions on a city like that by being in it for 3 days in the winter when everybody is inside. Would love for you to come back in the summer and I can tell you some places to hit
@@cities4ppl I consider buffalo to be more than the city of Buffalo I would consider the suburbs like west Seneca Amherst, Cheektowaga, ect all part of buffalo too… I do not think they are remotely walkable the only reason downtown is would be because they used to be a transit hub! So I get what you’re saying but you’re ignoring the vast majority of the metro area. That’s like saying Manhattan is walkable so all of nyc is even if say queens isn’t lol Look at orchard park! They don’t end have sidewalks on some roads lol!
Hi! Just found your channel and I'm so excited to keep watching - please consider making videos about affordable walkable cities all over the world :)
I will most definitely consider your feedback! 😉
Great video! Buffalo is definitely on my list of places to visit
Thank you! Great to pair w Niagara Falls.

You’re right. Having Toronto for weekend trips is primo.
Yep if you drive fast, can get to Toronto in like an hour, hour 10 mins
There's also University District by UB's South Campus
Absolutely. There are so many that I had I couldn’t highlight them all.
Watching this from my $1700/mo. 1 br. in LA. Gonna try and pitch this to my wife tonight XD
$1,700 in LA? That’s wayyyy below the average. I wonder how so?
@@cities4ppl We're in the valley, not like the city center

Yes for sure. Chicago and Philly are clearly the best affordable walkable cities so I’m trying to highlight the lesser known.
Cool! Growing up in NYC, I always expressed an interest in visiting Buffalo but I think it get a bad rap and nobody seemed keen to join me.
I think it’s worth a weekend trip from NYC and pair with Niagara Falls.
People still think Buffalo is 2003 bankrupt Buffalo. It's truly on the upswing

That’s what I’m talking about!

Agreed on the protected bike lanes. Buffalo and Niagara Falls do have a bikeshare called Reddy, but it needs to expand
My guy is relentless
@@cities4ppl LOL, was that about my comment or the original comment? 😅
Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it daily.
Mmhmm
Do Cincinnati next.
I’ve certainly taken a gander!
Buffalo is cold as hell.
Tough to argue that.

Do you live in Buffalo?

I mean you can’t walk that far in buffalo 😂 the transit is TRASH it would take hours to get between my friends houses
Buffalo is sadly more walkable than the vast majority of cities in America. I didn’t say it was perfect!

Both great places to mugged or carjacked
Let’s all just move to the Amish country
Any major city is going to have crime
