Anyone remember the beginning of the pandemic, when everything was shut down, people were sheltering at home, no cars or not as many trucks on the roads?
Do you also remember how clear the sky was, how quiet it was?
We need to reverse the damage industrialized nations have done to the earth. Now!

The quiet that you heard was the sound of the dead Earth that you can't hear when the machines are running. Then you could hear the dead silence -- the ominous sound of extinction. It was a warning of our own impending extinction. The warning was clear, IF we don't start acting as ecological stewards we will destroy OURSELVES!

Anyone that doesn't understand climate change can do a pretty easy experiement to help them grasp the concept. Get two glass jars and two thermometers. Place one thermometer in one jar and the other one in the remaining jar. Then wrap one jar in plastic wrap completely but where you can still read the termomemter. Place both in sun and see which one heats up quicker and higher.

I absolutely agree with him, "Having no petroleum" certainly "is a nightmare". So maybe people should try not to be wasteful with it, wherever possible, just in case we only have a limited amount of it and the world does not actually end tomorrow. Who knows, maybe future generations will discover that they need it far more than we do and can put it to a more beneficial use than our generation. I also can't argue about climate change being anything other than a natural occurance, it has always happened every season throughout my life. Admittedly I am not a scientist qualified in analizing the current trends in climate behaviour, so I am not going to speculate, but I would prefer it if future generations did not end up depending on ice cream and gasoline to stay cool.

Appreciate your light hearted-ness but unfortunately being “in the middle” is a fallacy. Imagine if we were “in the middle” about slavery or woman’s rights. “Yea, slavery is probably bad but we also really need to for economic growth so we just can’t be too quick to come to conclusions”.

I grew up in Ohio and remember learning about these sources of energy because they there was a power plant 20 minutes away and coal is very important to that areas economy. Senior year fracking was becoming very popular and we learned about it.
Yes they taught us it, the benefits and the DANGERS. They taught us that our infrastructure couldn’t support complete transition to no fossil fuels. But it was important for us to discuss how to get to that point.
Yes these things should be taught in school. It’s up to the teacher, parents, and community to use the knowledge accordingly

I'm not eating bugs because you think there's a problem with the weather. In 5 months you can whine again that it's too hot.
I have lived through every world ending prediction in the last 50 years. In the late 60's we were taught that by the year 2000 the entire US would be underwater. In the 70' s we were taught that due to acid rain there would be no crops and most of the world would die from starvation. The 80's the new fear was death due to the demise of the ozone layer. At some point Global Warming was the thing. And today it's climate change. For the last 20 years they preach about more frequent and more intense storms. Living in Florida that's something I pay attention to, the last Cat 5 that hit Florida was Andrew in 1992. In my opinion 32 years doesn't qualify as more frequent.
Get back to me when it snows in July or hits 100° up north in January. That would be real climate change. And please stop pointing at wildfires and claiming that's climate change. Or making dumb statements that the oceans are boiling because one bouy hits 100° in the Florida straights. That's caused by water flowing from the relatively shallow waters of the Gulf flowing into the Atlantic. Everyone that lives here knows how hot the water gets on the West Coast beaches and you have to go to deeper water if you want to get cooled off. Even my swimming pool hits 120° at the surface if the pump isn't running with the cover on. Newsflash, the summer sun is hot and radiant heat is stored in objects

No. It's not almost like the seasons changing. Not at all. Anyone who says so does not understand the issue.
Climate is not the same as weather. Not the same as the seasons changing. Not simply a matter of hot or cold. This is an extremely serious, complex issue, and only fools will try to shrug it away.
The temperature of the Earth is increasing. Glaciers are melting. Natural disasters are increasingly prevalent. Sea levels are rising. The evidence is overwhelming, and the consequences are looming. This isn't a fantasy, and it's definitely not a joke.
